Thank you Padre Piper for this video. I am also a catholic Priest in Phoenix AZ. I couldn't believe it when Frog Morton and other McClelland products were gone from my local sources! My favorite has been the McClellands British Woods. Searching for an alternative I stumbled upon your channel. I tried the Boswell Northwood at your suggestion and am loving it. I also got the Country Side but haven't opened the tin yet. Thanks for the video!
I think you'll enjoy Countryside! Also try Boswell's Northwoods--another good English of their's that stands on its own. I count it a blessing that you found my channel. I am constantly amazed at the amount of Christians and more specifically, the amount of ordained clergy that are pipe smokers. In fact, there are several clergy that are video presenters here in the YTPC. I am in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, but grew up and remained Roman for the first thirty years of my life. At any rate, extremely pleased to make your acquaintance, and so very appreciative for you watching and commenting! The peace of our Lord be with you, my Brother!
Derek Tant, I owe you an apology. I had spent the weekend thinking about doing a video on easily available alternatives to Esoterica Penzance and then had a bright idea of going with FM alternatives, mostly because I was craving Skiff Mixture and because it reminds me of the original FM. So, at the last minute, I switched my concept from Penzance to FM and recorded. Then, as I was uploading, I realized, my brilliant idea wasn’t really my idea because you had basically done this concept a couple of weeks ago. So, my apologies for ripping off your idea, my friend. It was totally unintentional, I promise! Hope you and yours are well!
Padre Piper No apologies are necessary. Frog Morton alternatives are not anything that belongs to me. My video was not just me offering alternatives, but asking for more suggestions, too. So, you are adding to the list. No worries, Padre!
Every time I fill a pipe with C&D Star of the East or Kramer's Father Dempsey, I think "Bless you, Padre." I went out after watching this video and bought half-pounds of both as well as the Gawirth Skiff (I know the H&H as an old Balkan Sobranie devotee from the mid-1970s, and the Boswell's Northwoods was OOS). I've happily overcome my post-McClelland's gloom (and still have about 7 varied ounces to space out over the years). I think Star comes through beautifully as the closest to my McC favs, with a sweetish red VA- Lat light before balancing off with sour Turkish. Great all the way down. So many, many thanks for alleviating the pain of tobacco loss with superb recommendations. (The Skiff is a quick burn, is more costly, and doesn't like all my pipes. Enjoy it but may not renew. Have been experimenting, though, with topping off other tobaccos with a layer of Skiff, which is sweet to light and gets a roaring fire going, quickly, especially with plug and slice rubs.)
thelex001, it does my heart good to know that this video helped you find a couple of enjoyable alternatives! Thank you for letting me know! God bless, my friend, and happy smokes!
It's so great to see the Padre back on 😃😃🙏🏻🙏🏻....you are absolutely right about all of them all fantastic blends....it has been tough to find the Samuel gawith.....Hopefully better soon....God bless Padre hope to see you again soon 👍
Hello my friend! I hope you are well! Yes, the Samuel Gawith can be a bit tough to get these days, and hopefully, that won't continue. Meanwhile, if you get ahold of some Skiff Mixture, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! God bless, my friend!
My journey to pipe smoking started in September of 2017 so I never heard about the Frog Morton series too late. My first pipe happens to be a Boswells and enjoy their Countryside and Northwoods. Other English blends to consider are (from light to full body) Titus and Railroad Station. Countryside and Northwoods fall in-between these blends. RRS is what I would consider a great cold weather tobacco or one if you want something hearty. Thanks for the video as I’ve been interested in hearing about other English blends. God bless Father. Looking forward to other blend reviews.
Purdue Piper, hey there! Ignore my comment on my other video recommending Countryside as it seems you’re quite familiar with it! Thanks for watching and commenting, my friend!
Another great video! I'm already a fan of a couple of your choices, but thanks for the other recommendations. Keep the videos and positive vibes coming!
I love Boswell’s. I live about 20 minutes from there. I have to say Padre I was very excited that you gave Boswell’s Some love. Please try Boswell’s Railroad Station. It is another Fantastic English Blend. A great list . Thanks for sharing.. Take care Keep em Burning and God Bless...
Ghost Cob, I'm loving me some Boswell's! What a blessing that you live only 20 minutes away from them! If that were me, I have a feeling I'd be having a lot of impulsive trips to their store, LOL! I've heard good things about Railroad Station and am going to have to put some in the next order. I'm sure I won't be disappointed, as it seems nothing from Boswell ever disappoints. Take care, my friend and God bless you and yours!
Really glad to see you back, Padre. I always enjoy your upbeat videos. I actually binge watched your channel a few years ago when I first started seriously smoking pipes, lol. I also lived in Metairie for several years when I was in school. Anyway, great reviews and God bless. Kevin.
Kevin, so nice to hear from you! You binge watched my channel? Good lawd, my friend... it's rumored that the FDA is investigating my channel as a treatment for insomnia! In all seriousness, I truly appreciate the kind words and thank you for stopping by and commenting. If you're ever back in the old neighborhood, let me know and perhaps we can get together and enjoy a pipe together. Blessings!
Many thanks, Padre, for solid recommendations of four tobaccos I've not smoked. H&H has long been in my rotation (six of which were McClelland...sob...). Discussion you prompted is also valuable. Still have a cache of McClellands - 3 Oaks, Legends, Coyote, PM, AM - but remain desperate for replacements. So grazie mille...
I thought that looked like a Rattray’s, I have the Old Gowrie in a 4 shape and a Fachen in a 106 and I love them both, some of my best smoking pipes. I have my eyes on the bulldog like yours in their Highland line. Love the content, happy piping!
So good to see you again. I'm with you on selecting a tobacco based on where and who I'm with. Inside with the wife watching a movie or sporting event I will reach for a good room note aromatic. When I'm alone reading, watching TV or working in my shop I will chose a tobacco that has more punch and less room note.
I figured I wasn't alone on the alone/contemplative piping versus the socializing piping. Great to hear from you, my friend and thanks for stopping by!
Very nice pipe and great suggestions. I have a bit of Boswell Northwoods and Countryside left, along with some Railroad Station, which you NEED to try, and they do make good subs for FM. I have not tried Skiff Mixture, but it sounds intriguing. I myself have found that the GL Pease Old London Series offerings are very pleasant and on a par with FM. Incidentally, I was very happy to recently score a 1 lb bag of Mac Baren HH Vintage Syrian, which I am not going to vault. Like your tin of Across the Pond, it deserves to be smoked today. Tomorrow is promised to no man! Chooch 'em now! Thank you, and God bless! ✌ 🐯
Great to see you again Padre. Love Black House and Skiff Mixture, good recommendations. Might want to try White Knight from H&H and Squadron Leader from SG.
Blue Dog, so good to hear from you! I’ve got White Knight in the cellar but have never opened it because I got it at the same time as Blackhouse, fell in love with Bkackhouse, and never got to the White Knight. I’ve also had Squadron Leader cellared for about three years and just haven’t gotten to it. Hope you are well, my friend. One day, we need to plan a meet up in BR.
Hello Padre Piper, I hope you are well. I watched your video hoping to find a Frog Morton replacement, but found myself trying to catch a look at your pipe. I really like the look of it. Can you tell me the name of the pipe? Thank you and please keep making more videos. Leonard
Hey Leonard! Thanks for stopping by and saying HI! That pipe is s Rattray’s Old Gowrie. I think it’s a No 6 but I’d have to actually look that up on Rattray’s site to confirm the actual shape. I ended up dedicating that pipe to Virginias and it’s actually one of my favorite and best smoking pipes in my collection.
Thank you Padre. I was just getting into the froggy line when they closed their doors!! Really appreciate the new suggestions. If you like Star of the East, you may wish to try C&D's Pirate Kake, also a lat bomb but I find it a bit smoother! God Bless!
Great alternatives buddy. I would also throw two more into the ring for everyone's consideration. Sutliff Old Professor and C&D's Snug Harbor. Both are smooth, slightly sweetened englishes very much in the same vein as the Frog Morton blends (which were all topped). And added bonuses? They're virtually unknown, inexpensive and always available (and in bulk!)
Definitely on my list now. You make some compelling arguments for sampling these and I love the name of both blends! Take care, my friend, and don’t forget to tell that lovely bride of yours, “Baby, you’re the greatest!”
Hello Padre Piper, You're spot-on I would actually put Boswell Country side a strong runner for FMC. If you could add the Whiskey plug it would nail it.
Hello Padre piper how are you. Hope and pray all is well im loving that pipe and i was able to get a couple of tins of frog morton original and some celler. Im only useing them on special occasions. I miss MCClellends. An amazing company im puting. The smiff blend on my list. To try. Padre thanks so much for sharing. My friend happy smokes😄😃😃😃😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 best regards peter.
The Smoove Piper, definitely going to miss those McClelland blends. I’ve got some stuff cellared, but it’s just sad to think they’re no longer available. It’s like losing a good friend. Hope you are well, my friend! God bless!
Hey Padre - just thought I'd share this for posterity. I recently had a chance to have some FMC, some Boswell Northwoods and some Country Squire Shepherd's Pie all in a shootout kind of situation. Northwoods gets brought up a lot in the discussion with FMC, but I found Shepherd's Pie to be closer, and to be honest, I think it's actually better than FMC. At least for me, it has ended my search for FMC. Hopefully this helps someone.
Man, those are some VERY nice blends you mention! While I’m not new to the Country Squire, I’ve only had Shepherd’s Pie fir the first time a couple of months ago, and I share your passion for it! It’s a GREAT blend! Thanks for watching and commenting!
On the Town is my favorite. I'm incredibly sad at the demise of my old friend, Frog Morton. I'm kind of hoping they sell the brand and the old Frog will be resurrected at some point. I appreciate your list!
I too share your hope that the recipes/rights will be sold, but from everything I have read, that does not seem to be something that the McNeils are considering at this time. Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are well!
Solid video, as usual. I'll tell you what struck me most: the thought that flake requires a lot of work. Because, for me, flake and press are the easiest to load, with just folding and stuffing. or rolling into balls the size of your chamber in a couple lifts. I've been pipe smoking for 25 years. And, the '3-lift press" method is still a wild gamble in that it is just so different with every style of ready-rub and/or ribbon, and the like. Most flakes and coins and press, when not rubbed-out, but ever so slightly rolled or folded yield far more reliable results for me. If I ever get back to Cajun country, I'll have to show you my technique. Not that I'm trying to get you to change what you like. I just have a feeling you may be complicating things. Yet, I do agree about cutting - cutting is work. Happy smokes, Padre. Thanks for the vid. I know it's old. But, so am I.
I just got a couple tins of Father Dempsy, looking forward to trying it. Going to have to get some Star of the East, I found I love latakia. Thanks for your views. Al
Backwoods Piper 1, I really love Father Dempsey, but it is not nearly as Latakia forward as Star of the East. I think you’ll enjoy both! Happy piping, my friend!
THE PUFFING ALIEN 👽 AT SPACEMAN TV 📺 , that pipe smokes EVERYTHING so well! I just love it. In fact, I smoked it today in the video I made, but today I enjoyed McClelland Red Cake in it, and boy, did that go well with a nice cup of coffee! Thanks for watching and commenting, my friend, and God bless!
Thank you Padre Just subscribed to your channel Very interesting subject to my ears, thank you for suggestions on different tobaccos, 👍🇬🇧 very nice choices
Hey Padre..I smoke and enjoy a lot of C&D's offerings..I find their English blends to be quite good, and in some cases a great alternative to FM's favorite blends from back in the day....BTW, I too crave those Lat bombs from time to time....
14theroad1955 you know, I used to shy away from C&D and I don’t know why. The past couple of years, I’ve really grown fond of more and more of their offerings!
I just ordered skiff mixture ... it’s so so hard to find but worth the search ... Will share my experience as soon as I get it ... thank you for info ... BTW Syrian Latakia is the best of all in the Middle East .. turkey and cypress tried to mimic same tree but for some reason nothing matched the Syrian Latakia.
Holy smoke! You are actually a man of the cloth. Well, why not, I think the Holy Ghost smokes a pipe too 😉 Great video, I got the last two tins of Frog Morton and Cellar in Switzerland but keep them for a special occasion. Thanks for those alternatives, most kind of you! Boswell Northwoods and Countryside are already their own legends.
It seems to be getting harder and harder to come by. Last Spring I had no trouble getting it. Hopefully this Spring will be the same way. Keeps your eyes peeled! It’s worth it!
YO BRO - Nice to see you again. The Schick brothers and I think you are looking good. I can, this time, agree with a couple of your summations and will try some 'Father Dempsey' based on your recommendation. I have several Boswell's pipes but do not care for their blends you mentioned. Did like the Toad Morton's stuff for a while but it became unpleasant with time. So, down yonder I guess some are singing the blues over the McClellends retirement which is appropriate for that area - the 'Blue's' that is. I agree with thee again - God bless them in their retirement - hopefully as much as he has blessed me in mine. I really liked the pipe you were chompin' on - as a pipe nut I shall certainly look 'er up. Pray all is well with thee and may our God bless you. Jim
At each moment a pleasure at which hour I heareth from thee, Sir James! Thee madeth me chuckle with the "toad m'rton" remark! ; ) I'm betting thee shall not findeth yourself disappoint'd in the least with kram'r's fath'r dempsey! God's blessings on thee and yours, mine own cousin! (I translated my message into your language using lingojam.com/EnglishtoShakespearean).
Good stuff brother. Boswell’s Northwoods is good but I actually prefer their railroad station. I like to age the railroad station with a rehydrated whiskey stave that’s soaked up a heavy peaty scotch. I need to try star of the east, love some heavy Latakia blends. I also like to get some Peter Stokkebye’s proper English and mix it (2 to 1) with Latakia. Too bad I didn’t see this video 2 years ago😀 God bless you.
Great video and recommendations. If you have ever tried Peterson’s Wild Atlantic, I would appreciate your thoughts. Just had my 3rd bowl Sunday and it seems to be winning favor as a stalwart English. Best, Gary
Great, I'm interested in hearing what you think regarding Wild Atlantic and how this blend may compare to any other blends you are familiar with or enjoy. Thanks, Gary
Nice Rattray pipe, Padre!! I was lucky enough to stock up on FM Cellar and FM on the Bayou before they went away. Check out Eric BlueCollarPipeSmoker. He's tinkering with a match blend to FM Cellar using Lane HGL as a base!! I think he's on the right path. Great video!! All the best!!
Sgt. Savinelli, thank you, sir. I’ve had a good time attempting Eric’s creations. He’s even inspired me to try some of my own connotations. I’m hoping that at some point, I can get a blend good enough to share in a video. God bless, my friend!
I am going to miss on the bayou. But I do like north woods prob. A little better. I'll have to try father dimpcey and SG blend. Star of the East is good. Great💯 video! I love these type videos thanks.
Hello, my friend! Thank you for watching and commenting. The Bayou is definitely one of those fine blends that is going to be missed! I don't think you'll be disappointed by either Father Dempsey or Skiff Mixture. Give them a try and let me know! God bless, my friend!
Fantastic! I just bought a tin of skiff the other day! yet to try it, I am a bit worried about Sam Gawith though, my local isn't stocking it (think I got the last tin of skiff in the shop!) and its out of stock on the websites. Not to cause mass panic but my tobacconist said they may be discontinuing skiff, but that might just be speculation! fingers crossed!
The Man of Yorke, noooooo!!!! I sure hope that’s not the case. But again, we’ve got to be adaptive in this hobby of ours because so much of it is beyond all our control. Thanks for watching and commenting, my friend!
Always enjoyed FM original, FM series was great! You might try HGL from Lane it's a crossover bulk but have smoked it on and off for 40+ yrs. Agree with Blackhouse some good stuff! Father Dempsey delicious! Yep SOTE is a Lat bomb, it is a good one, Skiff another great choice😎
Oh ya North woods is great and I may have to get some countryside to see whats up. Great video and thank you for the video Padre! Check out some Peter Stokkebye Proper English. A great english and very good as well. Take care and sweet smokes
Peter Stokkebye definitely blends some quality stuff, that's for sure. I'm going to have to give the Proper English a try. I'm fairly certain you will not be disappointed by the Boswell's Countryside (and if you are, just box it up and send it to me, LOL!). Take care, my friend!
I just got a 100g tin of frog Morton on the bayou, sealed, no rust on the can, Dated 2007. Is it worth anything? I do not smoke pipes and have no idea.
Smoking xGunx, I think Countryside is my favorite from Boswell’s. I used to consider it a light English, but I think it might technically be considered crossover because their is a light “boozey” topping to it that gives it a really unique and nice flavor. Post a video of your thoughts on it once you’ve had a couple bowls! God bless you and yours, my friend!
XYZ Z, thank you for the kind words. As far as a true alternative for “Cellar” I don’t believe there is one. However, I recently read in s forum where some folks were discussing “Brigadier Black Bull Run" as an alternative to “Cellar”. I’ve not had “Bull Run” but do have a large tin of it (and all the blends from that series) in my cellar and may now be tempted to crack it and see. Brigadier Black is an inexpensive purchase that tends to get fairly high marks and is readily available. If you try it, let me know! Blessings!
Padre I tried out some stuff. Northwoods - smokey and a little bitter, maybe overtoasted but with pleasant aroma. Mixture 965 - love it, very elegant and easy to smoke, great note on the tin/smoke. Plum pudding - not enough latakia for my tastes but pleasant aftertaste and again hard to put down. I would say 965 is the closest to FMC that I have seen so far.
Hey, Padre! Great suggestions there. I've yet to try Northwoods, really looking forward to smoking it. As for Countryside, I'd never heard of it. Blackhouse is another one on the list to try in the near future, although being mostly a seasonal smoker myself, I guess I'll smoke more Virginias than anything this spring-summer season. Thanks for the video! Cheers - Héctor
I think you'll really enjoy Countryside and Blackhouse. I'm with you about the seasonal approach. In a month or two, it will be unlikely that I'll be going to the heavy English blends with the warmer weather. Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
Northwoods would be my replacement for Frog Morton regular. Smoother. Yes the Virginia’s are not as good as McClelland. Nothing tops McClelland Virginia’s. The Latakia is Cyprian. Black House is not in the Frog Morton class in my opinion. It’s the closest match for Balkan Sobranie 759. Black House is heavier in the Latakia and orientals. Superb
Yeah, I had to offer an apology to Mr. Tant, as I inadvertently "borrowed" his concept with this video. The original idea was to do alternatives to Penzance, but at the last minute, I had a bright idea to shift it to the FM series. It turns out that it was such a GREAT idea because Mr. Tant had already done it, LOL! Oh well. Thanks for watching, my friend and take care!
I've been wanting to try the Kramer blends especially the Father Dempsey one. Does it have a noticeable top note? I'm not necessarily put off by the idea of an English Aromatic, but I just want to know what I'm getting. Thanks Father
hi Padre, just tossed you a sub off this video; nice live tribute for Marches860 on Mike’s live stream Friday ... i agree with your recommendation on Black House, but I would highly recommend you try out Lane HGL, esp given that you like aro’s ... I have found it to be an excellent FM replacement ... blessings, Mark 🙏🏻
Hey Mark, thanks for the sub! I actually love HGL! It’s one of my favorite crossover blends! Another great crossover, that few have heard of, is PS Blend by the Country Squire Tobacconist. It’s an in house blend that they’ve been cooking up since the 1970s. Thanks again, my friend and God bless!
@@PadrePiper sweet; I'll have to check that out! I've also tried Father Dempsey, Stokkebye (sp?) Luxury English, and GL Pease Quiet Nights & those are all pretty good blends, as well -- some you mentioned in your vid ... but Black House & HGL stood out among all these ones I've found so far ...
@@PadrePiper great Q!! my iPhone did an update, and when it did, it botched my TH-cam biz-niz, so I have to hunker back down & figure out how to get videos up to TH-cam again!!!! :( i've got a few meerschaum thoughts to share as i've been favoring those pipes recently ... will try to get it figured out & post up a video soon :)
Jah'an Luik, you bring up an interesting possibility! C&D’s SOTE is VERY Latakia heavy-much more so than FM, however, blending it down with something on the sweeter side, like BCA, might get you in the ballpark. Check out Eric BlueCollarPipeSmoker’s videos on what he calls Frog Morton’s Ghost. He’s been working on on something similar.
Thanks, going to add that to my que...as for the blending, I tried both proper english and english oriental by peter stokkebye, but neither of them have the same latakia profile, so I'm hoping C&D star of east comes close, I tried C&D byzantium but I wasn't impressed by it at all. it was too spicy
A late entry. Still on the Post-McClelland Visionquest, have some 3 Oaks, Legend, and PM remaining, doling it out sparingly. Last year I tried all the good Padre's recommendations but the Northwoods - obviously, word is out on them and it's always OOS everywhere - and, in my mouth and tastebuds, the Skiff is a bust that leaves my piehole foul, as though I'd been licking ashes. Star of the East and Father Dempsey remain in my rotation. I've reordered both, tin and bulk. The H&H has never been out of my rotation, but it's down the list. For a while, I thought 2 bargain-priced Stokkebyes - Proper English and Luxury English (and esp the latter, for the touch of sweet up front) - were going to be it. Great blends, esp for the price. Then a few weeks ago I bought 4 oz of H&H Larry's Blend, which has been OOS and backordered every time I had tried to get a tin or a bulk bag over the past 2 years Well, I've been smoking little else since it arrived...it's closer to the Frogs than anything I've smoked...that bit of sweetness that carries through to the end, probably the Cyprian Lat, and some spicy, sourish Orientals that push back on the other side. Pretty much an all day smoke and now the anchor of my rotation. So for me it's Larry's and the 2 Stokkebyes, Father Dempsey (which I'm enjoying right now, thinking of Irving Berlin and Fred McMurray), and the C&D SOTE. I'll keep exploring, but for now I'm good until there's a competition to replicate the Frogs.
I hear the same, but I tend to like the bulk better and I sometimes think it's just because I had it first and because I'm lazy when dealing with flakes, LOL!
I'm lucky enough to still have some tins of Frog Morton Cellar, Frog Morton Original, and Frog Morton on the Town still in my tobacco cellar. They are about two years old now
As regards the Blender of the " Black House." yes this guy is skilled. However, some of his work is very inconsistent in very problematic ways. Consistency is a very important aspect of the craft which has to be managed by the most skilled hand possible. This must be addressed if we are to move forward into a better age. The sloppiness has to be done awqay with.As far as having to break up and cut modern tobaccos, this type seems to be the trend, and rubbing ti does not fix the matter. I find it must be cut with a knife then rubber out. This is seemingly another " cheapness " move that is supposed to seem cool, but is not necessarily the case. yes it will stay moist longer, and it also requires a LOT more preparation before it can be smoked. As seen from one angle this is quantum laziness in production methods for a hurry to market product. Sign of the times.
Why can't we get Syrian tabacco any more?.... Oh yeah because of the proxy war being fought there where women and kids are getting bombs dropped on them. Bless you father.
father your ids are great, but we are all sad with respect to the best blenders quitting, i feel they did this out of bitterness, when u have a million bucks r buss you dont just quit you???? sell it or at least sell the blends, make sence????they were just mad at the govt, and were nt thinking of there customers...i have heard the owner spak he is a cocky wise guy i have no respect for mccllends.
You may be right. I've heard him speak too. There are some TH-cam videos with him being interviewed and he does come off as a bit.... well... maybe cocky. I take him as more of a control freak and at the same time, he seems to imply his wife is a control freak. So.... that may have a lot to do with it--he just didn't want to hand over his productions to someone else. At the end of the day, it's his choice. I have seen direct quotes where he clearly indicates his aggravation with the government too. I'm pretty sure I would have sold to the highest bidder. But... I don't have anything worth anybody bidding on, so what do I know? And who knows... the highest bid may not yet have been made. They are smart business folks, so they could be posturing for an even better than imaginable deal. I shall mourn the loss of some of my favorite blends, but I shall continue the excitement of trying new stuff too. There's much enjoyment in that. God's blessings, my friend!
McClelland was my permier TOP supplier. Since the 1970s, never had anything that compares to their Craft. I mean so far, a big Zero. GL Pease is fair in some measures. I have found nothing that compares to any of what they produced so far. There is one maker which, every single tin I have tried from them I have not " Liked." They are also supposedly one of the larger names at large. What I will say is their tobaccos are for people with no sense of taste whatsoever. Their name shall remain a Mystery. I am sure the well seasoned Lads have an inkling of exactly who I am speaking about. Their Tobacccos largely suck. Sadly. I hate to have to say it, but its a fact.
Ha! I'll email you. I think you sent your email address in the message. I very seldom check youtube messages just because I can't figure out how to do it from my iPhone. I can only do it on a computer by going to TH-cam --> Creator Studio --> Community --> Messages
Well not sure what u are that's why I am asking...I am sure u have no idea what a Christian is?By the way how did u become Christian? Were u born into it?Christianity isn't a nationality nor race we get born into ! I am amaze at Catholics praying on rosaries without having scriptural foundation for it!!Saying hail Mary's without scriptural foundation?Did the Apostle Paul or the believers of biblical times pray on rosary beads or did they say hail Mary's ? don't the bìble say that people teach for doctrine the commandments of men?Padre i will pray for u that you meet Christ our Sàviour the one who died for you....Be blessed Sir!!
Divine Favor, my friend, you should pray for Divine Mercy, and put the “Divine Favor” moniker aside. For starts, I’m an Anglican not a Roman Catholic (But congrats on your (pre)judgement-see Matthew 7:1) and I was blessed to be born into a Christian family and have personally received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. And I sir, will pray for you, that when you next read St. Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth you come to realize what it really means to have the Holy Spirit indwelling you (and thus have your body be a Temple) and that the scales on your eyes be lifted so you can come to see pipe smoking or consuming an adult beverage, etc. for what it is and what it is not-even by Biblical standard. But even if your brand of faith were correct, why would you even watch a video or channel like this? Wouldn’t that make you guilty of the sin at which you point your finger? That’s rather scandalous of you! What if your pastor found out? And BTW, what’s with your brand of so-called Christianity that includes sarcastically casting stones at a Christian who smokes a pipe-especially sir, if you are carrying one extra pound of weight since Scripture actually does address gluttony, but pipe smoking... not so much. What’s with that? When you can show the chapter and verse to support your legalism, I’ll listen. Until then, may Christ enlighten you and may He provide you the Divine Mercy you, like I, sorely need.
Notice you didn’t argue with God about my statement. Only one father is heaven. Show me where in the Bible it says call a teacher father “Anglican” aka false doctrine
SuperGlide Fletch! What do you call your father? What about those people who taught you in school, what do call them? Perhaps you should brush up on your homiletics before you take one verse of Scripture, use it out of context, and bash another’s faith expression and tradition. I will pray in the Name of our Lord that your dark obsession with Christian faith expressions and traditions that you clearly don’t understand will be lifted from you so that you can be the ambassador for Christ, who IS indeed the ONLY way, the Truth, and the Life-to be His ambassador as the Holy Spirit is calling you to be. God bless.
SuperGlide Fletch! So, you never referred to your dad as your father and your never referred to your educators as your teacher? A bit hard to believe, but it’s your freedom to call folks what you will. But unfortunately, your hermeneutics makes the Word of God flawed because it makes Paul out to be a blasphemer in 1 Timothy 1:2 and Philippians 2:22. God bless, my friend.
Well... I'm sorta afraid to tell you fearing you'll leave a mean comment! But seriously, I really intend to go back to Presbyterian Mixture. I've got some jarred and haven't had it in a few years and found it a tad bit boring and unidimensional. Perhaps aging has improved it. Hope you are well, my friend!
Wonderful to see you on here, Padre. Great suggestions, too. It’s what we need. Alternatives, not matches. Thank you for your time.
Derek Tant he isn’t your father on earth nor heaven.
Thank you. Some of us new to pipes missed the chance at these legendary blends, so this gives us some things to go out and try.
You are very welcome! Thank you for tuning in!
Kramer's Father Dempsey is my go-to full flavored English blend. Glad it made it on your list!
All very good suggestions, Padre. Thanks! All the best... 🙏
Pipes, etc., thank you for stopping by and checking in! Blessings!
Thank you, sir, for the kind words and thank you for watching and commenting! Hope you are well!
Another Jesus follower who enjoys the pipe! Thank you for your suggestions, sir!
troutwhisperer, it's a blessing to share some suggestions and thoughts, my friend. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Excellent vid Padre. Thanks. Good to see you again. GOD bless you. Have a great week. A little bit late, have a Happy 8ª Easter!
Easter blessings to you too my friend and thank you for the kinds words!
I thought that looked like a Rattray’s, I have the Old Gowrie in a 4 shape and a Fachen in a 106 and I love them both, some of my best smoking pipes. I have my eyes on the bulldog like yours in their Highland line. Love the content, happy piping!
That is a GREAT line of pipes! Smoke GREAT!!! I’ve got my eye on a Number 1 right now. I really love that paneled bowl.
Father Dempsey is on my list of tobacco's to try. Thank you.. I knew nothing of this blend till this video.
God Bless!
General Patten, I have not yet had Pirate Kake but do plan to try it. I just don’t like all that effort if slicing and rubbing, LOL!
Pirate Kake is heavy lat, but has burley instead of virginia, which was not to my taste.
That's not a bad idea. Hmmm....
God bless!
Glad i bought some Syrian stuff while it was around.. Good to see you Padre. Wes
So good to hear from you, Old Khakies, and I hope you are doing well! How is the Yellow Rose of Texas treating you?
Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills was my home parish, when I lived there, and whenever I visit.
I'd listen well to your services I wont feel sleepy in any shape or form lol
God bless
Hey there, please feel free to tune in for services at www.TH-cam.com/GoodShepherdMet and thanks for stopping in! God bless!
If you make it this way, please stop by, my friend! I’d love to enjoy a coffee and a pipe with you! God bless!
Some good comparisons! Very good video! God Bless Ya, Padre!
Thank you for stopping by and God's blessings on you and yours as well, my friend!
Hey Padre! I absolutely love that pipe! I want one! LOL. I happen to have one tin of Across the Pond! Great video! Peace be with you, my friend! 👽
Padre Piper Hey, that sounds nice! I think I’ll hunt for one of those pipes! I have some Rattrays Pipe Tobaccos! Enjoy! God Bless!
That was awesome. Thanks for the wishes of grace peace and blessing most of all. Love ya brother.
Thank you Padre
Just subscribed to your channel
Very interesting subject to my ears, thank you for suggestions on different tobaccos, 👍🇬🇧 very nice choices
Can't wait to try these out!
Kramer’s Blend for Danny Kaye is also really good as is their House Aromatic.
Thank you father.
Thanks for the suggestions Padre, still haven't been able to get a Samuel Gawith blend been wanting to try one though.
It seems to be getting harder and harder to come by. Last Spring I had no trouble getting it. Hopefully this Spring will be the same way. Keeps your eyes peeled! It’s worth it!
Go on to your favorite site, and set yourself up for alerts. You will get some no problem.
Beautiful pipe Padre!
Jim Germata, thank you, my friend. It’s one of my favorites.
Hope you had a good Easter, Padre.
A blessed and joyful Easter indeed, thank you! Blessings!
I'm regretting not getting into pipe smoking earlier so I could have smoked the Frog Morton Blends.
The entire McClelland portfolio was extremely good. They are definitely missed.
Too bad I didn’t see this video 2 years ago😀 God bless you.
dear Father, great recommendation, enjoy pipe smoking!
Great video and recommendations. If you have ever tried Peterson’s Wild Atlantic, I would appreciate your thoughts. Just had my 3rd bowl Sunday and it seems to be winning favor as a stalwart English. Best, Gary
PipeAdmirer, I have a couple of pouches of Wild Atlantic cellared and I think you just convinced me to give it a try!
Great, I'm interested in hearing what you think regarding Wild Atlantic and how this blend may compare to any other blends you are familiar with or enjoy. Thanks, Gary
Wonderful video, Padre!
Thank you, sir! God bless!
All the best, Padre!!
Thanks for watching and commenting, my friend!
hello from Israel! Thanks for the recommendations. You should know the tobacco Balkan Sasieni
I'm a BIG fan of Lane HGL! That is a GREAT blend!
Padre Piper this is very and if I don’t I would surely send it to you lol! Take care bro and be well
Bearded Assassins is English Oriental is closer than proper English... But neither of them were the same latakia flavor
I think Magnum Opus a closer match to FM blends.
Great video Padre!
DukeCity Piper, well, now of course, I’ll have to put in an order for some. Thanks for adding to my TAD! 🤣
Great selections Padre I would add on white knight by hearth and home excellent blend
You know, I've got a couple tins of White Knight in the cellar, but have yet to try it. How does it match up against Blackhouse in your opinion?
Not as heavy on the Latakia taste close to cellar in my opinion but very good it's supposed to be modeled after Balkan Sobranie which I never tried
Mmmmm... I'm going to have to crack a tin and give it a try!!!
Let me know what you think I would love to have you're take on it.
I just got a 100g tin of frog Morton on the bayou, sealed, no rust on the can, Dated 2007. Is it worth anything? I do not smoke pipes and have no idea.
I love Black house. It's like the original Frog Morton but bolder
Yes! A GREAT blend! Thank you for stopping by, my friend!
Great video! I ordered ip some more Boswells and got Countryside and some Christmas Cookie the the woman. 👍
Blessings brother.
You are awesome. Which one is the closest to FM Cellar? I mean that is currently available online
Try Samuel Gawith Bothy Flake. Virginia /Latakia and whisky. Exactly what FM cellar contains.
Man, I bet a church service sounds like movie trailer narration.
Holy Eucharist.... coming this Sunday to a church near you.
Rated G for God.
I should add that I love Boswells Countryside and Northwoods...both are excellent non aromatic tobaccos
Superb
2mdcoe very nice choices!
Well done on that mullet sir!
Nicely done Brother, reminds me of the Mayors video.
Are you in Florida by any chance? Just curious, I see the tropical trees! Wonder if you are, how you feel about the winters here.
THE PUFFING ALIEN 👽 AT SPACEMAN TV 📺, you’re in the right neighborhood, but off just a tad. I’m in Louisiana, in the suburbs of New Orleans.
Padre Piper Wow! Sounds nice!
I've also tried Father Dempsey, Stokkebye (sp?) Luxury English, and GL Pease Quiet Nights & those are all pretty good blends, as well -- some you mentioned in your vid ... but Black House & HGL stood out among all these ones I've found so far ...
bamagtrdude when are you going to make some more videos? I’m a subscriber of yours.
Exactly the same shape I got from Dunhill, same finish, same size. Enjoy.
If you are coming to Provincial Assembly this summer in Plano, maybe we could meet up for a pipe.
Your Lucky in America, so any brands to choose from.
Looks like my old rectory ;-)
Just got yourself a subscriber
Thank you for the sun! I hope you enjoy the videos. 😁
how close does C&D star of the East come to frog Morton? could it potentially be closer if you add a touch of Lane BCA to it?
Jah'an Luik, is love to hear how some of your blending projects turn out, especially if you can approximate FM!
Ive heard tht sutliff no5 is a match for fmc... More of a lat bomb is Pirate Kake 75% latakia
How do you spell the name of the pipe? Im gonna try to acquire one.
I think the pipe I'm smoking in that video is my Rattrays Old Gowrie. It's the same name as their pipe tobacco.
I hear from a lot of pipesmokers that Star of the East flake is much better then the mixture.
They are about two years old now
A Man of discriminating tastes.
It's the nicotine in the English blends.
Why can't we get Syrian tabacco any more?.... Oh yeah because of the proxy war being fought there where women and kids are getting bombs dropped on them. Bless you father.
So is he a real Priest...or anglican or something?
father your ids are great, but we are all sad with respect to the best blenders quitting, i feel they did this out of bitterness, when u have a million bucks r buss you dont just quit you???? sell it or at least sell the blends, make sence????they were just mad at the govt, and were nt thinking of there customers...i have heard the owner spak he is a cocky wise guy i have no respect for mccllends.
Sadly. I hate to have to say it, but its a fact.

dang.. I don't know how to retrieve your message. I'm looking, lol
Ha! I'll email you. I think you sent your email address in the message. I very seldom check youtube messages just because I can't figure out how to do it from my iPhone. I can only do it on a computer by going to TH-cam --> Creator Studio --> Community --> Messages
Catholic priest?
Are u a cĺergyman?...Isn't your body suppose to be the Temple of the Holy Spirit?
Are you blind or just a troll??
Catholicism is a false doctrine. Just so you are aware. Jesus is the only way. Only one Father in Heaven. Good day 👍
SuperGlide Fletch! Way to troll your hatred! BTW, I’m an Anglican not a Catholic. Details don’t seem to matter to you though, so just move on.
God bless.
Padre Piper That’s what I thought. You can’t. Dad. I call him Dad. Mr or Ms last name.
What do you think about Presbyterian tobacco?
