All this (great info about) fixing of the sprinkler heads … is my reward for 30 minutes excavating a little 12 inch hole around the sprinkler in my cement-hard karst mud here in Austin, TX.
Thanks for the video, I purchased a house which is over 20 years old with an irrigation well pump for the sprinkler system. Front yard pop ups are not popping all the way up when using the RainBird ESP controller in the house, but when I turn the valve on from the gound box they work fine with no problems (Valves are CP-100). Any suggestions on what I may need to do to fix this issue?
Hey creative, It may be your controller. We replaced a malfunctioning one last year - younger than yours. Check the battery 1st. Then maybe try to run thru a cycle and test the wire leads with a multi/meter to see if power is being sent to the valves. Also - worst case??? Cut wire? Look up doing a continuity test to make sure wire is uncut all the way to the valve. Hope you get it figured out!! Thx for watching!
Hey Demis…, If it’s a side inlet, that’s just a different design for the incoming water supply as opposed to ours where the water enters the head at the bottom. Thx for watching!
Thanks for posting. I installed new sprinkler head but not enough pressure to push valve all the way up. The other ones all work fine. Not sure what went wrong?
Hey J C, Unless it is stuck, you probably don’t have enough water pressure to to lift all of the sprinklers. Test it and see. You can put restrictors ( mesh screens) in some smaller sprinklers to build up the pressure behind the sprinklers. Or in the rotary sprinkler, you can put in lower flow nozzles. Hope you find/ found a way. Thx for watching!
This happened to me; just now. I unscrewed the head, took it off and turned on my system to push any blockage out of the system. Also I took the head and bumped it on my palm a few times. Some mud and small pebbles came out. I screwed the head back on and the sprinkler worked fine. Thank you houseBarons, you saved me some money.
I noticed this was in front of your home..i have same problem...do i need to shut of water from main line in front where sidewalk(city) is..or as long as my valve is off i can still do it?
Hey M14.., No. Even if your sprinkler system is charged ( main lines full of water), the water does not go to the sprinkler head till the specific zone is selected on the control box. So if you haven't turned it on and selected that zone to open that valve, then you can work away. All valves are in off position at rest.Thx for watching!
Hey Rhonda, That screw, if turned a few rotations clockwise, will reduce water flow or even stop it completely. Counterclockwise lets more water out. Thx for watching!
Hey Gail, I’m guessing the ground around the sprinkler has sunken a bit. Could add new week by week and see if that helps the water flow away from the sprinkler head. Thx for watching!
I found value in this video. I don’t understand why there is a comment saying “nothing about repairs.”Thank you house barons for taking the time to show the adjustment of the heads, gear driven heads and tools to adjust the arc of the spray. I have 2 heads that are bent backwards and need to be re set in the ground. My grass at the curb is not getting watered because of it. This was a great video of how to adjust and replace. Saved me time and money. thx.

Hey Quentin,
Sounds like fun! Thx for watching!
Thank you so much you did an awesome job explaining. I got tired of paying 45 bucks just to change a sprinkler head, I can now do this myself.

Great video! I actually have an inlet attached to my rainbird. What is an inlet used for?
Hey Demis…,
If it’s a side inlet, that’s just a different design for the incoming water supply as opposed to ours where the water enters the head at the bottom.
Thx for watching!
Thank you so much, you are the best!!
Glad it helped! Thank you for watching!
Awesome info for adjustments!! Thanks!!

Man, Thx for breaking it down! 👍
Hey star…,
Thx for watching!
Really helped me on a work project 👍
Great video!! Thank you
Thanks for sharing. My sprinkler is too high form ground so it gets hit by the grass cutter since the tube is not deep enough. Thanks
Hey Jorge,
Cool!. Thx for watching!
You don't have to use Teflon tape? Thanks for the video.
Hey Chris,
No need at all.
Thx for watching!
Thank you!
Hi Tammy, you're welcome! Hope all goes well with your sprinkler system this summer, good luck!
Hi! Awesome video thanks 👍😊👌😁😎
Hey Alex,
Thx for all the praise and for watching!
What is the small screw in the middle of the pop up?
Hey Rhonda,
That screw, if turned a few rotations clockwise, will reduce water flow or even stop it completely. Counterclockwise lets more water out. Thx for watching!
I was watching this great video, but was hoping to see "how to repair a broken rotor ."
Thanks for the idea - I'll add it to the list!
Why do some of my heads pool water when on?
Hey Gail,
I’m guessing the ground around the sprinkler has sunken a bit. Could add new week by week and see if that helps the water flow away from the sprinkler head. Thx for watching!
why do you guys never demonstrate the most important LEFT stop setting
And here I was expecting it to be a royal pain to fix. About 10 bucks for a new head and I should be good to go.
Hey Joshua..,
You are right - pretty straight forward!
EASY.........SURE!
Hi Linda, give it a try, you can definitely do this, let us know how it works out!
NOTHING about repairs in here.
