  • Its been a year sine I have officially been divorced and I thought an update video on life after divorce would be a good idea in the hopes that it helps someone.
I opened it up for you al to ask me questions and I'm so glad I did. You all asked great questions like if I thought I would love again or if I resented my ex or if we have any contact at all.

Ashley, you have come so far and are doing so well at starting over. You are so sweet for wanting to share your experiences in hopes of encouraging others. As for your divorce, you were so gracious, extremely patient and more understanding than most people would have been considering the impossible situation you had thrust upon you. It is no surprise that you suffer a bit of ptsd from time to time. I am so glad you had your faith, your parents and so many other people who love you and were able to help you make it through your healing. It is good to be cautious and yet also good that you are willing to try again to find love. I will be hoping and praying that you find your happy ever after. God bless you!

    Ash,
This was in my opinion, the best vlog you have done thus far on your channel so pure, open & honest. It reminded me of Tropical storm Ashley in Croatia & Real people in Brussels when u allowed viewers to see how your heart truly beats. You have come a very long way from that eventful life changing moment December 2017 while in Copenhagen. Up to that point you had 11 wonderful years with someone
you loved so it did work. NO longer beat yourself up over change. that was just part of your journey, chapters in your life novel, your book is still being written. U have taken the time to reevaluate your life, see what that looks like, discover new parts of Ashley like living alone for the very first time, falling in love with someone new and having your very own channel on TH-cam. Could u have even imagined that some 5 years ago?. Yes we make plans(Marriage/The Wayaway) but God has other plans. What made me proud was u sticking to your values which your amazing Parents taught you. It was that solid foundation which you have rebuilt upon. I hope that we have encouraged you to get out there and travel has been replaced by, I hope that I have encouraged you to be brave.
    THANKS FOR SHARING

As time passes, you will feel even more secure in your situation. I would caution against remarrying so soon. Finding yourself is more important than finding another person to please. I married twice, and divorced in less than 5 years. I have a daughter who is now age 55. I like being independent, and find joy in my daughter, her family, and my hobbies.

Just stumbling across this video after your Cardiff City Tour video found its way onto my recommended videos list. Really interesting hearing your answers. I got divorced roughly a year ago but my ex-wife and I had separated 3 years ago when she made the decision that she didn't want to be in the marriage any more. I can relate to a lot of what you say even though our circumstances were quite different but essentially very similar.
You've handled it all very well and should be very proud. There is no shame or guilt in your divorce. Divorce is certainly a grey issue and not as black and white as some make out. It sounds like you feel the same as I do now where as painful and unwanted as the whole process was we've definitely come out of it in a better place. I also now look back on my marriage with a focus on the happy times which were plentiful rather than the heart breaking end to it.
Really pleased to see things have worked out for you now and you've seen the sense to move to Wales! You'll love it here!

Ash, you’re attractive, intelligent and very, very charming with the cutest smile! It’s only a matter of time before someone special will enter your life and adore you. Granted, your marriage didn’t work out for circumstances beyond your control but you have so much going for you that will bring someone into your life and change your world forever. Focus on doing the things that bring joy into your life, whether it’s travel or decorating your home or spending time with friends & family and leave the past behind.
In many ways, dwelling on what caused you heartache and pain is a lot like dragging an anchor when you’re trying to set sail because it’s tough to move forward if you’re tied up with your past. Keep your bearings in a different direction and enjoy the ride! Your fans have your back and wish you the best!

I got divorced many years ago and it really was the most difficult, challenging time of my life. Now, I am so happy and I love how strong I am. It has been such a joy to see you emerge from a very dark time in your life the way that you have. You possess so many great qualities: honesty, wisdom, self-reflection, gratefulness, the ability to let go of resentment and anger. There is no way you're not going to have a fabulous life, no matter what hurdles you may come across. Oh, by the way, I have three young-adult daughters, and I sometimes put Winging It videos on when they're around because I think you are such an admirable young woman.

Your family was there to pick you up and care for you. Just like a bereavement, these were the things you needed. Now your spirit can recover. Be brave and take advantage of the joys that await you.

Your story definitely resonates with me, I married for the first time at age 20 and with the intention of staying married forever. I probably stayed too long in a toxic relationship because I refused to give up on our marriage. After 11 years it all fell apart. Divorced saddened me but I know I had tried my best to make it work. I actually met my second husband-to-be quite quickly, but we were only friends for a couple of years as we lived a couple of hours apart, but this gave us time to grow a friendship before getting involved. But when we did get together we then moved very quickly, getting married and having two beautiful children. We've now been married almost 25 years, we welcomed our first grandchild last year and I retired from work. So my life didn't turn out quite how I expected and I still feel very sad about my first marriage experience but I know I'm in the right place with the right person now.
Ash, please carry on the way you are, you've got this 👍

Your not the only one . I was married 15 years and made so many changes to myself for my ex that I realised he was the one who should have considered who he was. I evolved beyond him and needed to do what was best for me. He wasn't prepared to look at himself, so we divorced. I would never have changed and grown to understand myself as I do now if I hadn't been pressured into someone else's vision. But I found myself and found that the only thing that markers is being the best yourself you can be and good honest decent person x

A relationship, and in particular marriage, is based on trust and security. An environment in which you can be completely yourself, be respected, appreciated and free. If one of those aspects is no longer there, and it cannot be repaired. A good relationship is actually no longer possible. It can of course have various causes. But a relationship that ends comes into a mourning phase. After all, you lose a loved one. This is often accompanied by frustration and anger, including towards yourself. The important conclusion is that it did not work. However, you do possess the skills of loving and falling in love, which you will never lose. You just have to find the moment to use them properly again. The annoying thing is that you are going to compare with a new partner, a big mistake. He or she is never the same, and normally your partner selection was fine. So trust yourself, learn from your own "mistakes". Look at the fun things about your new partner. Take it easy. Be yourself, discover yourself. The answer to success lies in you, you make choices. You can of course live your life freely, but that also has consequences.
Above all, enjoy life. If you have children with a partner, realize that it will always make you a parent. Kind regards.

I got divorced after 40 years and it was the best thing for me. You can change yourself but no one else. There’s no shame in leaving a marriage that was never gonna be right and GOD doesn’t want that for us. Took me long time to understand that but I finally did. GOD has a plan for you and what we go through is either gonna make us or break us. Your strong and a joy. Stay true to who you are.

Love your videos. There's no shame in divorce. I was divorced many years ago. I met my husband of 46 years 6 months after my divorce. We were married 8 months later! We have 2 children and 4 grandchildren now. Trust your heart and instincts!

just saying hi :) . I think the older you get you do appreciate life more. You understand its cruelty and get along with its nonsense. It's not all about highs and lows, it's more about enjoying the time spent in the middle.

I used to work in the court years ago as an interpreter, and I have heard some really awful stories. Many people got married to the wrong person.

There are things that I could say from my own perspective of what happened, but they are third party opinions and--ultimately--it's none of my business to have an opinion on your life. So, I just want to say that your feelings, all of the feelings, are valid. I understand the guilt and shame, and sadness; whether we *should* feel those things is irrelevant, because those feelings exist. It's okay. You're okay. Jesus took the wheel. Thank God for your family, friends, and your faith. I'm so happy to see you where you are today! You are SO amazing! Thank you for sharing with us. I wish you all the best. God bless ❤️

The world is full of new beginnings. The last video I saw was you on a huge ship called Symphony. The world has changed since then and how much everyone took for granted the freedom to be able to meet in huge crowds in the middle of a huge ship and get a drink from a robot bartender giving little concern about whom had filled the drinks or who last sat on a deck chair... or noticing someone have a regular cough...and as you said on your video, keep moving forward... well, Odyssey is currently on sea trials, hopefully cruising will resume and should see your video on Odyssey at launch or sometime? I think in life, it is fair not to let others make you live your life for them so to fit their spheres of influence.

God’s plan is always better than ours. Not that He wants us to experience heartache but I think there are things we learn from each experience in how we can relate to others or things we will discover about ourselves before we move forward. I think this is true for both you and your ex. Thanks for being honest, Ash. God bless you.

    Hey Ash
Sorry you feel ashamed about your divorce. I'm not sure you should. It was obviously a very difficult situation. You need to find your happy! Maybe I'm missing things as someone that doesn't follow any faith.
Keep strong and walking upwards and onwards!

I am sure you are correct in thinking that her faith is what makes her divorce appear to cause her a noticeable amount of sadness. I am also a Christian and carried a great deal of guilt when I divorced because it quite simply goes against everything we are taught from the Bible. Marriage is intended to be forever. Unfortunately, there are circumstances beyond our control sometimes when the other person does not end up holding marriage by the same standard. Not much you can do about it then but it still makes you feel like you have failed and a bit ashamed to have not lived up to the promise you made to God.

Don't rush into anything too soon. Beware of men who are too nice and understanding. I had some challenges with a man in Australia. Beware of when love fades and they grow tired of you. What helped me is to focus on something else and surrender to God's will. In your case, there is nothing to go back to with your ex. Go forward but remember that people and life are unpredictable.
