I LOVE the design of his character. So wonderfully arch and very comic book. Tommy Lee Jones’s Two Face is fun, albeit a poor adaptation of the character.
Two Face in the rejected design with splashes of blood looks like a million bucks and sorta looks like the Scott Snyder look in DC Rebirth. Black and red suit.
Also, Batman Forever was the first Batman movie I ever got to see in theater and it was at a Drive In theatre of all things. So the nostalgia runs deep with this one
I Loved Two-Face. Honestly Makes This Movie Intriguing and Classic. We didn’t Need Tommy Lee Jones playing Clint Eastwood(Two) and Mel Gibson(Harvey). Thanks For This Video 🙏🏽
I love Tommy Lee's Jones portrayal of Two Face in Batman Forever. because he did alot that I wanted from a Two Face performance, more so & definitely better then Aaron Eckhart's version of the character. "Have the Good Taste to Die". :)
I agree I still feel the two-face part of the dark knight was unnecessary and still feels like it was put it to stretch the movies run time Harvey should have been held over for what we know as the dark knight rises like scarecrow was held over for the dark knight
What bums me out is that Jones missed an amazing opportunity to play the character as dark opposite the light-hearted Riddler. They would’ve contrasted so beautifully, and Jones already HATED Carrey. He wouldn’t have even had to act.
I didn't like the color palette of Two-Face's evil half, but I'm guessing it came about because the Riddler was already using a lot of green. Still, TLC was really good in the role.
I agree with you about Tommy Lee Jones. But I wholeheartedly disagree with you about Jack Nicholson's Joker IMO he's the most comic book accurate version of the joker More than Heath Ledger or Jered letto
I do admit that Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face was over the top ( Honestly he made a perfect Mr. Freeze ) but he was very entertaining. I don't think that he trying to upstage Jim Carey but trying to make his character more derange.
My fan explanation for this Two-Face: After Harvey's accident, he began hearing a voice in his head. The voice of a criminal. A voice that began to talk to Harvey. The voice began to speak of the "true" nature of life & justice, proclaiming that random chance was the only true order. With how grief stricken he was, Harvey thought about his own tragedy & all the tragedies in the world, & began to understand & even agree with this philosophy, & adopted it himself. The voice then talked to Harvey of the gain & power to be won in crime. After listening to the voice, Harvey consciously, willingly, & eagerly "partnered" with the "other", forming a deadly team between the "two", & turned his life's goal into terrorizing & plundering Gotham City, & attempting to end Batman at every turn, with the "help" of this new "man". "Both" seemed to have equal say in all of Harvey's actions & referred to "themselves" as "we", both were equally cunning & in the plotting & execution of devastating crimes, & "both" took great joy & pleasure in causing as much panic & chaos as "they" possibly could, especially when it meant tangling with Batman as "both" hoped to make him meet his end. "Both" had methods, plans, & paths for schemes that "each" would bring to the table. When making decisions with the coin, "they" didn't choose between good & evil so much as choosing between two paths or choices that "they" had in "minds", & sometimes, "they both" would hope for a certain outcome or be satisfied with a certain path, e.i. killing Dick's parents & killing Bruce/Batman. Because of the accident, "both" of "them" wanted Batman dead; Harvey because he blamed Batman for what happened to him (or "them" as he puts it), & the "other" for "his" own reasons, so when the Riddler told "them" not to kill Bruce, "they" went about flipping the coin, with the "good" side being "not killing", & the "bad" side being "killing", & the "two" of "them" rigged it by flipping until "they" got the side "they both" wanted, & "they" could tell Riddler that it was out of "their" hands as "they" live "their" life by obeying the coin. During Harvey's (unknown) final moments, "they" are getting ready to take the shot, but Batman/Bruce reminded Harvey of his coin & his life mantra, presenting it like a friend helping him, so because of this, Harvey sympathized with Bruce & thanked him for being a good friend, stating, "Emotion's always the enemy of true justice".
9:38 Key word in that picture is "TRIED", Vee. There's a reason of why everyone compares TLJ's Two Face with Nicholson's Joker, and it's not because he's doing a good job at copying him.
People need to recognize Billy Dee Williams Two face, yes he didn’t get to play Two face in the burton films, but he did get to play him in the Lego Batman movie. And he had a super cool look, and drove this really badass construction equipment with different designs on each side
Batman Forever was the first movie I watched in the cinema as a kid. Along with the BTAS it made a fan. Tommy Lee Jones was perfect cast just wasn’t the Two-Face from the comics or BTAS.
Even though Batman forever's Two-Face was wierd, there is one thing I like about him. In the comics his disfigured face was green because of the acid. I like that in live action two face look is all red and The Riddler is green, it creates a contrast.
11:06/ Jesus Christ, I didn't even think such a product existed! That is a damn near duplicate of TLJ as Two-Face! Anybody know the name of the company that made this work of art?
I'm also enjoyed this look of Two-face and Batman Forever who really reflect his duality, also, maybe he didn't reflect his motive because with Jim Carrey and he become like second Riddler.
Totally hit the nail on the head here. I had the very same assessment when I first watched that movie. He may have seemed like he had a split personality, but both sides didn't seem all that different. Batman: The Animated Series really was (at least for me) the definitive reimagining of the entire Batman universe, and their depiction of Two-Face was spot-on. No surprise that the movie didn't really consider any other source material for their depiction.
Jones's Two-Face was good in the very first scene he appears in, doing that monologue. Then he starts laughing and it all goes downhill from there. It's a shame because if he played it straight and maintained that initial tone, he would've actually been a great Two-Face.
If Tommy Lee Jones was Two-Face in "The Dark Knight", I think he wouldve been in competition with Heath for the Oscar. He has such a great "Lawman" presence (Just watch "The Fugitive), he truly could've given us something special
I'm gonna be completely honest. Sometimes I don't agree with your opinion, like heath ledger's joker, but I still watch daily. Bc your very entertaining and understanding when it comes down SIMPLY to opinion. And I seriously enjoy that about your content.
I think the biggest different between Tommy Lee Jones and Aaron Eckhart, other than the stetics, is in what's the purpose of their characters.... -Eckhart's Two Face was more like a plot device than an actual character, the reason for Batman to take the "hard choice", to take blame on Harvey's murders to protect his image in order to save Gotham's soul..... Apart from that, all that is established is that he likes justice, he is incorruptible (until he gets corrupted), and that he has a temper.... In short, very vague character traits, right? -From the very beginning of "Batman Forever" is clearly set that Tommy Lee's Harvey IS a character. He has his manierism, he has his goons, his weapons, his crazy plans, etc.... You can see he hates Batman with the passion, and that the coin posses him completely. You may not like this version, or like it but think that Eckhart's version is better, but you can't deny Tommy Lee is one of the main characters in his movie, while Eckhart's version feels more like a secondary character. Thanks for reading so far.....now..... HAVE THE GOOD TASTE TO DIE!.....
Also the rest of the major characters are brought into the film directly as a response to Two-Face's presence: Batman leaps into the opening battle because of Two-Face, Chase is brought in to consult on Two-Face's activities, Robin motive to exist is due to Two-Face slaughtering his family, and Riddler was only able to rise through the ranks of the criminal underworld by partnering with Two-Face. He is literally THE most important character.
Two-Face is your favorite Batman character? Maybe you could expand upon that... if you want. You know, more Two-Face directed videos (such as "Who is the best Two-Face?", "What the character of Two-Face could've/should've been", and stuff like that). Just a thought, if you want... Also he's not my favorite but I would like reasons and insights to like the overall character because despite him seeming outclassed by villains like Joker and Riddler, I still feel like there is some depth to him that's missing from my perspective that makes him different and unique from the others and not just some 50% angry-50% not angry crime dude who could've been but isn't the flair of a corrupted justice do'er like Pain from Naruto
0:55 Oh THE HATE FLOWS... But not from me Sir, Oh No! In fact - @Vee Infuso ... I don't even need to start hearing you defend the Batman Forever Two Face - As I already agree with you! Two Face was FANTASTIC... Jim Carrey as the Riddler, Yeah thats a bit of a "Sore Point" for me - I mean, I liked his take as The Riddler, but at the same time it was Jim Carrey being Jim Carrey!!! And I don't blame Jim Carrey for that... This film came after The Mask and thats what Hollywood Wanted, Jim Carrey being Jim Carrey! He is a talented man who got typecast for a long while! 13:25 OUCH! Arron Eckhart's Two Face... I Loved it! How dare you... No Wait! OH GOD NO! WHY!!! WHY DO I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU AGAIN!? IT'S NOT FAIR! OK! Yeah, Eckhart's Two Face was more realistic in looks... But yeah, I do actually get you - Two Face is more than just a Look... It's the Personality as well and that was lacking in the Dark Knight Trilogy so I DO HAVE TO AGREE!!! Between Tommy Lee Jones and Arron Eckhart there is a PERFECT TWO FACE! But on their own both are flawed! I mean, Tommy Lee Jones drinking from TWO GLASSES... That is TWO FACE!!! We got none of that with Eckhart... So, "Have the good taste to die!" Vee Infuso... Damn you! You got me agreeing with you again! LOL! But yeah, I will always have a lot of love for the Batman Forever Two Face and I am not ashamed!
I re-watched Batman Forever in the back-half of last year, and I ended up enjoying it far more than I expected: It’s a near perfect balance between the tone of the Burton films, and the 60s show, and if you view it as a big-budget version of the show, Tommy Lee Jones’ Two-Face, among other choices, make much more sense. Personally, I much prefer The Dark Knight Two-Face in terms of characterisation & overall performance… but Tommy Lee Jones’ works in the film he’s in, and the design is such a great translation of the comic book design. I’d love to see a Two-Face, one day, on screen that somehow melds the comic book/realism look perfectly… or just leans into the former, give me a classic Two-Face with the green or blue face, give me that black and white suit, give me the wild hair on the burned side, really commit to it.
You kinda hit over the head why I like this performance. It's completely opposite to every other role I've seen him in. It's not a great comics two-face, but its a spot on 'what if Two-Face was in the 60's series' Two-Face. They play up his split personality gimmick that also highly reflects in his base, his two arm candies, and to some degree his henchmen. As much as I like Two-Face, I can't hate this performance because its such fun and energetic from an actor typically not known for that while giving us a vision of a version of the character that never was. And yes, it works perfectly for Batman Forever becuase it's trying to find the right line between Burton's darker films, and the lighter family friendly direction WB wanted after the backlash of Returns. And you don't get much more family Friendly then the Adam West series. And yeah, I didn't care for the design of TDK Two-Face, he just doesn't look right to me, and he never really captured the charisma and personality that Harvey ususally has. He just feels like a wet fart of a two-face. LIke if Forever Two-Face is overdoing it, then TDK is under doing it.
Lately it's felt like more and more often I just want a video done on the two batman telltale seasons especially if two-face is your favorite of all time and he was everywhere in season 1
Tbh, I like this version of Two-Face too. That being said, I think how Mr. Schummacher should have written the character's portrayal would be like this: Two-Face would constantly be at odds with each other, just like in the comics. There could be scenes in the movie where his good side ( Harvey ) would constantly argue with his bad side ( Big Bad Harv/Two-Face ).

Read the batman 89 comic
I still wonder what it would have been like if their plans to have Clint Eastwood play two face in the '60s series would have came to fruition
On another note Two Face in the Batman Forever video game was pretty epic too! He had two fighting styles depending on which side he was facing & to top it off the coin flip gave him health!!
Love the Movie & the Game💙🎬
Always thought it was a cool nod seeing the Two-Face and Riddler costume, in Batman & Robin. 🎞
I love to see Tommy Lee Jones come back as two face. He seems to have fun with the roll. He my favorite all so.
Great job!!! How bout a video examining Chase Meridian??? Or all the rest of the characters??? Like Alfred, Jim Gordon, or Bf’s Batman
Love your Channel dude
Thanks
I LOVE the design of his character. So wonderfully arch and very comic book. Tommy Lee Jones’s Two Face is fun, albeit a poor adaptation of the character.
Two Face in the rejected design with splashes of blood looks like a million bucks and sorta looks like the Scott Snyder look in DC Rebirth. Black and red suit.
"Have the good taste to die" Keep doing ya thing Vee
Also, Batman Forever was the first Batman movie I ever got to see in theater and it was at a Drive In theatre of all things. So the nostalgia runs deep with this one
Tommy Lee Jones was super energetic in Under Siege.
loved your take, your so right by saying its the "look" & "aesthetic" were very enjoyable ! #releasetheschumachercut
I hate this movie, but consider Tommy to be the one saving grace. He was really fun.
TLJ’s Two Face has a lot of meme potential IMO.
It wasn't his fault, it was just bad writing.
Your intro got me in tears!!!
"BLAST HIM!! 💥💥💥" 😭😭
“ let’s start this party with a bang!” is one of my favorite lines he said
Me and my buddy were watching Batman Forever (quite drunk) a while back and came to a conclusion:
Two Face should have been Black Mask.
Overall I think Batman forever is a good movie if you just ignore the stuff that came before and after it and just judge it as it’s own thing
What bums me out is that Jones missed an amazing opportunity to play the character as dark opposite the light-hearted Riddler. They would’ve contrasted so beautifully, and Jones already HATED Carrey. He wouldn’t have even had to act.
Dude was a cartoon
I didn't like the color palette of Two-Face's evil half, but I'm guessing it came about because the Riddler was already using a lot of green. Still, TLC was really good in the role.
I agree with you about Tommy Lee Jones.
But I wholeheartedly disagree with you about Jack Nicholson's Joker IMO he's the most comic book accurate version of the joker
More than Heath Ledger or Jered letto
Agreed! I always thought he was the best part of the movie...
Do tell, I'm intrigued to hear more. For real
People thought he was doing a impression on joker but I heard he watched the trickster Mark hamil and did that performance.
This Two face should’ve been in dark knight,NGL.
This was my introduction to two face.
A great actor once said to Jim Carrey, "I will NOT sanction your buffoonery."
I really enjoyed his Two-Face. For many of the same reasons you mentioned.
I do admit that Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face was over the top ( Honestly he made a perfect Mr. Freeze ) but he was very entertaining. I don't think that he trying to upstage Jim Carey but trying to make his character more derange.
My fan explanation for this Two-Face:
After Harvey's accident, he began hearing a voice in his head.
If you want a glimpse of what might have been, check out the Batman 89 graphic novel, the Batman 3 we never got.
Batman Forever was the first movie I watched in the cinema as a kid. Along with the BTAS it made a fan.
Tommy Lee Jones was perfect cast just wasn’t the Two-Face from the comics or BTAS.
Love your Batman content!
Tbh this video was quite refreshing. I am glad someone else likes the perfomance as well.
I've never agreed quite so strongly with one of your opinions. TLJ could have given us a little "less is more". I blame Joel Schumacher's direction.
Never been this early and for something this nostalgic ❤️
Now vee I and a lot of viewers would like to see you talk about the dark knight two face.
One of the worst things in Batman Forever. TLJ's Two Face is bad writing with a Jack Nicholson's Joker performance
Aron eckhart looked so realist was a great Harvey dent . He needed way more time tho to be fleshed out as two-face sucks he was killed off really
Jones's Two-Face was good in the very first scene he appears in, doing that monologue. Then he starts laughing and it all goes downhill from there. It's a shame because if he played it straight and maintained that initial tone, he would've actually been a great Two-Face.
Personally, I really liked the novelization of Batman Forever. I do enjoy the movie tho
Good to know I'm not the only one who prefers the Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face over Aaron Eckhart's.
I'm still waiting for the Schumacher cut of BATMAN FOREVER.
Is the who is the best catwoman gonna come out? I heard you talk about it in a video but it never came out
I've always hated how Tommy's facial makeup has a perfectly straight line down the middle.
Bring Tommy Lee Jones back for the upcoming Batgirl movie as a cameo
If Tommy Lee Jones was Two-Face in "The Dark Knight", I think he wouldve been in competition with Heath for the Oscar. He has such a great "Lawman" presence (Just watch "The Fugitive), he truly could've given us something special
My main reference for these characters is Batman The Animated Series which ended the same year this came out, so my opinion is pretty limited.
I'm gonna be completely honest. Sometimes I don't agree with your opinion, like heath ledger's joker, but I still watch daily. Bc your very entertaining and understanding when it comes down SIMPLY to opinion. And I seriously enjoy that about your content.
Can we see more of the two face merch?
I loved his rendition of 2face too.😁
I had the action figure that came with the coin.
I can't see Brandon Routh without think F Shaw!
Oh
@@youknowwhoyouare2269 .....XDXD
Also the rest of the major characters are brought into the film directly as a response to Two-Face's presence: Batman leaps into the opening battle because of Two-Face, Chase is brought in to consult on Two-Face's activities, Robin motive to exist is due to Two-Face slaughtering his family, and Riddler was only able to rise through the ranks of the criminal underworld by partnering with Two-Face. He is literally THE most important character.

@@RyGuy-fi4zx Thanks!
6:32 ...Of course there's a resemblance, look at them.... They're like two drops: one of wine, the other of water.... Both are liquids!!
Also, have you read Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum graphic novel? I'd be interested in your take on Harvey's appearance in that story.
Yeah yeah you’re crazy vee
He just needed a better script
He was cast as he was BIG in the 90's. This cast is a big 90's cast bar Robin.
I did like the suits. He for sure looked the part.
There could be scenes in the movie where his good side ( Harvey ) would constantly argue with his bad side ( Big Bad Harv/Two-Face ).
appreciate your take on two face! completly disagree with your Joker take but awesome video man!
He was Acting Really goofy but i do remember liking that..i havent watched B:TAS much so i didnt had some "ultimate Two-Face" in my mind when i went to see the movie.
