The phono input of the Electrophonic stereo is designed for a ceramic cartridge, not magnetic. It is essentially a line-level input, just with a higher impedance to match a ceramic cartridge, which were typical on low-end turntables and record changers back in the '70s.
This certainly explains why the level was so low. It probably also explains the lack of bass, as the RIAA EQ curve is probably not being applied to the input. Thank you for your comment.
Nice Find with the CD Duplicator. Looks like a fun piece of tech to mess with
I had one of these at a place where I worked back in '06. It was a VERY expensive piece of gear at the time!
I love this series. I guessed that 9 would work. Impressive that that old VHS camcorder still works.
Thank you! I've actually acquired enough stuff over the last few days to do yet another one of these, but I want to space this series out a bit. Expect Vol. 5 sometime mid to late March.
i wonder what that tape had on it
Whoot! a Risky Thrifting episode always makes my day!!
it is a part of the game to take a chance and risk some $$$
I always smash that like button :)
see you next time
Absolutely! I'll be out seeking treasures for Part 5 later today! Thank you for smashing the "like"!
Great find on the monitor and disc duplicator. Those usb to Gameport type wires are almost always junk on current gen hardware.
I will be cleaning up the monitor and making it the default for my test bench machine! And I really like the duplicator. The software menu has the capability to write from an HDD image, but there is no HDD installed. I might try to add one! Good to know on the gameport to USB adapter...
8-track: it probably has some issues, but I think it may have been given away for being “obsolete”, not because it was broken
disc duplicator: might have an issue or two but still be usable
camcorder: it probably has an issue due to its complexity
dual cassette jam box: 50/50 chance it works well
scouting camera: i would assume it works well, minimal issues
dvd/vcr player: it may have an issue or two, not sure
dell monitor: it looks like it might work, but who would give this away?
usb to game port: pretty sure that works
amplifier: may have a small annoyance in the audio, otherwise fine (unless there is corrosion)
power strip: probably works, who would give a broken power strip to goodwill?
Every now and then, a computer monitor with decent specs shows up at Goodwill. I figure this happens when someone upgrades to something bigger, ultraHD, less latency, etc. Thank you for playing!
My guess is 8/10
That is 60/60 of game
