I’m heading down for the weekend on Memorial Day and I am HYPE, im also going in July for my bday for a whole week but excited to get a little taste of the wild woods
The style of architecture harkins back to Alladin Redi Cut Homes of the 1920's or Sears catalog Bungalows. The Mid Century vibe makes the connection ffrom these early bungalows that populated 5 Mile Island, to the Mid Century motels of Wildwood that's now define it's character. The name Mudhen is derived from the train that traveled from West Jersey Railroad running from Cape May Court House to Anglesea starting in 1883. The train was unreliable, but it was a vast improvement over the wagons and boats that had brought the earliest visitors across the meadow. Local residents called the train the “Mud Hen” since the engine, whose tracks were laid across the wetlands, frequently found itself derailed at high tide. The passengers and crew would sit, stranded in the bog, until low tide when they shifted the tracks back into position, and continued on to Anglesea. The pool feels undersized for the lot it's sited at. The stark white interior could be warmed up with pastel tones.

Hopefully this inspires Mudhen to do motels, and not the continued gentrification of Wildwood with projects like this.
They’re appealing, but they don’t look very comfortable.
Hope they're year round, monthly rentals. Seasonal ONLY does nothing for the local male homeless problem. To bad they don't just identify as women😂🤣
