Very decent work! It actually may be German, as the hardware (locks and handles) do look German. They were made in this design even a few decades after WW II in Germany, and I have a few of these (in use and spare NOS). Best wishes from Germany!
Can anybody out there tell me if shellac is a version of varnish and were can they purchased from and would it be identified as shellac on the label thanks
Shellac is what Cabinet Makers used to polish furniture in the olden days. Its not the same as varnish as its not waterproof why wax is added to protect the finish, it can be bought on Ebay in flake form and just add alcohol.
Here in the states you can buy it at just about any hardware store in both liquid in a can or aerosol can. Of course you can also buy shellac flakes and mix your own with denatured alcohol.
I say this is an equipment box, not for ammunition. If it was German equipment you’d think it would have some sort of Waffenamt marks on it. The Germans are so precise about those things/details. 🇦🇺👴🏻
Very nice.
Thank you

You can often buy it ready made in the UK, sold in small (costly) bottles as French Polish.

Do u live near a speedway or race track or something??? It’s just I can hear those noises in the background of this video?
What’s aluminium oxide paper pls? Is that different from normal sandpaper? If it is different, why does this box need different sandpaper pls?
it tends not to clog as much when sanding a finished area
