Extract Beer Using Homebrand Lager Tasting | Did I Make Good Cheap Beer? | Pressure Fermented

  • In this video I taste and evaluate the extract beer using cheap ingredients to find out if it's drinkable and if it's worth brewing again. Extract beer ingredients are generally more expensive than all grain beer ingredients but the process is much quicker and easier which is the attraction of brewing with extracts. If you don't have 6 hours to knock out an all grain beer then extract brewing might be a great way to still brew your own beer with the time you have. But generally extract beer kits tend to not taste so good so in this video i will see if I actually made a great tasting beer using a Woolworth's Homebrand Lager extract can adding my own yeast and light dry malt as well as extra hops hot steeped to provide punchier bitterness and a bit of flavour.
I'm still setting up my processes to both capture and produce brewing content for my channel and my format will likely change in the future. I hope you enjoy watching my brewing process and if you have any questions you can contact through the links below.

Cuvée sounds good to me… we just did a month live panel thing of us tasting mixed beers and yeah sometimes they work sometimes they don’t but definitely it would help out with a beer that’s having some issues… I came here from Finnroo’s channel… Great find …I look forward to more videos! Cheers!

did you scrub the keg? I've heard of ppl scrubbing kegs a bit hard and the first beer they put in gives off slight metallic notes. either way im gonna give this a crack but im gonna bottle it

Hey mate. I’ve just upgraded my brewing system to pretty much exactly what you have. Just wondering if you put thread tape on all the fittings?

    Sounds like oxidation.

It could possibly be that but its a remote possibility as I fermented and transferred under pressure. The beer never saw contact with air at anytime. But with that said the extract might be the issue? Also for me I dont taste oxidation as mettalic in flavour, I get that typical wet papery taste or sherry

@@thebackyardbrewer5611 interesting. Recheck the dates on the extract. Let me know how the redo turns out.
