  • Well I picked up this little 12 inch, vintage Lakewood High Velocity fan at a yard wale for 5 bucks and decided to give it the love it deserved and completely tear it apart and clean and service everything as well as revarnishing the motor and redoing the electrical on it!

      Yea I did lol! It's actually a much lighter blue in person but I like it a lot! Yea I'm trying my best to post one every other weekend. Have to alternate with engine videos to keep everyone happy lol. Next video will likely be an old Lakewood 223 box fan that's very special to me!

    Also if you have some Maguire's car wax it will shine the paint up. Also I like your truck. Love the old look.

      Oooh that's a good idea! I'll have to use that on some of my other fans! Thanks! :) I love it so much lol. It's a ton of fun and I like putting a smile on people's faces with it!

    you could improve the spindown by adding some oil to the mating surfaces between the springed thrust washer and the bearing!?

      @colin_5839  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know, I thought of doing that... after I put it all back together lol. I think I may try that at some point but for right now I'm definitely not going to pull it apart again. It's a bit of a pain with the way the motor is held together. Thanks for Watching!

    When you oiled it did you put oil directly in the bearings or just the felt. I wouldn't recommend only putting it in the felt because you have to run the fan for a long time before the bearing will soak it up. In the time you can cause bearing damage. I would recommend always putting oil all over the bearing surface. If you did this sorry for the long comment.

      No need to apologize! I appreciate the feedback! I always do put a little oil in the bearings directly and then I usually run them for a while to let the other oil start to soak in a bit. Thanks for Watching!

    How can I tell how old one of these are I have a similar bigger one I’d like to know of age.

      I believe that over times the Grills, badges, and motors changed on these a big but I'm not entirely sure. I'd start by checking over the motor as they often have date codes on them, but if not there are several really good groups on FB that have people that know how old these things are. Thanks for Watching Wes!
