Psychiatric service dogs deserve more appreciation, they are so useful and wonderful. I have a multi purpose dog in training and tasks can be really useful for anxiety disorders and other mental disorders. 💖😊
U agreeing the uk itnis hard to het a dog in to a shop unless you are blind and can prove the dog us used for that . It is rwslmt bad whe you think about it because the dogs help a lot.of people out and helps them to get iut and about
Yeah the UK and most other countries have very strict laws on service dogs while it's the opposite in the US and almost too relaxed. But at least in the US you can have a dog for any type of disability.
I got a one year old golden retriever three days ago that im planning on training him to be my psychiatric service dog, and eventually medical alert for migraines, and maybe mobility it depends on what the vet says, and i am really excited to be able to get through the day better when hes trained.
This was so helpful! My first SD was 40 lbs and the largest dog I’ve ever had. I’m considering going smaller for my next one but was worried about a few things, including access due to public perception. I’m glad I ran across this!
I have Lupus. I have trained my service dog for chronic pain management. He detects my flares and mitigates them. He made it possible for me to go out to public places again early in the disease treatment. Now I am better controlled with the disease and more confident. That being said I get challenged in the public about my dog being a service dog. My dog is my health partner. I need him.
From my experience I have a high energy service dog but we are always on the go. I love hiking and going so her energy works out with my lifestyle. So I recommend getting a dog that matches your lifestyle energy
Sometimes I wish I didn't need mobility assistance since I would prefer a smaller dog since I've always had small dogs instead I have a 100lbs goofball who i love immensely
thank you for this video! while i have always been inclined for a bigger dog breed (for specific dpt and the 'angry' look) its always nice to see comparisons
I have a pomapoo, he started as an ESA and is now in training to be a support dog. He does blocking, and alerts me when I am about to have a panic attack as well as pressure and helps to distract when I start to have an episode. I believe ESA are equally supportive as a support dog. No matter the size, support/service animals save lives.
There was someone I think on til too with an Australian cattle dog as a service dog . I think it was her anyway; I’ve been watching a lot of peoples SD videos recently so I get some of them mixed up lol
Just need a quick summary, which one would be better for distracing and/or preventing panic attacks and anxiety, and which one would be better to bring to school
Thanx, you answered all my questions regarding the size of a service dog. 🥰 Both Caspian and Clark are magnificent dogs. Would love your opinion on service dog breeds, are some better than others? Does breed really matter?
Hi, I have a Pembroke I've just started training (very baby steps so far) to be a seizure response and psych service. I have ADHD and autism spectrum. I've had some instruction on teaching scent, and was told to take swabs on my gums and freeze them in a ziplock bags. I know how to train scents from nosework. But dogs are intuitive about odor in their people. My last seizure episodes were scary and she did know something was up.
Golden retriever. I wouldn't reccomend even though they are my heart breed. They have a high risk of cancer you cant advoid (although many people say they can). Labrador retriever is best
Hi I am 22 Your favourite is dog breeds for service dogs for beginners for social anxiety? Looking for a puppy or an older dog as my service dog? I'm thinking a golden retriever or Australian shepherd or Borden collie or flat golden doodle or fb1 golden doodle I have snchoodle and golden doodle I l love agility course and freestyle and dog training I love all dog breeds I want lots dogs My tasks is A puppy that trains for orbit and blocks for social anxiety and stops me when I lose my temper. I did read all service dogs laws
It’s very interesting that people seem to be more lax with Clark than with Caspian..would be great if you could make another corgi specific daily raw meals video
Hey megan this is a great video!!:) it came around a good time for me, i never knew there was actually a thing for psychiatric service dogs, anyhow who can prescribe a service dog? I also wanted to know i hear people say its expensive to have a trained service animal im asking since i have severe anxiety disorder and panic attacks, and might consider this option thanks.
A doctor can prescribe a service dog, the best thing is to have your disability on your medical records. Training can be very expensive, but a lot of it can be done by you. I have a video about how to make your dog a service dog, in my service dog playlist.
Is it normal for a service dog to bark at its reflection in public? I’m asking this because I once saw a girl at Target with a “service dog” and on the cashiers, there’s reflective metal, the dog saw its reflection and started barking. Was this a service dog? And btw the dog didn’t have a vest
I'm looking for an agency to get a dog from (I need a dog trained for mobility support and medical alert for fainting) and I just cant find one that I like
Jumalauta if you have the funds, doggie do good would be an excellent option! I was quoted a minimum of 30k for sent detection, and tasks related to asthma and POTS. I didn’t have the funds to purchase a dog from them so I will be owner training this summer. Good luck!
Talk to your doctor to make sure they agree it's a good idea, figure out tasks your dog could preform to specifically help your disability. You could owner train but if you have no dog training experience I'd recommend going with an organization
you dont need to have a fully trained service dog, training with trainers or owner training are hard work but are cheaper. also, if you have financial troubles in general, there are non-profits with free or close to free service dogs. though these are mainly for mobility and veterans.
@@roms7168 thanks for that info. I did not realize you could self certify a service dog. The specific tasks that I need to train a dog for I think are pretty easy to train: searching the house/ rooms for an intruder, alerting me to strangers behind me, directing me away from them, and just emotional support in general. I noticed I don’t feel as hyper vigilant or stressed out and anxious when a dog is around me that barks when there is a stranger. I have my ESA letter so that’s enough to at least have a dog but going from there I have always been good with training dogs and I think I could do it. Thanks for the info
If I’m having a panic attack from PTSD or having an autistic meltdown, just having my chihuahua jump on me and put his paws on my chest etc can be very helpful :)
your retired service dog ( so so so sorry for not saying the name of your service dog I did no want to spell it wrong ) he has the same birth month as me :)
I think it is so import that the law changes for them . Them dogs will change peoples life and with out then then them people may it go out so there for they are giving there owners a better life so what is the problem
What law needs to change? If you have severe anxiety or other mental health problem, you can take a dog everywhere with you to help you. Confused by this comment.

Great video but I’m 3000% here for the peacock cameo.
Yes I think she was thinking the whole time "this video should be about me"
Terrific video. I had no idea that they could be trained to respond to the smell of cortisole rising. That's so amazingly helpful!

been waiting for a video like this forever

Cortisol is the stress hormone and is what is released during panic/anxiety attacks
Honestly dogs are just the best, my dog isn’t officially anything but she’s pretty much my ESA and I honestly don’t think I’d even be here without her
