What an achievement, not only did you learn all of these in 1 year, but you perfected them, gave them your interpretation, recorded them, then edited and produced said recording. For so many reaons this has to be a first of its kind - THANK YOU for pushing the bar ever higher. This is an amazing collection. I love them all!!!
These performances are remarkable. Tempi, articulation, registration...are all models of musical excellence. Here in the States, too often these works are played too fast, on thin registrations, and with too much detachment. Thank you for a great listening experience.
I always thought that I had heard all of Bach's best pieces. Then kaboom, another beautiful piece! I fell in love with Bach's music when I was young, and this is a love for my whole life. There's still so much to explore!
This recording of the six trio sonatas of Bach is very valuable to me! So rich and complex, too difficult to master so listening is what's left for me. And I love it !!!
Lord Richard, Imho you give Helmut Walcha a run for the money with these your liquid interpretations of these jewels of the organ literature. B-R-A-V-O!!! These are keepers!
A truly great achievement for you. They are of course wonderful music but they also really strengthened ones technique considerably. Learning them over one year is quite remarkable. Great job!!
It's an amazing feat to learn all of the trio sonatas in this last year and it is great that you put them all in one package for today's broadcast. Thanks and congratulations on this fine achievement.
This is so wonderfull Richard! I've learned these triosonates when I had my organlessons back in the 80's. To bad I can't play them anymore, but I've enjoyed your playing! Thank you so much!
What a magnificent achievement Richard, and such crystal clear wonderful performance of all six. Even here (leprosy hospital Nepal) I can shut my eyes and listen... and feel this is a combined Bach-Richard heavenly music and joy.. ..."till we cast our crowns before Thee, lost in wonder love and praise"! Thankyou!
I have listened to J.S.Bach's Trio Sonatas for Organ more than any other music ( in all my nearly 80 years) between Hildegard and the Beatles, Every time there is something new to appreciate. They must be Bach's finest purely musical creations. And Richard McVeigh is the only person who matches the standard set by Helmut Walcha's recordings for Deutsche Grammafon back in the 1960s. A taste of Heaven.
Richard how do you know which pedal to press without looking down....There is no end to your talent.....Shows how hard it is to do....Yet you glide around the keyboard and pedals like a summer breeze....Gosh I shall now watch you play....👏
I have played them all, mastered none. Thanks for the inspiration to break open the book again. Wait, I'm almost dead . . . Maybe I'll go fishing instead.
Malcolm - it’s really odd you used that expression, as I used the exact same one just the other day to someone about them! Still much work to do with articulation, and some fingering I still haven’t quite mastered!
@@beautyinsound Well, great minds think alike! A lot of us musicians have never had 9-5 jobs and I can't imagine living that life and giving up . . sleeping in, hiking, skiing, vacationing, vacationing and vacationing. The second phrase I use a lot is "I'd rather be poor and free than be a rich slave." Some day I'm going to drop everything and hike the Appalachian Trail. Even music can be a golden idol.
I dream to play one of these Sonatas with such perfection and grace one day. I have been finding myself listening to especially the first one on here on repeat.
What an incredible goal you set for yourself. I really enjoyed listening to it. You do such a wonderful thing in sharing your talent with others. Thank you. How wonderful that you put the time markers for each section!
Just wanted to say I learn and enjoy watching your videos especially this video. I’m happy you accomplished learning all of these Bach trios in a short time. I do miss the candles on top of your new organ.😊 Thank you for keeping Bach alive!
Great Bach binge. An occasional wallow in magnificence is all to the good. Especially looking out at a snowstorm. Why put on boots when Bach awaits. From Chicago, U.S.A.
> This is the realisation of a life-long dream for me, and I genuinely thought I'd never be able to learn than all. Many many many congratulations Richard. A very worthy journey indeed, methinks. Learning these pieces has been a life-long dream for me too, hampered by living somewhere for decades where there are no pipe organs with sufficiently good balance, clarity and promptness of speech. I've only very recently discovered Hauptwerk (probably mostly due to your BiS project), and can see how it's very much helped solve this problem. Coupled with the fact that many organists now have a HW organ in their homes where they can practice easily and often, I see that it's enabling difficult music like the Bach Trio Sonatas to be learned and performed in a way that was not possible before, which is most definitely a good thing!! Congratulations again! 🙂
I certainly wouldn’t have been able to have learned these wonderful pieces if it weren’t for Hauptwerk. Having a house organ like this (by my old and new one) is revolutionary!
Beautiful registration. At 1:08:29 with headphones you can hear the sound switching between the left & right ears. Presumably this is because one of the loudest stops was used for the facade pipes. Since it's nice to look at symmetrical structures, pipes with similar lengths often appear at opposite sides of the organ. This means that a chromatic scale will often alternate between the left & right ear, and a piece like this will appear more random. For recording, it's often difficult to position the mics for the best acoustics.
Well done. I love your measured tempo, often these are played too fast. Here I had such fun listening to one part and then another, especially the last two, you can be justly proud!
Thanks Michael. It was a conscious effort on my part to ‘control’ the tempo as I too think they are often played needlessly quickly. I can’t wait to spend many more years getting to know them - the work has only just begun!
Beautiful. I was happy to see the Viscount Organ in the video. Also as a request can you use the great Salisbury Cathedral sample set just to hear an English Organ with a Console that is English also.
such a beautiful interpretation, I love it. Congrats for giving it such a beautiful musicality. I can't stop listening ! Oh, wow, no fingerings on the music sheets ?! I have a long way to go from my current first Bach prelude with so many numbering on the sheet (still not enough ! lol)
These are possibly some of the greatest pieces of music ever written...extraordinary in their construction and musicality.
And Bach did it almost routinely.
Couldn't agree more. And he simply named them "six sonatas for 2 keyboards and pedal"
What an achievement, not only did you learn all of these in 1 year, but you perfected them, gave them your interpretation, recorded them, then edited and produced said recording. Still coming back to this amazing performance all these months later. No one does it better.

I need to practise much more after watching and listening to these trio sonatas. They are the summit of Bach's achievements.
Great achievement, Richard! Thank you so much for sharing this journey with the community.

Stunning performances and an amazing achievement! I also really enjoyed seeing your registrations for each movement! 🤓
Once again, I started this in the evening! Sigh; absolutely Wonderful for an Saturday night rest and reflection..!🙏👏👏👏❤️ Thank You!😘💕

SUPERB! Truly! Such an accomplishment, Mr. Richard x! & such a pleasureable gift for me to be part of your listening/viewing audience... :) Thank you!
As I said before, a great accomplishment. Enjoyed the entire album. Bravo to you.👏👏👏

I really appreciate that - thank you. 🙏
Great to hear these very valuable set of trios. I only learned #5 and #6 but this has encouraged me to learn the others
The Bach Trio Sonatas are magnificent pieces. They sound so delightful and you played it really good.
Talent galore in mastering these pieces of music. Tons of talent and much hard work.
Thank you!

Noooooo! Back to Bach, not fishing! 🙂
(Well done for learning them at all!).
@@JSB2500 I PLAYED them all, not learned. Also, nobody lies on their deathbed wishing they worked more.

Loving the socks, hon....
Can you explain how the pages automatically turn?
Could you tell what do you use for sheet music and how are pages turned?
The newer console seems to be a 3 manual, do you miss having the 4th manual
No - I have 4 manuals. The 3-manual organ is my old organ.
do you have enough room for the stops in the new console?
This socks😎
Do you live in London, England, where do you live?
Can I buy a CD with your recording of all Trio Sonatas?
