- For his variations on ‘Sei gegrüsset, Jesu gütig’, performed by Leo van Doeselaar for All of Bach, Bach literally pulls out all the stops. For over twenty minutes, he explores the harmonic, rhythmic and stylistic possibilities of the melody forming the base of the piece. In all his chorale arrangements, Bach took inspiration for the style and atmosphere from the words of the hymn on which his composition was based. But the main role in his chorale partitas seems to be given to pure pleasure in playing and inventiveness.

Yes, you're right. There's no composer (before and after Bach) who made such a beautiful piece like this.

His registration for Partita X is perfection. Flute and reed stops at their brightest.

Unfortunately, he had to retire last year (2021) as the organist of the Pieterskerk in the city of Leiden in the Netherlands. One of the very few excellent organs in meantone.

Unbelievable that Bach wrote this masterpiece when he was just 20 years old. One would expect earlier works to be more clumsy, but not with Bach. As he grew older, his works became more complex but quality is there from the beginning. Magnificent organ also: the best of the best... Favorite: 9:34
Partita VII is magnificent I agree! Try to get your hands on the rendition of Helmut Walcha of the same. The way he treats the different voices is nothing short of jaw dropping

My JBL speaker’s sound quality just doesn’t live up to this instrument’s sound. The power it showcases in the last variation is absolutely overwhelming. Not mentioning fantastic diversity, stop-wise, throughout the whole piece.

Bach in Reinstform. Absolut Klasse und wunderschön. Die polyphone Struktur hat am Ende immer etwas gemeinsames, ausgleichendes. Die Stimmen reden miteinander, und am Ende steht die wunderschöne Melodie. Alles so spannungsgeladen, aber doch harmonisch. Genial.

Al vele jaren ('n eeuw) speelde de familie Koolen in de mu zieke wereld van Helmond een grote rol en tekenen wijzen er op dat ook weer de komende generatie Koolen dat zal blij ven doen, zowel in de vrouwelijke als mannelijke tak. Eén van de grote Koolens is zeker Christ. Hij wist naast zijn beroepstaak, leraar aan de Technisch School, zijn muziekstu die voort te zetten. Hij wist deze studie prachtig te nutte te maken, als zanger van het St.Jozefkoor en vaak als dirigent. Hij is een van de grote steunpilaren van Helmonds Orkest vereniging, waar hij niet alleen de eerste viool speelt, maar ook de dirigeerstok ter hand neemt, waar het nodig blijkt. En dan is hij nu reeds 20 jaar dirigent van het Kamerkoor, dat ons elke keer verrast met zijn steeds muzikaal-groeiende uitvoeringen.
Naast een mooi gezin, bezit hij daarin een vrouw, die hem ook bijstaat in het kamerkoor , waarin zij ook reeds 20 jaar meezingt.
Ik schrijf hier namens allen die dit lezen, een woord van grote waardering neer; van een groot respect en van grote blijdschap, dat hij al dit werk met zwierig elan over moeilijke tijden heen heeft weten door te zetten. Wij zijn hem zeer dankbaar en wensen hem een groot succes toe voor de toekomst en een aangename feestviering met zijn voortreffelijke zangeressen en zangers , die wij van harte feliciteren en tevens trouw toewensen aan hun edele ontspanning.

The partite diverse chorales for organ is one of my favorites from Bach's organ music, and I love the length of these works. Bach shows a great variety of 'genius' composition practices and also traditional practices, one can learn a lot from these pieces. Also wonderful choose of registration on partita X
