Your common on Tsons “suck” was the final confirmation i needed to start them as my main traitor force Thought they were interesting but not great to start with, but now with tank commanders you can essentially give your entire army a guaranteed save, sure its only a 6+ but id rather that than not get an attempt at saving my models I also have this thing where i have take the things everyone says “sucks” in every game system, makes winning (when it does happen) all the sweeter
Oh for sure - if you know you’re facing a bunch of AP, there’s a lot to be said for maxing out on tank commanders and HQs. Like the Night Lords - 9/10 games it’ll have no real effect… but that 1/10 games where you win thanks to it will be sweeeeet
Great video! Love the lore based army building, this is a wonderful resource 😊 In Horus Heresy I have Death Guard Creeping Death and Sons of Horus Orbital Assault, so I used that as the basis for my Astartes LI army. Massed Death Guard advancing through the dangerous terrain while the Sons conduct a speartip operation from orbit. Shout out to the Sons of Horus Fire Raptors that get super close for the legion rule 😅
I'm hoping the legions with weaker rules get good special units to make up for the lesser rule. Really wanting some cool stuff for my Thousand Sons, tbh
There is late in the heresy thanks to Khârn and Tal’s bromance - unfortunately the Word Bearers weaken a pure World Eaters force and the World Eaters aren’t good enough to redeem a main Word Bearers one!
@@LItbashing I respectfully disagree! The World Eaters trait does nothing for vehicles, so why not slap a different legion trait on your armoured company? Considering there aren't really any traitor rules that do buff your tanks, being able to issue first fire and march orders even when broken is nice flexibility.
@@totallycarbon2106 good shout! No shame in taking them if you want more tanks… though I would take Sons of Horus or Emperor’s Children for their rules… or just screw tanks and go all in on scary infantry :P
Seconding this. I'm going for a WE with allied WB detachments for my force. WB rules seem incredibly lame right now, especially compared to salamanders, but I'm playing the long game and hoping for some fun daemon rules.
I'm doing Tsons and IF. Fifth Fellowship, so loyalist with the benefits of a 6+ AS along with the benefits the IF get. May also add some loyalist DG,EC and Salamanders too.
Once I am using my Alpha legion, its a 3k games. Using my A.L Harrow group Arcadus and allied with Iron warriors Macro-Assault Proioxis(with its kratos upgrade) its quite fun. I am.playing against S.W allied with some Solar Auxilia(tank detachment)😊
@@andyjenkinson So you can keep an area of terrain and then swap the the other for two buildings? Allowing you to have two building and one area of terrain as dangerous?
I have Death Guard as my main Legion with a Dark Angel formation - because if anyone should be using Phosphex it's Fallen Angels allied with the Death Guard Still playing around with the "best" way to do this - Assault Marines in a Thunderhawk are a must, but then doing this well using an Aerial Assault formation is a PITA and doing it using Drop Pods in a Demi Company was not quite what I was trying to do 😢 Shame Jetbikes or Landspeeders can't be taken as Vanguard in an AA formation, for "reasons"
I'm one of those people that owns a psi-titan! My regular opponent plays Space Wolves, currently, though. Also, we don't bother with legion specific rules. Or sensible list building. It'll be a cold day in hell before my Iron Warriors force isn't at least 50% tanks.
I am going rainbow as it seems the game is designed that way. tbh form the get go I thought that legion abilities were a terrible rules decision. They were obviously vastly different in terms of utility and that means we are going to have legions chosen for what they can do rather than fluff purposes. Ah well. I was lucky I could go with world eaters (chosen because the colors are pretty and they are fun to paint). I am quite annoyed by having to paint up Alpha legion just to get what should be a formation rule. (even though they are way easier to paint than my WE).
This is what I suggested in the video for each legion re. best units to utilise rules: III- cheapest min size formation as rule doesn’t affect models IV- missile launchers and terminators, ally with world eaters close combat if possible VIII- no specific units affected by the rule, so lean into long range assassination fluff XII- assault marines and terminators XIV- all units impacted by rule so go armour for loyalist and terminators for traitors XV- lots of min size formations to max out HQ shields XVI- missile launchers in drop pods with palisades XVII- not really any perfect units, so use to ally fluff wise with traitor Solar XX- all excellent and rule affects everything you put down

cool video, lots of food for thought. I thought Death guard can turn 4 buildings dangerous though. not just 2.
Two areas of terrain, or a single piece can be swapped for 2 buildings instead. It specifically says “single” not “each”.

I’m inclined to agree (in as much as anyone in the 31st millennium did nothing wrong)
Bit misleading, I was hoping for units/detachments used to utilize the legion rules
That’s what I thought I did? Which rules you particularly interested in and I can point them out here if I wasn’t clear in the video x

XVII- not really any perfect units, so use to ally fluff wise with traitor Solar
XX- all excellent and rule affects everything you put down
