    As an ultramarine player, every list is a thematic list. We do it all baby!!!

    Good to see Space Wolves and the bottom of the list, where they belong.

    I'm building a varied force based around the Siege of Terra. My biggest and core are Imperial Fists, with plenty of infantry and tanks. I've created a demi-company of BA with three units of assault marines, a minimum force of tactical marines, 6 bases of termies, and a thunderhawk. I'm working on some White Scars next with tons of skimmers. I bought some drop pods but won't build them until I'm ready to create a Dark Angels infantry force with some dreads. When I get around to Shattered Legions I'm going to mix and match all the models on bases but have mono-legion command bases to represent which legion rule they are using for a game (I'm going to include SW in this too, since they weren't present on Terra in numbers)

    Considering how RG, AL, and SA pioneer companies are all over the game right now I think you're undervaluing Space Wolves. Also, from a fluff perspective I really like their rules because not only does it reference their preternatural senses, but it also feels like a reference to how they sent Watch Packs to each of the other legions to be on constant lookout for signs of enemy action (and of treachery from within the ranks).

    • @LItbashing
      @LItbashing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree, but for the fact just taking your own RG, AL and Pioneer Companies is probably more effective and efficient.

      @@LItbashing at least there's good lore reason to take RG with SW, because they linked up their forces for a while after the RG bailed out Leman when he tried to assassinate Horus. So, porque no los dos?

    This video was dangerously inspirational!
    I might have to paint more armies if this continues.
    Aside from doing ultramarines to fight my world eaters + word bearers, I think white scars + lunar wolves has just shot to the top of my inspo pile!

    • @LItbashing
      @LItbashing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is tempting! If I were to do a loyalist force it would be Scars/Luna!

  • @kglguy

    My loyalists are all Solar Auxilia (with Legio Ignatum support), though I may add a small formation of Imperial Fists at some point. I don't tend toward allies beside knight households and titan legions. For the time being, my loyalists will all be my homebrew SA cohort, and my traitors will be all Iron Warriors. At least until we get tiny Mechanicum and I can do my true favorite Heresy sub-faction: the rogue forgeworld of Arachnus.

    Mainly doing solar auxilia for my force (in a pseudo berlin brigade scheme), but will be doing shattered legions for my marines (salamander as the core with iron hands and raven guard as supplementary formations)

    I'm wondering how an Imperial Fists army with a minimum demi-company of Wolves to stop infiltration would do in competitive. Trying to walk a line of fluff and competitive...

    I don’t understand why people poo poo the blueberries’ trait. It’s annoying to keep track of but it’s one of the most powerful in the game. “Oh it’s just rerolling ones” yeah and that’s still pretty fucking good. Even on models hitting on 5+, that’s still an extra 5% or so hits over the baseline. I’ll take 5% extra damage over most of the other traits in game, especially for an Astartes list “core”.

    • @LItbashing
      @LItbashing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh it for sure adds up. I guess it’s just by default means in only works when you *don’t* wipe out a unit. If you have one detachment aim at an enemy detachment, and it doesn’t get wiped out, then you now have to use a second detachment at the same one for the benefit, meaning that one detachment is now worth two of yours. It represents the grinding suppressing fire flavour well - but it relies on you doing not quite enough damage in the first place to work.

    • @desc4405
      @desc4405 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LItbashing By the strict definition of the rule, a detachment can trigger the trait itself. Fast rolling is an optional rule. So just roll for each model one at a time until one scores a hit and then the rest of the shots from the detachment will benefit from interlocking fire.
      But even if it didn’t work like that and you needed to score a hit with another detachment first, it would still be incredible - it just necessitates a bit of foresight and planning. Run a bunch of min-sized Tacticals in Havoc Rhinos to “paint the target” for the rest of the Formation and then let loose with your high-damage detachments. Or use min-sized detachments of models equipped with Accurate weapons to paint the targets first, even.

    I have never been a competetive player and the lore is what keeps me going back to 30k. I gave up on 40k when 8. edition hit, it just wasnt fun anymore and the lore was just changed at will (not that this is a entirely bad thing per say).
    This is when i soley started playing the Heresy era games, i read Know No Fear back in the day, while i never liked the Ultramarines, this MADE me wanting to build those up for the Heresy. So i started them and since i one project is never enough, i added the Wordbearers to cover both sides. Both armies have grown ever since.
    When Titatnicus and Aeronautica came out, i was almost certain, we will see a return of the Epic system, i was right, but it took way longer, than i hoped. But both systems were playable out of the box with no need to expand, so everything else i got was more of a hobby project, still i ended up with way to many titans, knights and aircraft to ever field in one game.
    When we finally got Legions i was happy and i still am, even though i see the flaws in the rules. Of course i still looked at the rules and it made the decision i made easier. Since i wanted a new (painting) challenge Ultramarines and Word Bearers were off the table, being a Loyalist at heart most traitors will be problematic anyway, but i can see some "Loyalist potential".
    My list was (pretty much in that order) Imperial Fists, loyal Iron Warriors, Salamanders and White Scars. The special rules for Scars made them uninteresting, IF we had the respective forces for release, they might have ranked higher, but we didn't so they pretty much had "no rules" at that point. The three other Legions were VERY close and (subjectively) all have very usable rules. I pickes Imperial Fists in the end, i like their lore most of the remaining 3 legions and yellow was the most challenging colour to paint.
    Since i can't build just 1 army (i am a person that will try to get other peoples into the hobby, so having 2 or more armies usually helps), with the starter box being the way it is, the other one is a generic Solar Auxilia Army, but for those, i can't (at least for now) really see a way to make them stand out as Loyal or Traitor. Some of my remaining Titans will get a Traitor scheme, but i still havent decided, Legio Vulpa and Legio Mortis are my choices for now and both of them feel as a good "nemesis" for my Legio Gryphonicus,

    I don't play the game so can't comment there but I didn't know there were loyalist Luna Wolves, looks like it's time to disappear down today's lore black hole!

    Wellll I got thru painting 1 squad of emperors children in the mk6 models and then I was done. Downloaded the mk4 files from the purple page and off to the printer. I would like to see GW make more armor variety but I guess that's on the back burner. My local GW store isn't even supported with LI
