Thank you for sharing these stories. Growing up in the early 90's we would only hear these stories from our parents and other elders. Its great to hear from a source and from another perspective.

Growing up listening to all his heroic stories, Mr Lau had always been a role model to me. He inspired me to always do the right thing and help+give back to the asian community. Its exciting to hear all these stories from the legend himself. Def wanna hear more!!

i hear some different info about the extortions or protection payments. the gangsters in the other interviews were saying that they didnt demand a lot of money and ithe shop owners were willing to pay it because they got real protection. on the other hand, Mike is saying they were demanding unfair amounts. no matter what the gangsters say about themselves about the past, one thing is for sure, they were definitely running around picking on their own people. Whether it was checking their pockets or just bullying them for little to no reason at all. Never like the idea of taxing Asians who are struggling to get by. There are other ways to make money.

To share my own experience, I used to work in a restaurant in Chinatown. Whole bunch of the gangsters will just walked right in like they own the restaurant and demand a table right away meanwhile there are people waiting on line. The thing is they don’t PAY 😩。This is call 霸王餐☹️。It’s more like you pay extortion for them not to bother you versus they are protecting you.

Betty is right on with her depiction of how the gangs would extort from restaurants. They also received payments from “gambling houses “ in their territory all under the guise of protecting them from the very people who were extorting them. All under the permission of On Leong and Hip Sing.

@@neilmauriello8935they ruined dad's restaurant at 117mottstreet. Hwa Luk then Kong Nam. Dad refused to pay bcuz he said what if it means they can order shark fin soup all the time. So applehead and the chee brothers sat in the restaurant all the time and when customers came in and saw that darkness staring at them, they went Ooh and walked back out. The only regulars we had as a result were a large table of China Resources sino traders and martial artist Bolo Yeung dining alone in a tight t shirt even in winter. They would just stare at Dad.
Except for bighead, I feel this channel to a degree whitewashes.

@@neilmauriello8935dad told me a few days before they killed him and immediately smeared him that he felt bad for their parents. The chee brothers TOLD dad to leave town but dad Said he wasn't s criminal and a subpoena is no big deal. This channel twice has lied about why they killed dad. They already lost to the fbi when they forced dad to be national president. I believe the old man who lived on tge 5th floor of 50 Bayard st was irving chin. On leong was adamant that dad had to be national president. That old man said to dad in front of us nobody says no and u have already Said no twice. This channel isn't condemning the associations enough. The cruel conniving and entitlement of making Dad be national president HAD to be because somebody showed them the initial interview YEARS earlier when he sponsored Paul Qi the son in law of Mr. Zheng Bijian. Taiwan backed on leong sent dads head back to Beijing as a message. They haven't changed at all. My mom for decades would SCREAM and refused to say chan wing yeung's name but she always brought up famous house arrest prisoner zhang xueliang and say they are so petty and cruel. Taiwan and Chinatown cooked up the INSANE plot to smear dad so that Taiwan could pierce iron clad Chinese central govt by claiming Mr zhang bijian had gotten a favor from "godfather of chinatown" as reported by roz Abrams on ABC News that night.
They also befriended my brother so that my brother was cluelessly present when they had a free meal at a branch of wing Wong so that the brain damagex permanently naive son of their victim was smeared as being just like them to anyone respectable who knew us but avoided us because of the smear. Suddenly we were pariahs to people who never did what dad to other people but also smeared to actual criminals like the generosos next door at 119 Mott street. It was a very vicious plot and they got away with it.
There was no justified motive to what on leong and probably hip sing did to dad as implied twice on this channel.
The fbi walked into his office and just stood there silently until it dawned on dad that they were trying to make it look he was the informant. He screamed at them to get out and cursed at them.
Before she knew my background, my coworker who had worked at morgenthau's office said everybody knew thar the fbi got their witnesses killed to make their case.
she also told me how her office vowed to get the mafia killers of the Christmas tree salesman and I thought we get no comfort from the fbi who never updated us nor offered protection but were cold and forbidding with mom. She had nobody.

Inspector were you able to have an Assistant District Attorney, of the caliber, of a Nancy Ryan to bring the cases to Justice. Also what were your relationships with the numerous Chinese family and fraternal organizations that existed when you were a Commander of the Fifth Precinct? The on Leong and Hip Sing more specifically.

I met a paralegal from morgenthau's office and not knowing what happened to us, told me that the chinese gangs were animals who had no problem harming women and children. My brother was hit by a Nissan pathfinder who sped up to fling him head first into the concrete divider 4 years after they killed and murdered my dad.
On leong got away with it and even applied for funding from governor hochul as a community organization. They still control nyc govt and the judges and the press.

Are you saying chinese culture isn't about stepping back and being cautious. These guys except one guy in cantonese won't even SAY the race that is known for coming after us and that gives toxic narcissists exactly what they want. No exposure, no retaliation. The nail sticking out gets hit. So if the tough guys on this channel don't want to publish every anti chinese murder and gangrape, send me the death certificates and autopsy reports and let the black haters come after ME since aapi hate is the perfect cover for chinatown and taiwan to use. Oh it was just random. Fbi won't give me justice in writing. No one makes amends. So i will do it. I will publish bcuz the race war can be stopped if you call out the perpetrators. @@steve-iq4shtaiwan. Tiger cubs are allied with Hollywood. Harvey weinstein who made so many anti nazi movies removed the japanese collaborator section from GRANDMASTER. to be honest, that scene where the old family friend tells zhang ziyi to let it go with the japanese flag I the background FELT like chinatown Killing dad. It makes no sense that taiwan wants fentanyl upon usa. Thats so ungrateful but usa govt knows about the national geographic episode where the sinaloa chemist TOLD marianna van zeller that TAIWAN came to Sina loa to make it. She asked why and he shrugged and giggled that maybe they just lije to TEACH. taiwan has loads of sponsored content in the TV press and state govt who all blame China not India for selling soapmaking precursors.
