That nod at 4:27 was the greatest sign of approval anyone has ever received from the Cousins.
Lol you right.. they are men of limited words so that was great coming from them 👍👌
And of course, it was the slightest, subtlest nod that a human eye can see. I mean, they weren't going to GUSH about this or anything...
Nacho scored a lot of points with them for that. They saw him try to help even though he was wounded.
Nacho definitely got some respect and trust from them for getting out of the car and joining the fight despite being wounded, but he had to. Nacho by order of Gus told them that that gang wounded him and killed his partner. if Nacho stayed in the car without appearing to try to get revenge, the cousins might start to get suspicious of him
3hutp 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really liked the direction they went for with nacho, when he was first introduced I thought he was just gonna be a tuco light but he is actually like an actual normal human being and not a complete psychopath like everyone around him, which makes his arc really engaging to watch, he is up there with mike, fring and saul as my favourite characters
Anyone who played Far Cry 3 probably expected that so no wonder they didn't want to repeat his most well-known role.
@@TheSuspectOnFoot that's true, I used to think of him as that "far cry" guy, now I think of him as "nacho from better call saul" ahah
In breaking bad when Mike tells Jesse "I had a guy, you are not the guy"

Salamanca twins don't need backup , they are the backup.
I wasn’t sure if he was there as back up or to kill them only because the area he aims is at one of the twins right before the other one shows up. Yeah he kills the first guy but it’s not like he could walk in and say hey I’m gonna hell you kill the twins.

I love the restraint the writers show here. Lesser writers would have had Nacho prove himself by singlehandedly saving the cousins lives despite being wounded. But it was more realist and still got the point across to just have him show up to help, even if it wasn't necessary.
Well he did help because he killed that guy. But yeah it probably went to show the cousins hes loyal espec after they saved him

@Riley D oh, maybe you're right, maybe he missed that I was just saying that Nacho only being able to help a little was more realistic than Nacho dramatically saving the day.
@Riley D
to be fair the whole thing lasted less than 5 minutes.
and it seems to be in an area where people are used to gunfire, so i doubt anyone would have called the cops.
but i'm also assuming(i dont remember if they even showed it in the show or not) that eventually the cops come and do their thing.
also it seems like the salamancas had some sort of military training and military-grade weapons, against common street thugs armed with civilian-grade toys. and they had the element of surprise.

This scene highlights how the twins were a dangerous two-men army, and it also shows how badass Hank really was when he killed them both
EDIT: "Hank was just lucky 🤓"
He got lucky , also , Marco was just so damm cocky and thats why they got killed! They outsmart him and had him at gunpoint but no! He wanted his stupid 🪓
@@fearlesslegend2073 hank ran one twin over, then pumped 6 bullets into the other. if not for the kevlar, both wouldve been goners
Personally I felt that this scene took away from that shootout in Breaking Bad by giving depth to their backstories and establishing them as these Mexican terminators who were easily outgunned by a lucky DEA agent by being dramatic/sadistic. In Breaking Bad they felt like people you'd see in a Liveleak video, but in BCS they feel like anime characters.
@@psychwardpussyeater for me, it's the fact that Hank got warned beforehand and was in super anxiety/awareness mode. That mixed with luck and of course the kill being very personal to the cousins, them wanting to savor and take their time was what barely gave Hank the win. Plus Hank was dangerously close to dying himself.
Don't forget Hank put Tucos lights out too lol
No matter how badass they are or how smart fring is, they were all taken down by a chemistry teacher. Walter White destroyed everyone.
@Nijat Aghamali yes, but they crossed the border to kill Heisenberg... They prayed to Sante Muerte before every hit and succeeded, until they went after Walter White

Nacho has become my favourite character in the series
Me too, new Walter
After Mike
Since he was never in Breaking Bad, it's really going to be interesting to see how he meets his demise.
My favorite is Mike, but I've definitely got a stiffy for Nacho too lol :)
@@ramman97 I agree the big irony of Better Call Saul is that even though its a lighter show it'll be a more tragic ending for Nacho as opposed to the victorious one for Walter.
It makes me angry that the television academy almost only gives awards to actors who always scream or cry and get all over the top. It means fantastic actors like Michael Mando don't often get recognized even though doing quiet calculated scenes like these are just as hard!
IKR. Sometimes i try to pose as an serious quiet dude when i'm alone at home, and i can tell is really easy to break character even though you're just sitting on the couch without doing anything.
Michael Mando is amazing, especially in BCS. Whether he gets more recognition or not, he's a fantastic actor.
It’s such a shame this season was shut out of the Golden Globes this past year. Bob Odenkirk didn’t get nominated for Best Actor and I believe not only should he have been nominated, but it should’ve received other nominations for acting as well. @@jorts_master69 good insight👌
I think they respect that nacho tries to help even thought he was wounded it shows a level of loyalty from nacho to them

the salamancas commend loyalty and bravery like that, which is why tuco allowed walter to take the money after the mercury explosion, anyone else would have tried to kill him

@@TheLonerrGermans what? Lederhose? Bierbauch?
The nod of thanks is almost imperceptible! Perfect.
I think it was more a nod asking "are you ok?" which explains why Nacho nods his head the way he does.
I almost felt bad for the Cousins in Nacho's last scene in BCS. They're so confused and hurt by what he says about the Salamancas, and you can understand why. They've fought beside him, he's (apparently) taken a bullet for them and they've helped him in turn. And with how they were raised, they're incapable of seeing anything wrong with what their family does, so Nacho's betrayal must seem completely incomprehensible to them. The only thing they can still rely on is Hector's motto of "la familia es tudo", since even the most "proven" friends can suddenly become the most bitter enemies.
And this all works in Gus' favor. After Nacho, they won't trust anyone who isn't of their blood, so even as the family dwindles in numbers it will also lose wider influence out of sheer paranoia, until the once-proud name of Salamanca becomes nothing more than chicken feed.
that's such an interesting analysis omg i love how you tied the way they were raised and their naturally human(no matter how inhumane they act) thoughts
I'm just glad nacho made it out alive

Nacho was the only person outside the Salamanca’s that the twins seemed to respect and even admire at some level. They seemed to almost purposely miss Nacho when they were firing at him later and showed restraints in his final moments. As far as they were concerned he had earned their respect. No small feat with the twins. I think they respected him for standing with them in the shoot out and also that his motives for the things he was doing was to protect his dad. As intensely loyal they were to their families, I think in their minds they could relate with his actions and came to the conclusion they would have done the same thing if it bowled down to protecting one of their own.
4:27 when you got that gangster respect
Are these the two kids from when Hector taught them the lesson “Family is all”?
yeah
Thanks, I thought it but wasn’t for sure.
Yes these are Hectors nephews. They are related to Tuco Salamanca; also Krazy-8.
Narxes yes he is. If you watch the first season again(I’m pretty sure it that season), they talk about him being related to them. Also in BCS, when he’s paying nacho I think they discuss it at one point also. 🤙🏻
Narxes I haven’t watched the series in quite a long time. I may be wrong, but I’m almost positive that in one episode they kinda go over the Salamanca family, and I believe I remember Krazy-8 was mentioned.
Gotta admit this was badass, when Nacho was talking about coming back later with some more men and the the way the brothers looked at each other like " that's not how we get things done" and just walk out of the car to take care of business as casually as though they're going into a grocery store.
nacho is actually "the audience"....His character represents what the audience is feeling....he is the audience's point of view and their emotions. Also, you can tell nacho never wants any part of any of the game...but he just keeps getting deeper and deeper in it when all he wants is nothing to do with it.
Goosebumps at 4:05 onward. Sometimes the best acting involves everything but dialogue. The body language and facial expressions are all you need to see for the scene to fully explain itself.
04:00 what a great scene - like a Terminator coming up from behind you to protect you
Does anyone think this is Nacho's first kill? The way he reacted after shooting the dude with the shotgun seemed like it stunned him, for a second. Maybe I'm just over-analyzing but I find it interesting how Nacho's putting himself through hell just to keep his father alive and he just condemned himself to it in the afterlife in this very scene.
True, and the spout of fire right after the kill may be just the slightest hint towards that
The soundtrack... god damm it... I can't express how brillant is Dave Porter. When he makes a dark track, he really does a dark track.
I like that he gave Nacho a little nod of thanks, he saw the guy came to help when reinforcements arrived even though he was wounded badly enough to have to use off hand and barely walk.
With Mike and Saul you already know no matter what they can't die. Not the case with Nacho, so I'm really glad BTC brought in this character, giving the show the suspension of worrying about someone. I was really glad when one of the cousins nodded approvingly to him, meaning they now trusted him.

This scene is so heart racing and anxiety filled no words said by nacho or the twins basically the whole time and you know what they’re thinking amazing acting
This act earned Nacho the respect of the Salamanca's. He chose the wrong side by being an informant for Gus. They would have protected him and his father more than even Mike could ever do.
