The Canadian National anthem was actually changed some years ago, the line "all our sons command" was changed to "all of us command." It took me a bit to get used to, but i think it's a pretty nice change.

Sorry, but you are mistaken. All Canadians know that our national anthem is “Canada’s Really Big” written by our most cherished composers, The Arrogant Worms. 🇨🇦
Hey, Roomie! In case you're wondering, most of the national anthems in the world were initially written and composed as war songs in order to awaken and inspire the people to fight for their freedom. One noteworthy example is the Philippine National Anthem which was written first as a musical piece for piano, after which the lyrics were made later on. Even some of the other national anthems also started out as war musical pieces. Thanks for featuring the Philippine National Anthem. More power to you!🇵🇭😄♥️
Roomie to the Philippines: Looks like their country will never be invaded Me living in the Spratly islands that is being claimed by China: Are you sure about that?
About the German anthem: The "pre-war" national anthem of Germany actually had 3 verses, but now only one of them is sung/ is official as the other ones portray now outdated and german-centric themes. ('cause you were searching for something edgy) Fun Fact: The anthem was originally written for the birthday of Austria's emperor (with different lyrics obviously).
well, "pre-war" it was still the Kaiserlied which is the English national anthem but in german. then it was "Das Lied der Deutschen" and now its only the third verse of "Das Lied der Deutschen"
@@nihilusobscurio8380 Not illegal, but somewhat edgy. Technically, of course, it is about how all German-speaking duchies should band together to form a country, but it tends to be used by nationalists with a more militaristic turn. And the fact that some of those German-speaking duchies are now in Poland, Denmark, Belgium, Austria and Italy, which makes it a little uncomfortable today.
@@nihilusobscurio8380 yeah, due to line such as "Deutschland uber alles" because of its links to the NZP though I'm sure a native German maybe knows more or can correct me if I'm in the wrong.
@@brokkoli3245 Technically speaking, "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" was only the anthem of the Kaiser, not of the state. They didn't have an official anthem. Also during Nazi rule, it was only the first verse of the "Lied der Deutschen", then the "Horst-Wessel Lied".
Hello, I am from Panamá and I am extremely happy you were able to listen to our anthem. This was written (from what I know), to symbolize mostly us regaining land from the U.S., after they had finished building our canal. So since "concord" means agreement, basically we're singing about how the U.S and Panamá were able to agree upon giving us our land back. This anthem may also have the meaning of our independence from Colombia, and our separation from Spain. I am sorry if anything of this is confusing, this paragraph had gone through many stages before actually sending, and I may have gotten confused on some stuff myself.
You hit the nail on the head there with the Philippine National Anthem. It was written in 1898 during the Phil/Spanish Revolution and is a Patriotic song. And by the way, if you listen to it well, you'll hear a similarity with the French National Anthem. The Philippines is very strict when you sing it in public, they won't allow you if you don't deliver it with its original tempo.
"seems like they will never be invaded" Well, the anthem is like a vow to never let others get ahold of our freedom again because many Filipinos died to achieve that freedom for more than 3 centuries that we've been under another country's jurisdiction... Well, it's not like I'm really listening to our lessons about history (sibika at kultura/hekasi/araling panlipunan) naalala niyo pa ba yung subjects na to?
Our freedom was bought by the Americans for 20mil. As much as I am patriotic to my hometown and Philippine heroes including the unsung, I think you should rephrase that comment.
@@sophiawico8440 oh, I was just referring to the lyrics of the national anthem, like "duyan ka ng magiting" and "ang mamatay ng dahil sayo". It symbolizes the heroes that died for it... As I said at the beginning of my comment, 'the anthem is', 🙂
Fun fact... The Canadian anthem was actually changed to “all of us” instead of “all thy sons” around last year! Edit: it was actually three years ago haha
Same feeling here too! Also me: he's just talking about the melody and musical arrangement 😅 (not that he's a history expert as he disclosed, so I guess no harm done)
So... This just got recommended to me.. just to give some context, the Romanian anthem became the anthem because the people and soldiers on the streets were singing it during the revolution to bring down comunism. This was initially a song written about 150 years ago but, It was very fitting as it drives the people to awaken from their sleep of death and prompts them to forge their own faith and liberate themselves. The people forgot most of the lyrics but the first couple of verses kept on being sung throughout the revolution.

More power to you!🇵🇭😄♥️
The Canadian anthem was changed to say "all of us command" so it's not sexist anymore lol

About the German anthem: The "pre-war" national anthem of Germany actually had 3 verses, but now only one of them is sung/ is official as the other ones portray now outdated and german-centric themes. ('cause you were searching for something edgy)
Fun Fact: The anthem was originally written for the birthday of Austria's emperor (with different lyrics obviously).
well, "pre-war" it was still the Kaiserlied which is the English national anthem but in german. then it was "Das Lied der Deutschen" and now its only the third verse of "Das Lied der Deutschen"
Is it true that the first verse in the German Anthem, btw my national anthem, has been called illegal?

"seems like they will never be invaded"
Well, the anthem is like a vow to never let others get ahold of our freedom again because many Filipinos died to achieve that freedom for more than 3 centuries that we've been under another country's jurisdiction...
