My favorite tip for this kind of slow simmered sauce is to take out all but the bottom rack in you oven and put the whole pot in there. The gentle oven heat will simmer the sauce without any danger of scorching it so you only have to check on it once or twice to add liquid if it needs it.

Very similar to mine! I add a whole mess of onions, peppers (sweet and hot), and squash to mine too 😍 For those who didn't know, spaghetti is an EXCELLENT way to help use up the ridiculous amount of squash you grow in the summer- even the monsters 😆

Mrs. Vickie, I just wanted to pop in and let you know that I've made this huge batch of spaghetti sauce twice since I watched a couple of months ago and cannot seem to get any of it canned. It's not a logistics problem, it's just that THEY EAT IT ALL! 😉😊 My family has fallen in love with this sauce so both times it has found itself in the refrigerators of my grown kids and in dishes that I have cooked for them and us here at home. I also made a huge batch of lasagna...3 big pans! Oh, and I had to tell you.... on the second batch I used ground beef that I bought from a neighboring farm. It was grass-fed and very low fat so I didn't get much fat from cooking the beef. I had beef fat in the freezer that I had trimmed from various steaks and roasts (I don't throw away much of anything!) I rendered the fat from some of that, then tossed the cooked pieces in when the sauce was put together. I wasn't sure if it would help but it sure didn't hurt... there's lots of good flavor in that fat! So, thank you again so much for sharing your family recipe... I know one family that is really enjoying this wonderful, authentic Italian sauce! 💗 Michelle

That is wonderful! I am so glad that your family loves this sauce! I am actually the first one in the family to can the sauce, because there are just two of us to eat it all. It does freeze beautifully too, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem for you 🤗 Thank you so much for letting me know!

I don’t know about you two ladies but every time I go to make a small batch of something like chili, stew, soups etc I just can’t make a small batch it winds up being a big batch right up to the top of my large pot ! It’s only two of us and as we are empty nesters! But our Kids and Grandkids live close to us !Yay! (Our Grandkids are two of the sweetest and precious gifts from God other than our two children!) So I share it with them or sometimes can it up too! It will thaw so quickly and every drop of the water will evaporate ! Now I never care if I have to start a meal with a frozen package of ground beef ! That Spaghetti sauce looks so good! Sauce freezes well! I have two small children, and I usually cook a 3x batch and freeze 2. I actually made a 3x batch of taco meat the other night, and froze two. It's so wonderful to be able to pluck a homemade meal out of the freezer and just heat it up. Could even freeze in single serve portions with a muffin tin!
