Nailed it! 72 yr old Saskatchewan geezer here. Over 7,000 km so far this year entirely on my own, 200 to 500 km at at a time. Common to have friendly chats at lunch breaks, or .... often stop somewhere at a nice peaceful spot in the countryside for a drink of water and whatever snack I can find in the saddle bags and chat with the birds. It's all great!
Good honest video mate, I agree with most of your sentiments, apart from owning up to being an unlikeable dickhead ! That made me laugh. I live in London UK, I have a car for stuff you really need a car for, but there is NO faster way of getting around town than on a motorbike. That is the main reason I ride. I am OLD , retired, grown up kids, I live alone , do what the hell I like , whenever I like, no scheduling meets with others. I only have to go ten miles north of where I live and I’m in beautiful twisty countryside. Like you said, riding alone is much more conducive to meeting other bikers and strangers generally, when you stop for refreshment or whatever, you are more approachable alone. A gang of bikers can appear intimidating to civilians. Stay safe!
Absolutely enjoyed the scenery here, all that greeeeeeen. This is an excellent topic! I am with you on most of your points, especially #4. I like to chill, check out the scene, enjoy the moments. Since moving to Cali, I always feel like a wussy when I ride with others; riding fast or having drinks are always on their agenda. It's just not for me. There was a good group I rode with in Chicago. It was great. I miss them sometimes. But, the best trips I've ever had were alone. Great video!
We've got some green here until at least October! I think it's just easier to ride alone. It's not like having someone there would improve the experience, since you're on your own inside your helmet anyways. And if you do have a headset and someone else wants to chat - it's even worse! Just more distractions and less effort on enjoying the ride and focusing on the scenery. I do group rides locally, but I'd NEVER do a trip with anyone else. I just have way too much fun on my own! :P
Sorry to burst your bubble Alex...you're not a dick...haha. Enjoyed our chat on the bicycle/hiking trail in Algonquin Park last month. I agreed with all but that one point (above) about why you may prefer to ride solo. It's in lock-step with why I enjoy hiking solo...early in the day, don't want to compromise the time, speed, location of my hikes and I too, stop many times along the way when there are interesting things to see/hear/video. Although my motorcycle-riding days have been replaced by hiking/canoeing, I too, used to prefer riding solo. And you're right, folks feel less intimidated striking up conversation with a solo biker than a group of them so there were always plenty of visits to be had while taking a break. Anyway, Tuesday Oct 26/21 I'll be uploading my Algonquin video...check it out since I gave you a shout-out. Happy Trails!
My excuse is I have a ton of kids. No time to go out with people. There's another guy in my neighborhood who rides. Sometimes we'll sneak away for a half hour to down a few beers or whatever, but people without kids don't want to be our friends.
I've never had more fun on a ride with a group compared to when I'm riding alone. The most fun I have is when I'm riding solo doing whatever the heck I want!

Your reasons are my exact reasons as well....ride alone forever!! Yeah!
I ride in small groups with people I trust and on my own. I also ride very early and many others like to sleep in. Take care
Solid video.
Thanks a lot, Mike!

Like the clockwise evening loop!
I like it better clockwise. More uphills and more fun on the throttle.

I don't have kids and I have plenty of free time for riding. I'd still rather just ride alone and do whatever I want when I'm on the bike!
@@thehondabaron4539 I don't know if I'd ride in groups if I didn't have kids... probably not...
I am good either way. But to always have someone with me no freaking way hahaha but it is fun some times.

@@thehondabaron4539depends on who you are riding with also.
Riding supposed to be about enjoying the freedom. Group rides take too much of the freedom away. No thanks.
