I knew from the title of the video that it must be about Bhola cyclone. The way India has improved its handling of disaster prediction and management specifically in the area of cyclones (hurricane/typhoon) ever since the disastrous cyclones in the 1970s is quite remarkable. Back then hundreds used to die in the most severe cyclones. These days, thanks to early warnings, proper prediction of the storm's path, effective mass communication and timely evacuation, it is not uncommon to have zero fatalities due to the cyclones. Even fishermen, the most vulnerable section of the population (when it comes to cyclones) get special attention from the government. I remember Navy Destroyers sortied out during Cyclone Amphan and managed to rescue civilians from drowning ships even in very high sea states. Goes to show why India's most powerful supercomputers are always given to the Indian Meteorological Department and how much of a role the satellites of ISRO and the National Disaster Management Authority and State Disaster Management Authorities play.
BTW, this dude's accusation that India might not have shared info to Pakistan regarding the storm is dubious and based entirely on a single article written in The Lowell Sun newspaper in USA. And in that article, the author made only a conjecture and suggested that _maybe_ India, Radio Calcutta specifically, had not broadcast the news to East Pakistan due to India-Pakistan friction. In fact the entire article itself was about failure of Pakistan authorities, with India's name mentioned only in passing at the end. Let me quote relevant section of the article:- _"The menace and the potential target area became increasingly clear on the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th as the NOAA satellite passed over the Bay on its daily North-South orbit. The information was relayed immediately to both Pakistani and Indian authorities. At the same time, ships far out in the bay were transmitting information on the storm's progress to India. There is some question as to how much of their information was passed on to Pakistan by Radio Calcutta. Because of Indo-Pakistani friction there APPEARS TO BE little give-and-take between their weather services"_ Needless to say, it is outside of the ambit of Radio Calcutta's responsibilities, so I don't understand why blame is being laid at their feet for what was clearly Pakistani government failure.
