There are nearly 30 states and majority of them have local parties, rooted in the states culture, language and policies. Majority of population vote for the local parties which is too rare is USA. Eg: In this year's elections in AP, a core local party called TDP have won with a landslide majority. In Tamil Nadu, TMC won, similarly with so many other states. Even though congress or BJP won in many states it is more due to local leaders contesting for these parties and the policies made for these states are always state specific. If you analyse each state specifcaly, India is more democratic today than any nation every existed in the history. Due to landscape, numbers and passion for people.
