This has been true for decades. The shelters keep saying, homeless don't want curfews, they don't want rules. And since society lacks the spine to enforce the law, they are allowed to just make their homes on the sidewalk, ruining the city for everyone else.

@@The_Insanity_Plex Seeing homeless people as a monolith is part of the problem. There are a variety of reasons why people are homeless (mental health, drug abuse, simple bad luck, etc) and thus a variety of different solutions is required. There are, however, some people who can't be helped no matter how much you give them or how much money you spend on them. You could give them 10 homes and as much food as they want and they'll still end up on the streets.

I don't mind helping anybody. I feel insulted though that they put illegals in motels, feeding them & giving them medical care. With illegals, they have a lot of drug addicts & drunks too. There needs to be more drug rehabs & a safe place for our homeless to stay & some are vets. They need help to get jobs. They need to setup programs that they have to abide by. Homeless people are not all drug addicts. Because of covid, many people lost their homes & apts when they were made to stay home & not work. There's whole families that are homeless. People never talk about them. They gave all the turkeys to illegals on Thanksgiving. Homeless people stood in line but they put the illegals ahead of them & the homeless didn't get anything. We need to take care of our own first. Demos are now helping illegals get government ID's so they can find a way for them to vote. That's the only reason they are letting them into our country.

Imagine having almost ten thousand homeless in a city. We have failed miserably. When you allow this, you will get this. The city must get to the heart of this epidemic and address it one way or another. Build a facility (community) where work requirements are enforced where they can live and get some medical, psychological, educational, religious teachings if they desire, and employment help to be able to live on their own. Those who need constant supervision need to be placed in a controlled safe environment where they can be taken care of. This is inhumane and certainly manageable rather easily. Even some authoritarian measures are better than what they are living every day out there. They are being criminally attacked by each other even. Its a terrible way to live in the USA in 2024. This has to stop, it's bad enough how long we have to wait to be seen by some doctors. These phoenix patients were non-paying patients the VA agreed to take to lessen the financial burden on the phoenix hospitals.

Ask yourself what good or positive things have they already accomplished and do research on both candidates. Even state governors etc. Do research on both so you know who to vote for. People addicted should have their own community. Every adult knows the consequences of doing drugs. It is each of our responsibility to see that we are productive citizens of society. There are vast differences between affordable housing, drug addiction and mental illness issues that get intertwined together under the term “Homelessness”. Each of these issues need different approaches in order to reduce their severity for the individual and society.
Even though they are interconnected they need to be discussed and addressed separately.
Complicating matters further is the fact that you cannot help those who can’t, don’t or won’t help themselves. You can intervene where people are a physical threat to themselves or others, but otherwise there is little that can be done for them on a personal level.
What you can do is protect and support the rights of those who aren’t an issue when conflicts between rights occur. People with these sorts of issues have rights but they do not extend to the point that they infringe upon the rights others.
Businesses should have the right to sue the city for business losses inflicted upon them by homelessness encampments that violate the law. City officials chose not to enforce sanitation, open drug use, housing and public safety laws when these encampments form. This snowballs into a horrible mess.
The best approach may be to break the problem up into smaller parts and address them. People who are simply homeless while looking for a job have different needs than a mentally ill person who is addicted to drugs. To say they all need housing is true but not helpful. People with different types of issues need unique approaches to reduce the damage to themselves and society. Lumping them together and allowing them to freely harm society isn’t a way to reduce the harm caused.
