Really would love to see Blender devs overhaul the texturing tools. Implementing a layered work flow with smart masks, generated maps, etc. like Substance Painter. Seems like Grease Pencil and Geometry Nodes get all the love nowadays.
@@nesferatu No layers please, layers are so clunky and limited compared to nodes. Though I do agree that the painting capabilities of Blenders texturing workflow really do need an upgrade!

I was an early adopter of 2.8 when Blender really launched into it's modern form. It's been cool to see how much it's progressed in the time I've been using it not to mention everything that came before.
I bought and went through SpeedChar's ZBrush course...took copious notes and fought with the UI and the Zmodeller tools etc...only to find out he ended up switching to Blender for sculpting. 😭
@nesferatu LORD. Yeah, I had to take SO MANY NOTES on Zbrush's horrid UI because it is the kinda program that if you stop using it for two days, you forget everything.
@@nesferatu One of the first things i usually teach to anyone trying to learn Z brush is to customize the Ui interface since the vanilla one is cancer. But other than that if u are going to sculpt to high level stick with Z brush. I use both Blender and Z brush and i can tell u for sculpting alone Z brush is better. Hard surface Modelling is hard until u get used to Z modeler.

One minor grievance I had that could only "partially" be overcome through custom key mapping is some of the navigation controls. I do recognize, however, that ZBrush will always be king when it comes to managing high-poly meshes with insane levels of detail...

I think the overhaul of the fundamental data stucture handling code is well handled. All the most dynamic developers work to give us these gifts. In the best of all scenarios, i gave up on learning all. Just catching the ones i can use a ittle bit not all at once. Some never. Some i wish i knew sooner. like in real life i 'm just discovering common sense need versus want.
Never going to happen (technical animator at a big studio here), overhauling a pipeline is very expensive, no studio is going to do that. It can also break projects and the code. The problem is that Blender updates their application too fast, studios and devs can't keep updating their projects and pipeline to match it, they end breaking and destroying stuff. Assets become incompatible, etc. Also, Blender does not have a dedicated support team like Autodesk and Side FX, you can call a support guy at 3AM at night, and he'll log into your system to check out the error message and fix it. What you are essentially paying for when it comes to these big industry software is the support team.
I guess blender has it's own standard, as some one said above, some paid similar software has it's own customer services. But that doesn't meant you can't have industry standart projects, if your projects is big enough, you can team up with blender developers team, especially if you have big fund too, to support and advance blender with money and testing in the field projects.

honestly I love how much progress is Blender taking, but geez, I'm sick of many updates for each year. I dont have the time to take all the new stuff and get used to it. i want to ask something, after my blender got upgrade from 4.2 to 4.3 through steam, my shortcut for move item to 0 not working anymore. as usual i tried the hotkey G + X/Y/Z + 0, it doesnt move the object to the center of the grid. i tried reset preferences and no luck. then i tried on older version such as 4.0 and 3.6 i installed before, they suddenly behave the same. i tried uninstall them all and clean the registry and other leftover data, reinstall blender 4.2 (not 4.3) and i tried again, its still the same the gx0 wont work, but when i use other number like 1 2 3 it works and move. note that i did move the object slight from the center so its not on 0 and i tried it on a fresh opened new file. also i noticed that whenever i use the hotkey g+xyz+0, instead of moving the object back to center, it types number zero on top left like this "D: [0|] = 0 m (0m) along global Y", when i keep pressing the 0, it only adds the 0 to 0000 and not moving the object back to center. please if anyone happen to know any answer would help. because it affecting the older version too and couldnt be undone for now
Not sure how much people are aware of this. Using a Light Path node with the socket Is Transmission Ray connect to a background node which connects a World output node produces a render output better than cycles for some renders. Mess around with it and do a video based on it. Just three nodes is all it takes to make Eevee better than Cycles. You also have to adjust the View Transform and contrast in Colour Management as well as having the Raytracing box checked in Render Properties. Be the judge for yourselves.
0:49 ugh for some reason my blender 4.3 always crashes when i use this one and i have Volkan installed and i have GTX 1650 so i don't get why it crashes
This sounds wrong to me. I have never heard blender complaining about unsupported computers. You sure the rest of your computer is set up properly? This is just a friendly question. Not me accusing you of doing things wrong. Just want to help.
@@matslarsson5988 not sure if they're complaining but it is a hassle and probably hard to pull off supporting hardwares that is like a decade old. Computers evolve and so do the drivers and softwares, leaving old technology obsolete as ppl upgrade to a better computer. Few years ago, I remember Blender dropped support for a 64bit windows 7 so I was stuck with v2.92 for a very long time. I couldn't even upgrade to the latest 2.93 LTS and had to stick with the bugs and find ways to optimize projects or do workaround my technological limitations. I was lucky enough that I got a hand-me down broken laptop that gave me the opportunity to relearn blender again. Lot has change when I returned to 4.0

I'm sure youre not the only one. But I love it. Just stick to the LTS versions until you're ready to update, you can download older versions of blender (all the way back to 1.0) from their website, so there's certainly no pressure for anyone to update if they don't want to.

I'll never understand this need to make eevee closer to cycles, the whole appeal of eevee to me was *precisely* the fact it was different. Seems like I'll have to keep sticking to 4.1 for the foreseeable future.
Eevee being closer to cycles defeats the whole purpose. It was supposed to make rendering quicker and real time now i get crashes just by being in preview.

I mean if the purpose was not to get more close to "real render" then we Eeevee would not exist at all and we just hade wireframe viewport render :) I think the issue is that the new version is till a bit buggy. In the end it will perform as good or better as the old one while also allowing setting to choose how much features you want to use. When Eevee was released it was slower than viewport renders in say Maya, but allowed for much better preview. Still that was a major selling point.

For what exactly? Do you plan do do almost if not all tasks in Houdini? From modeling to rendering? Houdini excels at VFX and simulations, but its not the best for non-procedural modeling, animation, rigging and other stuff.

I started using Blender in 2002. You needed a PHD to understand the UI. You should look up some tutorials from back then.

As a 2D animator, I finding Blender more and more appealing to incorporate in my workflow. Just gotta expand my brain to be able to learn it.

There is a software for that but it’s also because each version is standalone it’s like getting a different app
Snaps is a package manager for Linux, which you can use to easily update your packages. I dont believe this works with stock windows. (Maybe on WSL)

For what exactly? Do you plan do do almost if not all tasks in Houdini? From modeling to rendering? Houdini excels at VFX and simulations, but its not the best for non-procedural modeling, animation, rigging and other stuff.
