I'm thrilled Takara took the chance on this. I hope it sells well enough to get dozens of other characters. Prowl, Hot Rod, Devastator... all of them really!
A fully articulated year one G1 Devastator would be so baller. Hasbro and Takara Tomy have damn near mastered their engineering skills, no doubt they’ll be able to pull that off!
It will thing with transformer buy toy fans they buy almost every new takara and hasbro makes mostly g1 all time they buy years later they sell it off if there lucky
Now THIS is a retro upgrade done right. I'm actually surprised that HasTak didn't do this kind of stuffs before in one of their numerous reissues of G1 toys.
In the 80s, I lost Prime's hands on the school bus. One of the other kids found them and threw them out the window. I'm glad to see I won't have that problem with the integrated hands. ;) Excellent review. Looking forward to getting this in my collection. Such an amazing upgrade to a classic.
Even a quick dirty video from you is extremely professional and immense quality. Personally I loved it being out so quick rather than a delay - I think you have room for both in your repertoire
Excellent review, glad i found your channel. This toy is something else, makes me feel like mum is in the kitchen making dinner, and dad will be home in half an hour, then we'll have dinner together. I have a LOT of other toys that I love. No other toy, ever has made me feel loved.
I think the most important aspect in a review is how passionate the reviewer is to what he's reviewing makes the difference. We can find facts and specs easily online nowadays but the emotions and reactions from the product is what makes it unique from all other channels
I got the G2 Prime (G1 with black trailer and voice box) for my 9th birthday. Of all my birthdays as a child, it is the only one I remember the main present I got because of how much it meant to me to have an Optimus Prime. I still have that toy about 30 years later. And as much as I loved it, this version improves on that in EVERY way.
This is super awesome. I would love to see them take this approach with the entire G1 line up to and thru the movie version. Cleaning up quality issues and replacing stickers with paint and prints would be awesome.
Had this pre ordered since last year & finally received it yesterday.. I’m blown away by this figure! Such a game changer, now I need all of the G1 figures to get the missing link treatment ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I just got my hands on him myself, and he's sucha joy to handle as my first ever 1st-party Convoy. I only have one minor gripe is that I can't get the legs to peg back together in cabby mode for some reason. Otherwise, I absolutely love everything that came with this toy.
My man, I got this today, and I'm here with you on how giddy you are for this toy. I got past the transformation section of my review and just started playing with it and havent stopped. It's soooo good. Early figure of the year contender! Always great work here, Sixo! Back to work I go!
Aaay managed to get one of these the other day. I was never one to want to colllect the original G1 figures but felt fond of G1 Optimus so this figure is a real treat.
I just received my toy deco one with the trailer. Be very careful with the legs. The sliders don't lock into place at the hip in bot mode, so a fair bit of pressure is put on these sliders when manipulating the legs. And rotating joint at the thigh can be incredibly stiff, because of the chrome. You have to be very careful otherwise you will possibly snap the leg off. I would suggest untransforming him and holding the top of the thigh and the middle of the thigh as best you can, and turning the thigh rotation joint very carefully until the joint is loosened up. Also, while there's no launcher for Roller like the original toy, the switch is moulded into the back of the trailer for accuracy. But amazingly, the missile launchers on the drone are fully working (!!!!) With a range of at least 2m. This is something I haven't seen in a toy for about 30 years. :D
@@SixoTF I very gingerly rotated them a few times just to loosen them up. And it worked. As for the hips, I cut a little bit of a rubber eraser and slid that in to the gap between the two sliders. It keeps them from moving inward. But they will flex outwards, and there's no way to stop that. For a while I thought the transformation instructions had a step missing. Because it looks like that should be away to lock them into place using the piece of plastic down the back that creates Prime's butt crack. But there isn't.
Pre-ordered C-02 what feels like a lifetime ago. Waiting patiently for my Prime to make its way to me in Canada. Mulled over getting C-01 versus C-02 but I'm glad I went the animated deco route after you showed it'll hitch up to the classic trailer easy peasy. Thanks for this! and I agree...great review !
love the look of this guy. I am curious are those modern Takara Diaclone figures the same scale as those vintage ones ? as I'll probably try getting one for mine . also wondering how he would fit on the vintage Ultra magnus rig ? I know they'll probably not do it but would love to see vintage G1 Megs get this treatment but I guess if they do any Megatron it be Tank version
Yeah, the modern Diaclone drivers are basically the exact same size as the old ones- just a lot more articulated and detailed. Sadly ML Convoy cannot attach to the Magnus armour bc of not having the fist peg holes. Oh and I wouldn’t count out a Megatron! Takara don’t have the same problems making a gun mode as Hasbro… maybe!
I appreciate this quick impression! Im anticipating my toy version delivery tomorrow and this was such a treat to just wet my appetite for my incoming toy goodness! I can’t wait to see the full review and those glorious photos you’ll take!!
I'm always more of a fan of the non-scripted, off-the-cuff reviews of figures. Whether they be positive first glances OR negative. It helps me to truly understand where my priorities stand with a figure i'm interested in compared to the reviewers. Amazing job on this one, my toy-colors edition will be here tomorrow (as I'm typing this) and this just made me all the more hyped for mine!
Great job on the review. I admit seeing what this version can do peaked my interest as looking back at some of the G1 originals they looked nothing like the comic or cartoon. I’m kind of enjoying the more cartoon accurate version like the Studio Series 86 line, but this Optimus is nice! Love the articulation!
This looks incredible, I cannot wait to get these figures. I had to preorder both versions because if I only got one I'd forever be kicking myself for not having the other. It's already my figure of the year and I don't even have it in-hand yet. I forgot how much chrome adds to a figure's appearance, it really does make a toy look more premium than just silver paint does. Also not to be all Gewunner but they really have never topped the G1 box aesthetic, have they?
Always happy to get more Sixo videos. Really looking forward to this release - I've been trying to explain to my son that I have an Optimus Prime on the way that's an updated version of the toy I most wanted when I was his age.
This video, more than any photos or videos elsewhere on the Interwebs, really sold it for me. Thanks, I guess? Truth is, it was your candor and genuine enjoyment of the figure which you shared here, that came across so effectively (and convincingly! More so than any of your previous scripted video reviews. I cannot wait to see your review of C-01 once you get it in hand.
Great unboxing vid! I was already excited for this, but then your excitement further added to my excitement. I really do hope we get more Missing Link figures.
Very excited for this I'm very glad to hear of Die-cast and I had no idea the fists were attached. Will definitely be getting C-02, 01 is a hit much for me.
I was mildly worried that the legs would look really weird because the thighs are so thin while the torso is so big and bulbous, but they actually turned out pretty good!
Wow!!! I remember having this toy when I was a child and...gave it away!!! 😭...I have preordered the updated C-01 Optimus Prime and watching your review (thanks a lot!)...makes me very excited to have it "once more" on my hands...thanks for sharing @Sixo.😍
I’ll add to the chorus, superb review @SixoTF 😊 one thing I enjoyed here with this style was that your enthusiasm really bursts through. I have this ordered and hoped to not watch any reviews before I had it, partly because I didn’t want my enthusiasm to be impeded. However, because you were so joyful I found myself grinning like a buffoon and my anticipation has only grown such that now I can’t wait for my own C-02 to arrive. Cheers again. TTFN.
It's so wierd seen g1 prime move like that but is so truly amazing that you can't just not love it. I really hope this sells well so they keep making them so Wheeljack gets this treatment, that I'd buy without a doubt
Banger of a figure! My toy version just touched down in LA. Not sure if I'll be able to resist opening it. I'll be seeing Peter Cullen next weekend and debating having this or a poster I got from Geoff Senior signed. Of all the 1st world problems, that one may take the biscuit!
I started making my own design to add articulation to the G1 toy years ago, I wanted to eventually model and 3D print it, but now I don't have to, this is perfect! I also had the fists tuck in under the grille, I'm glad they decided to make it this way and not try to emulate the World's Smallest Transforming Optimus, which had the fists molded straight into the forearms. The proportions might have looked more normal had they gone that way, but it would not have evoked the original toy so well. WST Optimus might also be a good figure to photograph with the Missing Link version, as it stands out to me as the only other time they reimagined the G1 mold in its entirety (albeit on a smaller scale). More than any other figure, I would hope that Missing Link makes a G1 Megatron next, simply because I've never owned one, and it might be the only way we would be likely to ever get an official G1 Megatron that turns into a gun again.
Very awesome review and product i think i will buy just the cab missing link and when the retro g1 animated color came out later i will use the trailer for both figure !!!
I enjoyed this unscripted review, it feels more natural and relatable since your love for these figures, and the enjoyment they give you, is actually fealt. I think that's very important. Thanks for creating these videos.
I have been very impatiently waiting for mine and this video just made that wait so much harder! It's a fantastic toy and I really enjoyed the review. Your excitement really came through!
Great review! I’ve got the original g1 and I also gave the Japanese new years convoy … and I’m still over the moon about this. Watching the reviews gets me even more excited
It’s gorgeous. Love the unscripted, naked reactions to the figure. Slightly worried about those opening hands getting loose over time and he can’t hold his gun. Wish they’d stayed solid molds.
I had the with-trailer version on order from Pulse, but changed my mind. I have one of the G1 remakes from 2020, and that's good enough so far. If I can find a figure-only release somewhere at a decent price, that might be tempting. But I'd have no use for all the extra stuff like the trailer... Excellent work!
Looking at this thing of beauty, I made a joke with my online friends calling him DreamMix TV Optimus, because in that game, he was basically the toy design with more articulation
Awesome first impressions. I'd love to get it but I've slowly down on collecting and don't want to spend the big bucks on these anymore. I maaaaay have to have an exception for this guy though. He was one of my oldest figures.
I want this guy so badly, but he’s just a little too pricey for me. I’m glad he turned out as well as he did, and that people who are getting him are enjoying him as much as they are!
Loved your review i cant wait for the old color way one thats what i ordered i really hope we see more g1 toys remastered like this especially megatron
I’m waiting on my Hasbro Pulse pre-orders (got both C01 and C02) to dispatch, but once the toy version hit Amazon Japan a few days ago for immediate shipping, I bought one anyway so I’m watching reviews now to bide time until the Amazon JP order gets delivered and will keep the Pulse C01 MIB once that ships.
When you think you've seen it all, you get surprised by something like this. More off-the-cuff reviews would be nice, especially for small or grouped toys you feel like gushing about. Would be neat!
It's a beautiful toy. I got the toy colour version for maximum nostalgia. I was a tiny bit disappointed that the spring-loaded launcher for Roller in the trailer is absent.
i'm loving the influx of reviews of this guy but this is the first review on this version which I did preorder because imo the one with the trailer is just too expensive for me and he's going to get here in march so can't wait!!
I just pre ordered missing link Prime w. trailer, because of your video. I didn't want to, but yeah, here we are. I want a new g1 Megs now...make it happen.
Do love the classic Sixo unscripted approach just cos it doesn't feel rushed. Even though it's first impressions you still take your time are articulate well and catch ever detail we could want. Obviously the scripted reviews are more on the in depth/thoughtful side and I welcome them too. Really am needing my one of these to arrive now. Was wondering if the elbows would be changed from the sort of springy approach the originals had. Nice to see actual ratchets in them. Wasn't expecting ratcheted knees too. Hoping they do a Missing Link Rodimus Prime eventually cos that toy could really do with the glow-up. Love my original but it'd be improved so much with articulation. Could even become an all timer I reckon.
I love this toy. As an old school Transformers fan this hit the spot. I missed out on the original and thought MP 10 was all I needed but I am so glad I put this and the toy version on pre-order. What a time to be a Transformers fan!
Funnily enough i think the stickers might push me to get this guy! I much prefer the toy look over the flat cartoon accurate look for this toy but also don't have the money for the full combat deck version!
Your quick review is more in-depth than most people’s scripted reviews! Great toy, great review.
Haha thanks so much! I can’t help myself
Agreed.
I'm thrilled Takara took the chance on this. I hope it sells well enough to get dozens of other characters. Prowl, Hot Rod, Devastator... all of them really!

At the very least, megatron, starscream, soundwave, and... oo a grimlock would be cool

The same thing happened to me.
Now THIS is a retro upgrade done right.
I'm actually surprised that HasTak didn't do this kind of stuffs before in one of their numerous reissues of G1 toys.
Me too!
Honestly i'm most surprised third parties didn't produce any g1 upgrade sets,
Finally, the first video that shows all the poses he can make
Absolutely love the fact that we’ve gotten more Sixo this week! I’ll watch in any format- but this has certainly been great to watch regardless!
Thank you, that’s so kind!
Your positive voice and obvious love for this hobby is really an inspiration.
That’s so nice, thank you!
I want moar of these. Missing Link Jazz in particular, his G1 toy was pretty cartoon accurate aside from his legs being pinned together.
Ooh yeah, that would be amazing
I would love a Missing Link Jazz or a one like the new reissues that would go with the recent Hot Rod and Hound.
It's so sureal seeing this.
The hand fix alone is just so good.

@@SixoTF in every sense of the word
Awesome first impressions. I'd love to get it but I've slowly down on collecting and don't want to spend the big bucks on these anymore. I maaaaay have to have an exception for this guy though. He was one of my oldest figures.
He’s a worthy exception for sure
Great review as always.
Am I the only one who would have preferred had they used the cartoon accurate head from the Device Label retool years ago?
Thank you! You're not the only one as I have seen others mention it, although personally I'm happy they didn't
Great review! Looking forward to the longer review as well!
Thank you!
amazing figure. Now I need a missing link Megatron, Soudwave, and Starscream.
Same
I want this guy so badly, but he’s just a little too pricey for me. I’m glad he turned out as well as he did, and that people who are getting him are enjoying him as much as they are!
Sorry to hear!
Beautiful. Gotta try to my own one as well.
For sure
Loved your review i cant wait for the old color way one thats what i ordered i really hope we see more g1 toys remastered like this especially megatron
Thanks! And yeah me too
I’m waiting on my Hasbro Pulse pre-orders (got both C01 and C02) to dispatch, but once the toy version hit Amazon Japan a few days ago for immediate shipping, I bought one anyway so I’m watching reviews now to bide time until the Amazon JP order gets delivered and will keep the Pulse C01 MIB once that ships.
Hope you enjoy it
When you think you've seen it all, you get surprised by something like this.
More off-the-cuff reviews would be nice, especially for small or grouped toys you feel like gushing about. Would be neat!
Ok great to hear!
It's a beautiful toy. I got the toy colour version for maximum nostalgia. I was a tiny bit disappointed that the spring-loaded launcher for Roller in the trailer is absent.
Yeah someone else mentioned that earlier. A small compromise.
@@SixoTF I just got mine, and I was super surprised that the missile launchers are fully functional at a range of at least 2 metres. That's retro! :D
Fantastic !!! Thank you for your review of this Masterpiece 😊🙏👍
My pleasure!
i'm loving the influx of reviews of this guy but this is the first review on this version which I did preorder because imo the one with the trailer is just too expensive for me and he's going to get here in march so can't wait!!
Hope you enjoy him!
I just pre ordered missing link Prime w. trailer, because of your video. I didn't want to, but yeah, here we are. I want a new g1 Megs now...make it happen.
Haha nice!
Thank you! That’s great feedback and appreciated.
And yeah, Rodimus is probably my number 1 hope for this line atm!
I love this toy. As an old school Transformers fan this hit the spot. I missed out on the original and thought MP 10 was all I needed but I am so glad I put this and the toy version on pre-order. What a time to be a Transformers fan!
Exactly!
Your work, as always, is top-tier... and boy is this one absolute stunner of a figure. Thanks for giving us a prime look at it!
Thanks so much!
Great review. And my word, that thing is glorious.
Thanks! And yes
Great review and its a great figure im psyched for them to come in.
Thanks!
Funnily enough i think the stickers might push me to get this guy! I much prefer the toy look over the flat cartoon accurate look for this toy but also don't have the money for the full combat deck version!
Could be a good option! Not sure how they’ll apply over the moulded detail
I could see soundwave being any easy choice for them to do next
I could see it
