    This should be taught to everyone at the first lesson as swing 101. Thank you sir! I've been plagued by the lack of forearm rotation during downswing until recently I found out the exact same thing myself. I wish I could have seen this earlier. Really appreciated it Eric.

    Such a great topic, for a video, Eric. I’m scratch, and I’m sorta the “hold off the face” guy. I like the security of the face staying more stable. My direction control is normally very good, with all clubs. However…. I have experimented with more forearm roll, and the strike, and distance definitely improves. But, my direction suffers. I understand why you’re promoting this, and I actually wish I had learned to play this way. It’s the reason Tour Pros strike it perfectly, and hit it a mile. However, they do spray it when it’s off a little. But, my method is also the reason that I suffer with strike, and distance control on days that I’m off. I guess you could say that it’s a trade off. Allowing the forearms to naturally roll = improved strike, and effortless distance, but direction control is a little more unpredictable. Hold the face off more = very predictable left, and right control, but strike, and distance isn’t as effortless. Again… GREAT VIDEO! Love your channel, bro.

    Eric, once again you hit another home run with this video. The drills you provide and not just this one are really spot on! They have helped me immensely. I think the biggest mistake amateurs make is expecting results immediately. You can’t just do a few reps and expect a sudden miraculous change. You have to ingrain it into your swing by repeatedly doing your drills. Just posted to consecutive scores of 80 practicing your drills. The course measures 6113 yds from the tees I used. I haven’t done that in years. Not bad for a 72 yr old fart like myself!

    I never leave comments on videos but after watching this, I knew I had to speak up.
    I recorded myself at the range today because I was really striking the ball poorly (I’m still fairly new to golf and therefore inconsistent). When I got home and reviewed the footage, I was happy with my backswing, still needs some tweaks but much better than where I started, but my downswing looked awful! The worst chicken wing possible in my lead arm. This video was exactly what I needed to see, and I’m excited to try this at the range next time.
    Needless to say I hit that subscribe button immediately!

    Excellent video, arm rotation is something i practiced extensively during first lockdown, with a rubber mat, and those airballls in my garden, well worth it, as a result i hit a slight draw now, unless a fade required, at aged 69, added bonus, the extra distance throughout the clubs was most welcome.

  • @noodle3872

    This is move rotate, extend, release drill is something I’ve been working on since March. I am now finding I hook the living crap out of seven iron through driver. The lower end of the bag has a soft draw flight. Prior to working on my extension/release habits I hit the ball very straight to a baby fade. At the end of my swing the clubface is pointing to the ground. I’ve taken a couple lessons, and I am told my fundamentals are solid. However, I can’t seem to break the habit of hooking the longer part of my bag.

      1. More shaft lean at impact

    I have somewhat of a chicken wing in the follow through but much later than your example (like I pull my arms left instead of extending in the follow through). My shots tend to go straight and left but good power… needs a fix.

    Great video but Argh- I am a 5 & my swing is complete trash - I am 6’3” & I allow my crappy understanding of the left side turn me into a 3’6” player . I have spent the last 3 weeks hitting 1 arm lead-side shots only - I am doing a deep dive & slowly things are revealing themselves to me - i want to Gee these concepts you discuss here but there are not clicking !! I feel like I am lashing out at the ball & then pulling club back towards me at & after impact - what are other “feels” that will left me know I am using my left arm correctly ??

      Hey Hylan---I REALLY...really.....could help you if we could see your swing but without seeing your swing I would just be guessing so much. Need to see what you are currently doing and the root issues to show how to fix. Send swings in to www.cogornogolf.com if you don't get it sorted and we will fix/give you specific answers

    For a super strong grip, it should be less rotation, right Eric?

    • @CogornoGolf

      Relatively speaking yes-----but still need SOME

    Is this consistent with the videos you did with the precious impact? I am having a hard time, keeping that right, wrist bent and making the release you are showing in this video.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! You'll be blending the trail wrist extension with the forearm rotation. Start short and slow and gradually build your way up. Use video feedback to confirm your motions in practice👊

    You want to feel Kentucky Fried Chicken Crispy at impact. You don't want to become the chicken wing. I learned this from the KFC King himself Tom Saguto. If you wanna feel Krispy Kreme, or Captain Crunch at impact, then great. Just don't produce a chicken wing lest you find yourself thrown into the frier and eaten alive by the golf course. I think this is the greatest take a away in golf. Feel the Crispy, don't become it. Thanks

    I asked my PGA instructor about this one lesson -- like, 'shouldn't my swing have some of this?' and he goes "Nooo no no, imagine how much timing you'd need to have perfect for that... let's just focus on a strong grip and making good contact." ... is he wrong? or just not putting a lot of confidence in me just yet, trying to get my basics down?

    • @CogornoGolf

      Hey there!
      Golfers HAVE TO have rotation (lead arm supination, trail arm pronation).....EVERY.....SINGLE....GOLFER....EVER....has and always will.
      The questions are HOW MUCH and WHEN?
      That depends a lot on the players body motions, club face angle (how open or closed it is to shaft/plane on the way down), and grip
      Check out this video below on this, it may help explain more especially the second half:

    Welcome to pull hooks club

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Yes for sure....love to see PULL HOOKS at first for players who normally miss WEAK RIGHT.....which most do.
      Once you get pull hooks (you learned to over close the club face to path (thats good)).....then you can learn to turn the volume down on that OR tweak other pieces to match that new face
      That should result in better contact/compression, more distance and direction control!
      Hope that helps--all the best!

    I’m seriously struggling with a 10-13 degree in-to-out path. I just can’t correct the path to get the ball to no hook.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey!
      Hands should be roughly in front of left thigh from face on at impact.....several factors affect that. Body rotation, weigh shift, wrist angles, etc etc
      Would need see your swing to see what's going wrong--with or without this move in this video. Send swings to www.cogornogolf.com when you're ready

    Short right with poor contact, that’s Jordan Spieth miss, he has the worst looking chicken wing in pro golf.
