You really want an Elk? Hunt with horses. You cover 10X times or more ground, and when you get one, you have the game bags over your saddle, and it's much easier to get them out. I got 5 elk over my hunting career, and having horses was the difference maker. You get past where everyone else is, and find the animals literally goofing off. The problems now days are the wolves, and the elk bunch up like this, because there is safety in numbers and hundreds of sets of eyes watching out for danger. Because of the wolves, they have made it a needle in a haystack proposition. All or nothing.

they'd be just as healthy without people hunting them and without the flag. I'm not against hunting, just know that predators take the easier targets, not just the healthiest breeding bulls.
I have seen two herds of elk converge from different sides of a mountain in Colorado. I was about halfway up that mountain and it was one of the most awesome sights I had ever seen. Nothing like this, totaling maybe two hundred after the herds joined.

Amazing, impressive and majestic....thank you for sharing.
The elk herd is a powerful reminder of nature’s beauty and strength.
Lived in Yellowstone several years 1000s of elk always close gave them much respect
Wonderful to see these herd migrations. Yesterday, I noticed that our Elk herd came down into the Willits Valley basin (NorCal), after that "atmospheric river" dumped lots of snow on the ridge tops.
This is why I can fall asleep so fast every night! I don’t count sheep. I count elk!
Lived in the grande ronde Valley of northeastern Oregon for 25 years. This was a constant site especially during the winter on the valley floor. Great video! Some really nice bulls in that hurd!
Very cool!
Thanks for showing this wonderful elk herd. Great
Thanks for visiting
I like how they "pour" over the fence, although it's too bad it is that way.
Thank you for this! Excellent camerawork btw.
@@LisaPrecious thank you. Had to document so I could watch the moment again. So happy to share.
Magnificent! Watching a true leader guiding his herd is something to see. 😮 Leaders lead in the animal world.
Watch again. The herd leader is a COW at the pinnacle of the herd hierarchy. Not a male.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
Finally ! A reality I can live with ! Ah Yes ! I remember it well...My buddy Gary and I crawling up to a fence through 3 ft of snow in a field in Alberta. We thought they were all Muley does...and then the sun broke thru the clouds...-20F was like a spring day ! And then , the Bull raised it's head...We counted about 30 cows and yearlings. Best meat you will ever taste and so much energy ! The original Happy Meal !
We married in the spring of 73. Honeymoon camping trip outside the ELK preserve near Jacksonhole Wyoming. Watched the elk for hours everyday. Nothing like this. Following winter we returned with a video camera. Memories are truely made of moments like this.
Wow will you look at that. What a sight.!!
WOW! That was Amazing! Thanks!
It's a thrill to be able to share these moments!
