I am kicking myself seeing the advantages of your scissor lift. My shed at the side of the house was limited to 6m x 4m. the two post hoist only just fits in there and it is a pain to get around once I have a car parked between. Getting in and out of the cars between the two post has always been a bugbear for me. Your system looks like heaven. I might have to bite the bullet and change. When I bought the two poster I had it in the shed at the back which was 9m x 6m, so it wasn't an issue, but as I bought some old three phase machinery (old three phase machines tend to be quite large), I just ran out of room in the large shed for working on cars.
Hell of a bit of kit there Dave and by looks of it me and the wee lad starting in a cameo role at the end there at the rhinka lol dandering in to get some rum and raisin! 😂
Nice setup , i use one similar every day. only times i have to swap to a 2 post are things like fuel tanks and such. For doing interior work these are amazing because you don't have to squeeze in and out the doors haha
Dave last year I installed my 2nd scissor lift after using first 1 for about 15 years. (Looked very worn. ). My new lift is a different make to yours but with a lot of identical parts to yours. Hydraulics and safety system is identical. Mine came with custom made box sections that go over the hydraulic pipes to protect them. It uses a light sensor between the 2 ramps. If the ramps were to go out of level sync by a small amount it stops which I really liked and showed itself working when I was bleeding the system. Far better that a 2 post when doing jobs like working under the dash as you can have car door fully open. Enjoy your new toy I certainly do mine. 😊
@@davesterl not sure who actually makes it but it's made for and sold under the company name of Automotech Garage Equipment . They have a web site with all the ramps they sell and I'm assured all spares are available
If you have an optical sensor for sync, it is unlikely you have identical hydraulics and the same design. It might look the same, with twin rams, however these rams are connected in series with each other negating the need for an optical sensor. In this design, the larger master ram does the lifting and the slave is redundant. Cheaper models may have twin rams, but both are required for lifting hence the need for an optical sensor to keep it synchronised.@@the_retired_mechanic
That is great Dave, wish I had the height for a ramp like that… anyway, there is now absolutely no excuse for you to not get some more of your great videos out! 👍
That is awesome Dave, some really handy tips for fitting & purchasing one of these lifts. I do like the fulcrum thing that slows down the drop speed. The Brera got the maiden voyage. Well done on that & the very best of luck with it for the next 15 or 20 years 🤞🤞👍
I have a hofmann vx3500 hi-rise scissor lift so i made 4 x box section/checker plate stools 1 metre high to lower the car wheels onto then dropping lift when doing brake pipes in awkward places / bits of welding & tracking i know its back onto my knees for a while but it works for me because i am limited for space also hope this helps dave.
i do a lot a work on motorcycles i had one of those lifts you pump up with your foot it was all ways in the way when not in use so i dug a hole an got a hydraulic pump never looked back 😁😁😁
It look good, but I bet your dropped 10mm socket will always roll into the lower concrete pad or under you rubber hose protection mat.....I like the cleaner brighter paint work. A Great upgrade.
A lot of hard work has gone into this refurb for sure and i can see why you have been off the grid for a bit. You can see the quality of the lift but I'm not sure my nervous head could cope with the concept of not having a mechanical restraint to prevent unwanted lowering of the lift. If the main hose ruptured, I'm assuming it would lower slowly due to valving ?? Can the ramps be lifted off the bed ? I'm just thinking this would be helpful to accommodate the Sharkeye alignment tracking tables. Looking forward to seeing the lift in action in coming videos . I'm on a 2 post at the moment but this has certainly wetted the appetite.........
There must be a hose from the pump to the rams and a hose back to the reservoir tank surely.... ??? . If a hose ruptures, or a control valve leaks, what stops the rams from descending?? Watched the video again and the master and slave rams surely just serve to balance the both sides - in the same way as the cables do in a two post. Either that, or its a case that it is operating as a split hydraulic system with the assumption that both systems don't fail at the same time?? Genuinely interested to understand how it works..
Nice install - as usuall a LOT of hidden work goes into jobs like this - can you not raise the roof ?? My mate built a 2 story extension on his house there was nothing upstairs - but he could lift a van in it height wise !!! It was cheaper than renting premisis or buying a garage miles from where he lived - when he gets sick he just washes his hands & goes to bed !! LOL
That worked out great, especially when you want to just drive in and not lift a car -- you have so much more room to walk around or even open the doors! It must have been a very difficult decision for you, not knowing exactly how it would work out.
Very nice Dave , you know sandy will want some now 😂, looks the dogs bs , the vehicles are so much safer on these than a 2 post lift , it will be like using a 4 post lift on the vehicle but you can get at nearly everything without back ache 👍
Good job, and a nice flat floor if ur happen to be doing other projects. Mine is a scissor lift that sits above the floor and only goes up to 1m lift but since I have the same issue u do with height it works perfect for me. Also I am just a hobbyist so it basically a luxury 😂. I did serve my time as a mechanic but left the trade to work in a certain aircraft factory I'm sure u have heard of 👍(I'm not far from u)
Your garage is looking great, i used to work in a garage that had something similar, it was a cheaper version than yours and wasnt counter sunk. Interesting to see whats involved in fitting it. Looking forward to seeing it in use. Cheers mate
Looks great Dave! We have the same scissor lift in the dealers although there not sunk in the floor like you. Very professional! The Kia lads drop engines out all the time, others have done clutches etc with no issues. Fantastic for when you’re doing interior work and you need the doors open Great setup 👍

Looking to purchase one but cant find a supplier.

Welcome back Dave, thought you'd taken early retirement, nice lift 👍🏻
The garage refurb is fantastic. But the new lift is a game changer for you. Look forward to seeing it in action in future videos Dave.
They look great addition to what is not a fantastic looking workshop, look forward to seeing more content 👌🏼

@@davesterl that was meant to say “now” but yeah ok 🙈😂
Lovely setup Dave. I also know a couple of little ones who likes a wee run to the Rinkha

Very smart Dave. A bit of blood sweat and tears 💰 has gone into that for sure. Doesn’t beat ice-cream and toys mind 😜
How much space did you Make between the ramps and How much space between ramp and concrete edge?
Good to have double cilinders on each side but why are the slave cilinders slightly smaller than the masters?
what size is the garage? looks small but very well!
I love scissors lift but I have a question if you had the space and the budget would you go for a four post or stay with scissors lift?
