  • Attention:
The movement in the Omega X Swatch Moonwatch,
There is one main difference between the MoonSwatch functionality VS the production units of the G10.211 / G10.212 movements available from ETA : the MoonSwatch is a no date watch but the G10.211 / 212 has a date.
    ------------
The ETA caliber G10.212 G10.211 is a Swiss made quartz chronograph movement with 4 jewels . This caliber is part of ETA's Fashionline family of quartz movements . It is not considered to be a repairable movement and is largely found in entry level lower priced timepieces.
    Caliber G10.211, G10.212
    ⚠️This video show only disassemble
⚠️This movement is part of ETA’s Fashionline group of quartz movements. This caliber is not considered to be a repairable movement and is largely found in entry level lower priced timepieces.
⚠️Movements of these calibres can-not be disassembled, therefore, this document contains information on electrical tests and hands fitting only-ETA

Maybe not the most expensive ETA Movement (or the best one) but still a work of art from an engineering perspective!

This why I like seiko movements more ! Like the seiko flightmaster movement 7T34. It easily runs 20 years and is fixable. This ETA is not a bad movement….I like the Seiko’s more .

I would not want to keep using a 20 year old quartz movement. As technology advances so does accuracy. The fact that these movements can’t be worked on is completely irrelevant. They don’t require service, other than a battery change, because they gears are not under any significant load. The wear on any moving parts is almost nil. My G10.211 is currently running at about 6 seconds or so fast per year. It is not thermocompensated. MyG10.212 is currently running about 3 seconds a month fast. Again, this beats Seiko movements at this price point by a county mile.

The movement is not repairable, but watches with it are. For $65, the movement can be replaced. The hardest part is either removing the stem or opening the watch case. Te rest of the replacement is not too bad.
