- I've always thought, personally, that Ben's best songs are love songs. The temperament of his love songs usually ranges between playful and painful. Someone is usually leaving, or left and came back. They're asking for forgiveness or dealing with pain. Grace's Casket is my personal favorite, and the list is decently long at least. This one is a little more earnest than the others. He rarely has seemed to write so directly about honest, soft, long love. No one is leaving, no one has plans of going anywhere ("i'm too old for gettin gone"). No ultimatums, no judgement, no anger. It is good to see some evolution in the approach to the subject matter, one that reflects maturity and acceptance with the passing of time.
Like any relationship, i'm sure Ben and Ashley's is complicated. Over the years i've come to see, as tough as it is, they seem to keep each other sane. Sane as one can be anyway. Ben seems to thrive with a little bit of order, and I think that's true for a lot of us. I wouldn't want to live with Ben for 10 years, so good on Ashley. Hard to imagine ten years has passed at all, and I know they would've been a lot different had things turned out any other way. So sing a love song to the ones you love, and stop blaming them for what's wrong with you.

Bernard Smith some of the best artist’s I’ve ever heard were never mainstream, and that’s what made them unique and as good as they are. That’s why the term sellout exists, because people go mainstream for the mindless mass of people.

Ben's music touches that part of my mind that is always on 'hold'. It makes me stop and think about where I am, where I'm going and more importantly, what I have now. He's one of the few musicians that consistently moves me to tears. These songs have helped me through some very difficult times. I often find myself up late at night with my family asleep, gently picking and singing his songs to quiet my mind. Such beautiful art.

Omg man this song hits home. I have been with my girlfriend 11 years. She has stuck through everything I have put her through. My addictions all the times I've gotten mad and threw her shit out bc my addictions. She has put up with it all and now im free of the addiction and had ahold of me.we have bought a house both decent jobs and we are doing fantastic. Today my fiance told me he no longer wanted me, we've been together for years supposed to get married next year.we just lost two babies christmas eve to a miscarriage.
