Chills through my body, my best friend showed me Benjamin Todd and lost dog street. We had so many nights crying over our beers to his music. He passed a year ago from our viscous disease. Shortly after I was given the gift of desperation and sought help. I just celebrated my first year of sobriety. I lost my best friend but through this music I’m able to still connect to him. Crying as I type this, from the bottom of my heart Thank you for your music and I can’t wait to see you live in may.
As much as I love their past work, I also love that they're branching out in a slightly different musical direction. Talent this good shouldn't be corralled.
Helped me get clean from fentanyl, I just had my brothers funeral this past weekend he overdosed he never did it he was one of the people who helped me get clean the most and I never thought I’d lose him. Not sure what I’m getting to but I’m lucky to be here today and for everything and everyone that helped me
Hey brother, it's been a couple of months since you posted. I hope you're doing well ✌️ There's a good number of us here that know the pain. I know that isn't much comfort & I know loneliness is the beast that never really goes away, even if you kick your habits he still waits for his moment. So I wanted to tell you that you're not alone and even if one of us can help from hundreds of miles away through a phone, you've got people who will talk to you. Keep yourself safe!
Finding lost dog street band was one of the best moments of my life. I can vividly remember riding my motorcycle or riding with the windows down on a beautiful southern night and genuinely just breathing again. I never would have anticipated these two beautiful souls giving my music library the light and the dark. But years later, I still can't get enough. Life shit kicks us all - and love is the only power strong enough to push us onward. I genuinely cannot contain my excitement to see you guys on tour one day. Keep living and keep writing beautiful memoirs of life. Xoxo
Damn. All 3 of you were convincing in the acting. Sitting here in my head yelling at Ashley "run, he's gonna croak!". Then I audibly laughed when he rolls over bloody and hands her the flower 😂. Beautiful Melody, contagious vibes. Lost Dog is back bayyyyybeeeeeeee
This song always makes me think of my girlfriend, the only other human I have felt unconditional love toward, and also made me realize I need to keep pushing forward for her, keep evolving, and becoming the best possible version of myself for her. She deserves me at my best, not as I was a year ago, a month ago, or even yesterday. She's filled my life with purpose and I will fight till the day I die, for her. Anything for her.
There are artists that move me deeply.Jonny Cash, Waylon Jennings, The Band, Hank, CCR, Van Morrison, The Dead, Warron Zevon..... Lost Dog, is right up there. They're talent and authenticity waters my eyes.
The note from Ben (The talents and responsibilities I carry are incredibly rare and are not lost on me now that I am fully a man.) and the lyrics of this song (Take my hand and close your eyes Follow me through all the politics and pride) are so deeply given and received. Thanks to him.
My partner died of different circumstances, but it was sudden and it was in my arms. He left me with our cats who keep me here, but I'm broken and I may never be home again. This video wadded all that up in a ball and pummeled it into my gut. Y'all are always tugging hard on the real stuff and highlighting beauty alongside tragedy, and I love you for that. I don't think I can watch this one again, but I absolutely appreciate it. Awesome storytelling evolution you've had 🖤 Edit: to be clear, this is a compliment twisted up with some public af trauma processing. Your music is fundamental in my experience and I appreciate the crap out of you both. 🖤
I am so glad I found their music. It has definitely helped me through some hard spots in life these past few years. Addiction, funerals and 6 years in the worst prison in Indiana. Thank you Benjamin for knowing how to put words to how I feel
Ben I ride FTRA for 35 years and I love your music . I thought for a second you were selling out to Trashville . At the end when your hound found a brother down. The brighter shade of blue came to light . Brother let me tell ya something I live on freight and 9800 feet in a two story glass house cabin . I've hopped freight outta Eugene seeing tags that read. ( You can send me to hell with the rest of my friend's ) I know for sure you tagged em) because why I know you never ride that car . It was a bark hauler ) You tagged it when you were bored off or on . KEEP IT PURE BROTHER . BLACK SKANK KREW 5150
When I thought I heard the best your soul had to offer…….. You always leave me with my head down, soaking in the feelings. I know what does you had to go through to bring these emotions back with you. Thank you both for just existing in my time. Makes life so much sweeter to taste. Cheers and salute !!!!!
Great work you two. This is really impressive and well produced. Mr. Todd, your vocals on this are vastly different than a lot of your other music. The fiddle is outstanding and keeps the pace of the song going very well. Overall, there is a fullness with this song that is not present in some of your other compositions. Congratulations for creating a wonderful piece of music.👍 Thank you for sharing this with everyone.
Amazing piece of art! 1:24 has a shot of Ashley wearing a South Dakota buckle, been out in rapid city for a couple years would be great to catch LDSB out this way!
This is so good I had to listen to it twice. It's sounds brand new and familiar at the same time. Exceptional songwriting as always, can't wait for the album!
I Love this song. I like the end of the video too. It's like a representation of what a man gos through to make sure his woman not only has what she needs. But trying to make sure she has everything she could want. Going above and beyond just to see her smile. But it also shows the strength of a woman picking us up. And putting us back together if we slip from the pressure. And showing us that we are loved, cherished, and respected. And for that I would like to think all the lovely, good heart wemon of this world.
I’ve spent most of my life being a sad sack of shit, constantly drowning my problems in a ocean of booze and drugs, lost dog has helped me cut out drugs and not only keep my humility but make me not hate myself. The music you guys produce is so beautiful and it’s one of the things that keeps me goin, we may be fuck ups but at least someone understands and doesn’t hate me.
Love me some LDSB. This one among many others of theirs made me a bit emotional but that's what I want in my music, something that makes me feel something.
Ben, don't know if you actually read these, but dude its been an awesome ride, from all the way back in Human Divine days. I was hoping you had those recordings tucked away somewhere, I neeeeeed to hear We Need Revolution again. Thanks again for taking us on this ride.
Love you Ben & Ashley. Thank you sir this song. My son n I were up n seen y'all in Lawrence KS last year. My best friend was supposed to go with. He left us forever soon after that night. May 2 2023. USMC Marv Crust. 85-23. Keep going y'all. You heal so many in dire need. ❤
Excellent as always brother..I was on the dark side without realizing it for years..I thought I was still a good guy despite being selfish and using and stealing and such but now I see the bright side of life...I'm proud of you and without God I couldn't of done it...still a long way to go ..God bless brother 🙏
A few years ago I went through a bad divorce lost and alone somehow I found your sos for the first time September doves and then another one I listen to terrible but true wasn't long after I started busking in North Wes Arkansas playing music in parks then bars then was locked up couple days for dwi so then the playing music stoped the what's a piece brought to me by music also stopped stayed alone for couple years didn't talk to anyone much no more shows no more busking I kept my music to myself in private but I still listen to your music since then I've got back on my feet remarried had a child and started a new beginning keeping on and I couldn't have done it without your music thank you Benjamin for always being their to guide me from one musician to another God bless
It has been a hell of ride following you two over the years. There have been a few valleys, for sure, but you're headed to the the peak now. Those valleys make that peak all the sweeter, too. Benjamin said in an interview a while back that it is hard to do those old songs these days because he's in an entirely different headspace now. We can't say you're a different person because that's impossible, but you are on a different plane now. The music is still fantastic, even if in a different light. Keep on, and I can't wait for the new albums!
Just lost both my uncles, needed this. Hey bud you meet a lot of people but you were gonna sing at my wedding and we got drunk a few times together at captains quarters in SATX together and gawt dayum those were some good ass times
First of all, thank you great song yall, the guitar and fiddle are in perfect harmony as usual. Second, Ben you are looking great, fit, and healthy for which I am so grateful. Not sure if intentional but this video is such a great metaphor for your relationship. Ben going off on his own, Ashley being there for him when he falls, Ben always reminding her how much he loves her. Beautiful.
Dang a lost dog music video! This is amazing seeing your art grow. I saw you guys when your TH-cam views were hardly above 5-10k. Seen you live 3 times. Drove out of state for one show even! Thank you for being a light of hope for me during these dark times. Your music has helped me in so many ways, my relationship with my soon to be wife, drugs and alcohol, mental health etc. I appreciate you guys!
Ben and Ashley, I will forever e grateful for what you give the world. Your music and interviews have helped me get and stay sober for 9yrs now. I’m now a father to wonderful son and husband to an amazing woman. If it weren’t for you guys and your music I’d be a pile of bones on a riverbank by now. With all the love in the world, thank you
Goodness gracious, this one hit me hard. The combination of the song with the video. That bluest flower where it doesn't belong cause it's a fantasy of what you're hoping for. 😥
Love and light, y’all keep shining bright. Thank y’all for sharing your music and stories and I’m so grateful to have found your music. Had to put my big brown boy down in March last year and sang/sobbed to him Mercy Bark as he went off to wait for me at the clearing at the end of the path. Thank you for your lyrics. You’ve saved many of us from an early grave by exposing your pain and allowing us who are broken a feeling like we can finally relate…thank you Ben.

Love ya brother. Keep the head high.
Sorry
Everyone talks about ole benny flippo but Ashley Mae is why people get to hear him.
Shout out to Ashley Mae for being the light house in the storm. ❤
This right here. ❤💯
Morning coffee, Lost Dog, and a couple tears to start the day. That's alright. Was cleansing. Better for it.
Today's going to be ok.
Cheers.
Yessir.
Don’t think you’re alone brother, I listen to this song before work and do the same thing on a regular basis.
The best for it.
I think the dog deserves a Oscar for his performance.
genius performance

I know you're dreaming about that blue flower dress....

Touched my soul with that
It makes us all appreciate and love Ashley and the many strong loving women like her. ❤️

Woke up, saw a new Lost Dog Street Band video. Knew it was going to be a good day. Listened thrice so far and it just gets better.
a criminally unappreciated genre of music
How would you describe it? I always have a hard time putting a label on it when describing Lost Dog to people.
