I feel like the 5th gen is a Muscle car and the 6th gen is a sports car. I just love the retro muscle car look of the 5th. Pure timeless. 6th gen is def a great performer though!!
I’ve learned if you don’t need all the fancy computer controlled electronics and want a more raw experience that will be cheaper to get into and maintain in the long run, go with the 5th gen, but if you need the screen, mag ride, NPP exhaust, and 4 different driving modes, then save your money to get a 6th gen
Pickrd up my 23 1ss riverside blue, black metallic stripe, npp, mag ride, recaros, red calipers, and of course the 6 speed, took yearand a half but sooo worth it
Lamborghini sales are lower than Corolla sales. Nicer cars cost more and peasants like cheap 5 th gens. Only a few 5th gens are half decent like this yellow one that’s modified the daylights out of, Z28, Zl1s, and the hot wheels or transformers special ones that are done up and not factory.
This is the first time hearing some people actually preferring the 5th gen Camaro.I pefer the 5th gen's styling and lack of so many electronic things.I went from a 5th gen SS to a 6th gen ZL-1 and then back to a 5th gen ZL-1 and I couldn't be happier. The 6th gen is getting away from what made the Camaro great. It almost looks like a European car.More sport looking than muscle.
I had 2 F bodies, a 5th gen SS that I wrecked. I'm here to see if a 6th gen I'd for me or the 5th gen. I like the 5th gen better, but the bells and whistles of the 6th gen is so much better. But price and looks goes to 5th gen. 5th gen again it is!
I’ve owned both gens as well. My 2018 2SS just puts the biggest smile on my face. I loved my 2015 too don’t get me wrong but it was missing that extra special aggressive yet timeless modern look. They have gone backwards in looks since 2018 in my opinion. They straight up couldn’t make it look any better and tinkered it into extinction. From 2016-2018 had the best looking years for the 6th Gen. Those will look timeless while the 5th Gen already look old but cool old. My profile pic speaks volumes tho lol
For me no comparison the 6 is just better right lol!! Use to think i liked the 5 gens looks better till i bought my 6. After i was thinking i was trying to sell myself on the looks just because i owned one. Now i love the 6 looks handling performance all around much better car.
Had a 2013 V6 convertible and traded it in for a 2018 V6 hard top. What a difference! The 5th Gen had a better daily drive and decent room, especially getting out of the car. The 6th gen was an impossibility if you couldn't swing out the door. I traded the 2018 in after 5K miles and one year.
How hard was it to recover the seats with the replacement covers? Do you just remove the old leather and put the new one in? how is the fitment and will it stretch the same as the original?
It was difficult but not as bad as other things I've done. I steamed the seat foam to help refresh it and then stretched the new leather over it. The hogrings were the toughest part of the whole experience.
Iv owned 5th gen now the 6 gen. For me no comparison love the 6 gen loved my 5 to but the 6 is just better all around. Iv also owned 2 gens and 3 loved them all but nothing like the 5 or 6 gen the drivability is just awesome.
Had a 5th gen 2ss. Loved it wanted too see what the 6th gen had to offer The 6th gen takes the corners so fast and agile makes the 5th gen feel like I was driving a truck. But I miss the looks of the 5th tho 😢
Dude I got the hot wheels edition 2018 got 5600 miles on it stays in the garage only bring it out when it’s beautiful out 8 speed transmission 455 hp 455 pounds of torque
There were other options I wanted that were removed when you added the 1LE package. If I recall, 2023 MY prohibited a Sunroof on 1LE. It had been available in 2022. I also wanted specific wheels for this car instead of the standard 1LE wheel.
I currently have a 21 2SS and I had a 00 Z28. I didn't care for the 5th Gen. I just thought it looked to cheap, especially inside. No offense. The differences between my 2 are night and day. My Z, while fun to drive, would beat you up. The new one, refined is the right word. It feels like a luxury car that can handle and go fast. A lot of reviewers knocked the 6th Gens for "not having to work to get the power." I can agree with that, because even granny driving it in the small town I live in, it's still accelerating all the time. You really don't feel it until you hit close to 4k RPMs. At 2k RPMs, you can still hit 100 mph without a problem. The HUD on the windshield is a must have for this car to stay out of trouble. I imagine the ZL1's, Shelby's and Hellcats are downright scary at first. My Z's sweet spot was around 1900 RPM's at 80 mph. Not 79, not 81, 80. LOL This one... The speed limits aren't high enough to find out without jail time. This car deserves a good amount of track time to find out; it was built for it. Another thing is that my 4th gen had so many small modifications that could each add a considerable amount of performance because the car was so handcuffed from the factory with restrictions. There are no cheap modifications for this car listed on the aftermarket shops' online service menu. It's really dialed in right off the showroom floor at the dealer. My only real knock isn't on the car, but on the tires GM used. Run flats. They don't really perform that well. If it's hot out and dry, they're alright. If not, they don't hook up to the road very well and this car has too much power for tires that don't stick well.
Them six-bangers ain't no slouches. More HP than the V8s had back in the day. All a six needs is the right exhaust and you're having just as much fun with a few more MPGs.
I had both 6th gen SS and a 5th gen 1LE. Hands down the 5th gen 1LE is the better driver's car and better quality car all around. A regular 5th gen SS unfortunately is pure ass as far as not fun to drive. You need a Z/28 or 1LE to wake it up. A true analog driver's car in an age of rolling computers like the 6th gen and 7th gen Vettes. I've done a full Z/28 suspension swap and weight reduction to make this 1LE a force to be reckoned with on autocross and track days. It's truly a god damned monster. Not a straight line beast at only 534rwhp but plenty quick to take advantage of it on a road course. I also need to mention that the 2010 to 2013 look better than 6th gen. Especially with afterburner tail lights and ZL1 front end. The 6th Gen ZL1 1LE is close but it looks too soft like a typical 6th gen except for the big grille opening. God bless you, sir.
I have something special planned, but it's gonna have to wait until she looks like the name represents. In the meantime, I've taken to calling her "Jane Doe" or "The New Girl".

Well said and spot on.

I think I would like to have a 6th gen Camaro with a 5th gen front end/dog house.

Sounds like a well-optioned beauty, best of luck with it. The hardest part is the 1500 mile break-in period, keeping it under 4000 RPM and 80 MPH...
Great comparison congrats on you recent purchase!
5th gen 2ss for me! And I should say for most as sales show. No contest!

I like the comparison of options. But can you compare wheelbase, chassis length, width, and sub-frame differences between the two.
I'm sure that's been done to death, especially in the first year of the 6th gen. This is my personal experience in owning/driving these two cars.
I have the 6th gen though 1Lt. Love it.
