Thanks scottyano. We did manage a few good days out of penarth .far better than the previous year .Time to turn our attention to the summer months now .let's hope for a good one. Catch u out there soon
@@toadfishuksportangling2690Hope to get out soon had a problem with the trailer. It’s sorted now. Probably be after the tope on the next trip and see what’s about. Tight lines mate
Thanks Brian .glad your enjoying the channel.speed of tide would depend on depth and location in our marks on the bristol channel .as a rule i tend to wait until the tide drops to around 2.5 knots before i anchor .we can anchor in much faster tides and depth ,however we prefer to fish in 2 knots or less ,far better for the catch and release of fish. thanks
Thanks for your reply on the speed of tide, everyone tells me at my local marina the tide is to fast to anchor, personally I have never seen it above 1.9 knots so want to give it a go this year, water depth is between 25-60m. We don’t get the small shark species or rays here, maybe anchoring and uptiding will prove people wrong. Thanks again
@@Brian-mb9ez Give it a try .as long as u have sufficient anchor rope and good chain and suitable anchor for your area you should get the setup to hold. we normally use at least 3 to 5 times depth in rope .around 25 feet of chain .inshore i use a 5kilo bruce anchor , some of the deeper trenches of the bristol channel require a 7kg to hold. just remember to be safe and sensible when dropping anchor .i use a simple rule of safety always make sure wind and tide are in same direction and if in doubt dont anchor. hope you get those fish soon .let us know how you get on please .thank u
@@toadfishuksportangling2690 Thanks for the tips, I won’t be home till February then have the weather to contend with, I will let you know how things go. Thanks again
