My favorite airline videos now. I always stan a fellow San Franciscan. You're videos are very informative and quite thorough. Really loved the KLM one you did, but this particular one with Miat is also wonderful.
Thanks! Now I'm just waiting for the anticipated inaugural flight to SFO with their 787, where I fully intend to join the festivities and experience the new MIAT product!
Thanks for the long takeoff video showing the Mongolian countryside. It looks so serene. I'm going to replay this on a larger television to enjoy the full experience.
Many thanks for this review, we will take tomorrow morning the same flight, the timing was perfect for your video and very well done with plenty of details. 🙏
Thank you! That hepled me pretty a lot for the Future and Unknow before I watched this Video. Ill flight with that Plane from Frankfurt and from Ulaabaartar to Japan and stay ther for one year and had no clue a all about the Plane itself - I thought it would be bigger. I dont travel or flight often but this time its my very first long Trip and Vacation alone and im really ecxited.
Good report on an airline that's not too prominent. I especially like the Lounge wall display that appears to depict multiple bird strikes on an engine - the intake nacelle and through the fan blades.😀😀
The old airport was by the mountain so they only had one runway for takeoff and landing. That caused many weather related delays. Ulaanbaatar is surrounded by mountains so they built the new airport further away from the city.
Totally! It was awesome to see it from above, since I’m not sure when I’ll be able to ever see Russia’s landscape from the ground, considering I am a US citizen.
I can't tell who operates that lone white A330 on the tarmac in Ulaanbaatar. Also, did anyone catch the owner of the 757 in front of the hanger seen on takeoff?
That A330 is being wet leased by MIAT now I believe. It was just recently acquired at the time so it was probably going through it’s checks and branding
Oh shit, is that Ulaanbatoor under the fog looking thing there, right under the end of the wing, at 16:50? It must be all the pollution that is stuck there due to cold air and no wind 😵 makes you think about how bad the air qualitiy can be there, hence all the cases of new borns with respitory problems 😢
The old airport was much closer to the city, but it had reached its capacity and there was no room for expansion because of the terrain it was built on. The new airport has longer runways and plenty of room to expand the terminal when necessary. The old Buyant Ukhaa airport felt like a chaotic third world airport but the new one looks quite smart.
That’s awesome! It sounds like they moved it in order to be a little further from the terrain that was limiting to IFR approaches. I am excited to try their 787-9, if they do ever bring it to San Francisco as they were planning
They're purchasing the B787-9 for their replacement aircraft to the current B767. I personally think a B767 with winglets is a competitive and efficient aircraft. But when we've got planes available at even lower operating costs, then why stick to old. This B767-300ER will probably be configured into a freighter and replace their current B757 freighter by the time the dream liners arrive. My personal favorites of theirs were their Airbus 310 and B727 because of classic they were.
Sea buckthorn 😂😂😂.. Great video. Did you stay in Mongolia ? I always wonder when you airplane reviewing people take these flights do you stay & mingle in those countries ?
Im assuming they have a partnership with them to help get snacks. Considering the airport was built with financial help from the Japanese, it wouldn’t surprise me to see more connections with nearby countries
It was interesting. Nothing earth shattering, but, taking a left turn sometimes, is the spice of life!
Im hearing the Po`Prayer by Xavy Rusan at the very beginning but without vocals, from where do you have that Vision from?
Nice video! Miat have already ordered two 787-9s and planning to launch flights to USA using them.
I was just reading up about that. If they do follow through on coming to SFO first, I’ll be sure to hop on that!
The first B787-9 was delivered yesterday “August 11, 2023”.
Welcome back 🇲🇳
Beautiful quiet takeoff and smooth landing.
Agreed!

Thanks for stopping by my fellow San Franciscan! Glad you like the videos!
It certainly was beautiful to see all that snow. It was a great vlog. Te food looked plentiful and the seat looked ok.
Thanks! Now I'm just waiting for the anticipated inaugural flight to SFO with their 787, where I fully intend to join the festivities and experience the new MIAT product!

It is beautiful and not seen all that much!
@ 16:03-18:13 WwoowW Beautiful Scenery, the wing and the music👌🏻👌🏻 Nice One Patrick
Thank you! It is amazing!
Your videos are very cool yet, informative!
Many thanks from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Thank you! Enjoy the flight!
You’re either braver or more daring than I am and I’m always impressed by your videos and travels.
Ha! I just love traveling and seeing the world and it’s many airlines and airports
Serene winter wonderland with snowy hills ulanbatar 😍 old style miat interiors especially the seat food decent enough. Very good vid 👍
Thanks! I am excited to try their new 787. Sounds like it’ll start flying to SFO next year
Thank you so much! 🇲🇳I am Mongolian
That’s awesome! It’s a beautiful place
@@PatrickSheaAviation Yeah i miss so much my country 🇲🇳

Excitingly enough, MIAT now uses their brand new 787s on those routes most of the time! So you may get the larger and newer aircraft
Becoming a big fan of your channel; great videos and reports!
Thank you!
thank you great video. Flying to FRA and UBN from NY , in the Fall of 2023.
Enjoy your flight!
I Have Not Try Out MIAT Yet.And Its Many Years Since I Was Aborad B767.Great Work
Thank you! I do enjoy the 767. Always feels like stepping back in time a bit!
Great as always. Good music, and better content than most other similar channels. And voice ❤
Thank you!!

Ha! I love it! I didn’t even think about it like that
The old airport was by the mountain so they only had one runway for takeoff and landing. That caused many weather related delays. Ulaanbaatar is surrounded by mountains so they built the new airport further away from the city.
Makes a ton of sense. Thanks!
Nice music what's the name of the song and is that a free use song?
I don’t remember the name of the song but I get all my music from Epidemic Sound
I've flown SEL HKG many times
they’re probably gonna replace the 767 with a second 787-9. Their first one’s going to be used for expansion to San Francisco.
I saw that shortly after posting. That’s my new goal to find that flight and get on board
Great aerials of Mongolia and Russia. Stark yet beautiful landscapes.
Totally! It was awesome to see it from above, since I’m not sure when I’ll be able to ever see Russia’s landscape from the ground, considering I am a US citizen.
The experience looks old school, but charming nonetheless. Great trip report!
Totally! They are proof that just because something is aging, doesn’t mean it can’t still be a good product!
I can't tell who operates that lone white A330 on the tarmac in Ulaanbaatar. Also, did anyone catch the owner of the 757 in front of the hanger seen on takeoff?
I just noticed the 757 when you were going thru their inflight magazine. It's their cargo jet. Now for the A330...
That A330 is being wet leased by MIAT now I believe. It was just recently acquired at the time so it was probably going through it’s checks and branding
It’s the Eznis Airways which is the first budget airliner that has started its operation!
how long can you stay at the business lounge and what are the opening hours?
Unfortunately I’m not sure, but you could probably call and find out. I got there 4 hours before departure and had no problems though
Oh shit, is that Ulaanbatoor under the fog looking thing there, right under the end of the wing, at 16:50?

Wow, an hour & a half to get your bag upon your arrival at Frankfurt!?!?! Am surprised that everyone didn't start a riot 😂
There was no one to riot for…. Couldn’t even find airport personnel. Our crew even went off on a mission to find someone with no luck 🤷♂️
The old airport was much closer to the city, but it had reached its capacity and there was no room for expansion because of the terrain it was built on. Good to know!
Mongolia has best pilots ever.
they have a 787-9 on order.
Yep! Plans to bring it to SFO so I’m hoping to get on that when it shows up if that ends up happening
The airport wasmade for the new 787-9 wich they are waiting for but idk why they moved the airport . My dad is a captain in the miat 767 300
That’s awesome! It sounds like they moved it in order to be a little further from the terrain that was limiting to IFR approaches. I am excited to try their 787-9, if they do ever bring it to San Francisco as they were planning

I agree. I do look forward to the introduction of the 787s however, and seeing if they introduce USA flights
@@PatrickSheaAviation Yes they will. Not to mention the B787 will also offer lower maintenance costs than the current B767.
Sea buckthorn 😂😂😂.. Great video. Did you stay in Mongolia ? I always wonder when you airplane reviewing people take these flights do you stay & mingle in those countries ?
I did spend a little bit of time. Although I would love to go back and spend more time (when it’s not -20°)
So many Korean brand snacks in that lounge. 😂
Im assuming they have a partnership with them to help get snacks. Considering the airport was built with financial help from the Japanese, it wouldn’t surprise me to see more connections with nearby countries
It's ex OZ fleet
Enjoyed watching this review. The most disappointing thing I noticed seemed to be the food service, it didn't look great.
It was a hit underwhelming, but still wasn’t too bad for an airline that only has this one long haul flight
Am I the only one or Their logo looks so much like lufthansa
I see no resemblance
"L'Occitane" = "Lox-i-tan" ;-)
Looks like you got the shoe leather meat that Mikey Chen got too
Again, the horrible extra speed in take off and landings!
I don’t think I would spend my money on this Soviet style Arline ! Only my opinion 😊
whats so soviet about that?
