They do make the perfect Reaction Odd Couple channel. It's a little over the top at times (that's just my taste) but when it's good (like this) it's the best M/F combo on the Tube.

Teddy Ruxpin was more than just a teddy bear. It had a tape deck in the back, and it was designed to read you stories (or play NWA albums if you were me).
Oh yeah. The Carson interview was actually Emmanuel Lewis. His response to "I thought you were going to be taller" was "Yeah, me too."
How'd you get it to play NWA albums??
@@Zack_410 It was a literal cassette deck. There was extra data magnetically encoded to allow lip sync with the stories, so you didn't get that feature with gangsta rap, sadly.

34:13 Seth asking Neil if the stars in the sky are correct was probably because Neil complained to James Cameron that the stars in the sky were wrong in Titanic.
I'm pretty sure Cameron went back and fixed the stars for a DVD release.

Tyson mentions this in one of his appearances on the JRE podcast. First time, Cameron said it was a time issue and he wasn't directly overseeing that part. Second time, saying it didn't really matter. Then third time, someone working on the special edition called Tyson and said Cameron instructed them to ask him for the correct sky.
Tyson was also asked for a quick explanation of the big bang over lunch with MacFarlane. He later found out he was credited as a scientific consultant on an episode of Family Guy.
I like when people care about details that much.

Fun and useless fact...They filmed the Norah Jones concert scene at The Hatch Shell in Boston and me and a couple of friends were audience extras, way in the back. We were there for 8 hours. The band would come out and play music in between takes and set up and Seth McFarlane would also have raffles of different prizes. Near the end of the night they raffled off a big screen TV and I think some guys from the Patriots or the Bruins came out to present it to the winner. It was a fun day. We left around 11pm and the PA's were giving away what was left of catering. We ended up with a platter of sandwiches and a couple of pizzas.
That makes sense because the guy who got domed by the mic stand was former Boston Bruin Shawn Thornton
If you go on to do Ted 2, make sure you see the extended cut. There's a lot of extra jokes and the Knight Rider scene alone is worth it.
Ted's ringtone is the theme from Knight Rider.

The scene with them cleaning the turd from the floor is one of the funniest scenes in movie history in my opinion. I don't know why it tickled my funny bone so good, but it just did! First time i saw this movie I legit almost passed out because i wasn't breathing because i was too busy laughing 🤣

Bro the part where he swings the lamp and the chord gets caught on the ceiling fan gets me every time, I have no idea why but the way the lamp helicopters into his face looks hilarious
When Ted says about his drug dealer, “I’ve known this guy since 9/11” that was true of Seth McFarlane and Mark Walberg, they were both supposed to be on one of the hijacked flights but both missed the flight and they were stuck in the airport together when the later flights were canceled.

Just to clarify, Mark Walberg changed his plans a little in advance of 9/11. He was going to the hijacked plane but decided a few days before the flight to go up to Toronto. Seth McFarland was supposed to be on the flight but he was out partying the night before and when it was time to get up to go to the airport to catch flight 11 on 9/11, he was to hung over to try to catch the plane so he decided to wait one more day. Close call for Seth.
And Mark has said that if he was on the plane, that he could have stopped the attack.
The kid from American Pie was supposed to be on one of the planes too.

Teddy Ruxpin was this electronic teddy bear in the 1980's with a moving mouth, and cassette tapes you could put in his back, of children's stories he would then narrate. Pretty sure he had a short lived tie in cartoon as well.
I think it's funny how much longer the tie-in merch for the cartoon lasted, when compared to the actual bear.

Emmanuel Lewis was a child actor on the show Webster and has a form of dwarfism which causes him to still look very much like a child even though he is currently 53.
That's why he said "Me too" (he'd thought he'd be taller too.) :D
His bit in Dickie Roberts was so damned funny.
How much charisma does Seth have? This was literally the first movie outside of the Bond franchise that the Broccolis allowed to use a song from a Bond film.

Watch Ted 2, definetly. Different, but great, too. And watch _A million ways to die in the west,_ also by (& with) Seth MacFarlane. Also: Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Giovanni Ribisi and Sarah Silverman in hilarious roles.

Emanuel Lewis was indeed a child actor. He was a bit like Gary Coleman, in that he was older than he looked & he was always small in stature. He was in a show called "Webster". He lived in a special house, that had secret passages & furniture that was designed around his size. Teddy Ruxpin wasn't just a teddy bear. He was a small animatronic bear, that had a built-in cassette player. When there was speaking on the cassette, his mouth was designed to move along with the voice on the recording. I think there was the ability to network him with other toys, because there were commercials with Teddy singing with other animatronic plushies - each singing their own part. I think the cassettes actually had embedded control signals, that controlled Teddy & his accessories. It was a bit like a Showbiz Pizza in a box.
I am glad you guys got to see this one, and I'm glad you both enjoyed it. It's an experience, and hard to describe. I am about to head to your Ted 2 reaction. I am sure it will be a great time. Some things aren't as crazy, and some parts are even crazier. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I think it's a tad less raunchy, but maybe more gross. There's plenty of action and suspense. The antagonist was well done. The managed to create a creepy Silence of the Lambs-ish type of vibe. He was definitely not harmless, but he was harmful mostly to teddy bears and traffic. Heading to T2 now.
The TV show for Ted is actually great. A lot better than I thought it would've been

I haven't seen it yet, but I was encouraged that it was good when I saw some clips and saw that it was true to the movies, and not the Usual sanitized for tv version. There are so many tv adaptions of movies that lose the theme of the movie, even when they are made by the same people. And especially with it doing 'the younger years', I really expected it to be a kids version.
Yep, apart from ep6 it was a riot! I love the mother in the series, she is absolutely hilarious.
I like it but no way that goofy looking kid grows up to look like Mark Wahlberg.

McFarlane is a big science nerd and fan of the old Cosmos show that used to be on PBS (?) with Carl Sagan. He met Neil deGrasse Tyson in 2008 and spent years trying to get a new version of Cosmos on the air. He used his clout with FOX to make this happen in 2014, and it was hosted by NGT. So the two were already friends when this movie came out, explaining how he could easily contact him for "the proper star-map in the scenes set in the past.
Also, NGT famously pointed out that the stars seen in James Cameron's Titanic were wrong for that date. I think Cameron corrected them when he did a special edition of the film years later.
Well done. I was in a good mood after watching this fun reaction and you bring up NGT and now I am sick to my stomach. Way to ruin a nice day with that horrible pile of trash. On the bright side you are banned for the rest of my life so that's an up side.
Ok, you two need to see the 1980 Flash Gordon movie. It's just awesome, high budget camp. At least watch it for the costumes.
Teddy Ruxpin is an animatronic children's toy that came out 1985 and was the best seller toy in that year. It had a cassette tape player in the back of it and would read Teddy Ruxpin Stories to children.

Never saw Ted 2 but the series is my favorite part of the Tedverse. It was awesome and right up your alley
Emmanuel Lewis was a child actor that starred in a very popular 80s sitcom called "Webster". I'm not really sure what his medical situation is, but basically, he was this super cute tiny kid, but then never really physically matured much beyond that. I mean he put on some weight, and maybe grew a little with age, but he never really grew to be the size of an average adult, and still has basically the same baby face, but he doesn't seem to have the features usually associated with little people or anything, so I don't know. Was a very talented child actor, and generally appears to be a real good dude.
He has pituitary dwarfism, and is to this day 3 ft 6 in tall. (6 inches taller than he was when he played Webster)
Must see Ted 2 guys and soon. Just as good as this one.

I didn’t see it commented yet so…. The scene where the kidnapper is dancing, he’s dancing to a Tiffany music video. Tiffany, infamously had a stalker/obsessed fan, which is the reference/joke. Fortunately the fan’s obsession didn’t lead to any harm, which is probably why it’s a joke, and not a super dark reference haha
Also, it’s pretty meta but I think I’m right: MacFarlane asking Neil Degrasse Tyson about the appropriate star placement is a reference to Tyson “criticizing” James Cameron’s slightly incorrect “skybox” in Titanic.
Please put "They Came Together" (2014) on your poll. Starring Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd. Directed by David Wain. I thought of it when Norah Jones pops up here in Ted, because she has a very funny cameo in that movie. It's the best romcom parody of all time.
The miniature golf place with the big orange dinosaur...that was an actual place. My grandfather used to take me there when I was a little kid. It was in Saugus, MA. I miss him. Wish he was still around.
The blonde cashier that Ted hooks up with...my ex could have played her. She wouldnt have even had to act lol. Everything was spot on, right down to the, "I gave birth, I could kick your ass" part.

BTW: Teddy Ruxpin was a high tech(for it's time) talking teddy bear that was the hottest toy the Christmas that it came out in the 1980s. It was like the Cabbage Patch craze. Every little kid wanted it.
The best part of this reaction was watching the facial expressions on both your faces. Hilarious!!! I fell on the ground laughing when I saw this the first (and second) time.

Giovanni Ribisi is a criminally underrated actor. He also played Nic Cage's younger brother in Gone in 60 Seconds.
MacFarlane is a big science nerd. He first met with deGrasse Tyson to consult on an episode of Family Guy (of all things). MacFarlane and deGrasse Tyson would team up in 2014 on a revival of the science doc Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. MacFarlane, as an executive producer, made a large financial investment to bring the show to life, with deGrasse Tyson as the host. Both men were hugely influenced by the original 1980 Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, written and hosted by Carl Segan. While science docs probably wouldn't do great on the channel, I'd highly recommend watching both in your own time. The Carl Segan series has some of the most beautiful, poetic, and powerful writing that sticks with me to this day.
I remember watching the Carl Sagan series as a 12 year old and I loved it. Bought the book, got his previous books like Dragons Of Eden.
A Teddy Ruxpin is not just a Teddy Bear. It was a talking teddy bear and I don't know if any good ones existed before it but it was one of those toys that took over christmas.

It was more than just that Emmanuel Lewis was a child actor; he also has a form of dwarfism. As a child, his condition made him look younger than he actually was, so through his teen years he portrayed a character aged 6-12. It made him seem quite precocious, which was part of his charm.

I met Sam Jones at the Texas Pinball Festival, it was awesome! He was really cool. As long as his booth wasn't too busy he would invite people to just hang out with him. He talked about being in the Ted movie and how much fun it was

I’ve met Sam Jones, it was 2 months ago at Missouri Con. I worked with the MC of the event. Sam came backstage after his panel and just chitchatted with us. I introduced him to the head of the Alamo Drafthouse here in Springfield and I think he’ll be coming back to do a screening of Flash.

Seth MacFarlane and Neil DeGrasse Tyson are kinda buddies.
Seth is the Executive Producer of Neil's series(es?) both Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey and Cosmos: Possible Worlds.
Seth is a HUGE supporter of science and critic of anti-science bullshit.
He's the one who donated the money to create the Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan Archive in the Library of Congress.
Carl Sagan was the ORIGINAL host of the original host of Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, as well as being Neil's teacher and mentor.
Ann Druyan, Carl Sagan's wife, is a creator/writer/EP of every version of Cosmos.
Neil had an asteroid named after Seth MacFarlane.
Seth asked Neil for the star advice as a joke to dunk on Titanic, because Neil pointed out the stars in Titanic were wrong, which I guess embarrassed James Cameron, because Cameron went back and fixed it on later releases. lol

I remember first watching this movie on english with subs an latter when broadcasted on cable in latinamerican dub, they really made it so hillarious. In both versions, the scene where the creepy guy asks Ted if he is alone, the answer is the same and is so hillarious I said that if someone ever asked me the same question I would answer the same way Ted answered...that was around in 2014-2015. Jump forward to around 2023, finally someone asked me exactly the same question "Are you out here all alone?" and my mind immediatly answered the same as Ted "Uh, no, no I'm not. Uh, you're never alone, when you're with Christ, so no, I'm not alone." The person who asked me immediatly told me "Ah! You've watched Ted, you are trully a man of culture" and we laugh so much after that.
"The Christian Science reading room" is reference to a religion founded in Boston called "The Church of Christ, Science" founded in 1879 by some lady called Marie Baker Eddy. It was based on healthy living scientifically and the Bible which was contained in a book written by Eddy.
There's a Ted 2 as well.
The guy that plays the villain dad is an awesome actor called Giovanni Ribisi who has been acting since the 80's, but his role of Ralph Mariano in "My Name is Earl" just set him up for the big time I think. He was the villain in the movie Avatar. He's character Ralph on My Name is Earl along with Joy and Crab-man just made the whole show.
My name is Earl had lot of memorable roles and was such a great TV show, and such a pity it was cancelled. I got that show on DVD and I've watched it over and over it as its that great.
Yep, the Christian science plaza in Boston is stunning. I love that area on Mass ave.
Other than the mention, another connection Emanuel Lewis has to the movie is they used Tonight Show footage of his appearance to get the eye line right when they CGI'd Ted in.
