There was an interview with the director where he says that yes they really did wax steve carells chest and the woman that did the waxing lied about being a professional waxer to get the part haha😂
Because she didn't use lubrication when doing the nipple part, someone from behind-the-scenes who just happened to know better jumped in to stop the scene from resuming. Because there was no lubrication on his nipple, she more than likely would have torn it off. Ouch.
Another fun fact about that scene is that Romany Malco left the room, because he couldn't stand the sight of what was going on. Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen stayed around though, laughing. It was 100% real and completely unscripted. All of Steve Carell's lines were just what he said at the time. And they were supposed to wax the entire thing, but when Steve Carell gets up at the end and says he's done, he was legitimately saying he was done with the scene and wouldn't do it anymore.
The scene in Superbad where Seth figures out that he has period blood stained on his pants is a close contender for George's top hysterical laughter moment, but this one might have been even better 🤣
It’s hard to realize if you’re just watching this movie now how much of a game changer it was and how much it completely reshaped the comedy movie landscape.
I feel like the whole Apatow extended family are probably the easiest group of actors to just get together and let them be naturally funny together. Like the scripts would only be 5 pages of plot with no dialogue, and the rest would just happen.
I didn't think their was anyway Simone could answer George's questioning about female waxing procedures without it being awkward, but she pulled out the greatest line ever. That deserves a golf clap, well done.
Right? He actually laughed so hard he squeaked, kind of like Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting. I could not stop laughing at that, I rewound it so many times because of how hilarious it was. I even thought about commenting, Mean Girls style, "…and that's how George died, as he lived, laughing."
To answer George's question, I attended a speed dating event in 2008, on Valentine's Day of all days. It was pretty fun. The last woman I met was really interesting, and we dated for quite some time. We've been married for even longer.
Speed dating had a golden period in the 2000s when lots of cool attractive people did it. Then it became a nightmare, kind of like every other dating tool.

They hired a professional waxer to do it, only to find out way, waaay too late that she lied to get the part and didn't think she would have to actually wax someone for real. When Steve Carell goes tearing after Trish on his bike, the music playing over the scene is "Heat of the Moment" by Asia, the band whose poster was on his apartment wall. From the director's commentary the music was originally going to be "Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS, but they changed it because they felt the Asia song fit better with what Andy would've had playing in his own head while chasing after the woman of his dreams. One of my favorite gags in the entire movie.

During the overnight portion in the hotel in Tokyo, I didn’t see any of the guys from Asia but the next day continuing to London they told me they got to go to the Korg keyboard factory and check out new instruments.
BTW the ending which divides some people's overall opinion of the movie was a suggestion from comic genius Garry Shandling to Judd Apatow when they couldn't figure out what Andy would do when he finally had sex. But all Garry said was "I dunno, maybe he sings?" and then they just went off into space with it

Waxing anything is just like waxing anything else. Stings the first couple of times and then stops bothering you for the most part. I love this movie, Judd Apatow did a really great job of mixing crude humor with heartfelt sentiment. Another great one he made is Knocked Up, if you liked this movie then I highly recommend Knocked Up.
Yeah, I brought up "Best in Show" after your "American Pie" reaction, but now seeing Jane Lynch in this film, who also stars in BIS with Jennifer Coolidge is just a sign from God that you really have to watch it. You don't want to make God mad, now DO YOU??
I'm pretty hairy. I tried to self wax my shoulders once which was a disaster, I also shaved my legs which made the rest of my body look absurd. Now I'm just hairy and I'm fine with it.
It's a really touching film at heart, although its crudeness can sometimes mask that. It works though. I don't recall seeing a film do it to this extent and as successfully.
There were a lot of 70's & 80's references in the movie. At 11:30 he was watching the 2004 remake of the George Romero 1978 classic zombie movie, Dawn of the Dead. At 24:47, Jack Palance was a famous actor. He played a lot of bad guys in films. He went on to receive the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for City Slickers (1991), starring Billy Crystal to name a few. At 26:44, the doll he said could stay, he called Steve Austin, which was the name of the title character in the 70's series the "The Six Million Dollar Man" starring Lee Majors. It's about a test pilot that crashes and loses limbs and an eye and is given bionic prosthetics giving him strength and speed(in short he's a Cyborg). A lot of kids had "The Six Million Dollar Man doll back in the days. At 26:03, the song that is playing is the theme song from the 80's TV show "The Greatest American Hero." Song is called "Believe it or Not" which also did well on the music charts. The TV series was about a high school teacher that is granted a suit from aliens that gives him special abilities(flight, super strength, and more.) The twist was,..he loses the instruction manual on how to operate the suit, so it's trial and error, as he tries to stop crime, after teaming up with an FBI agent who knows his secret. Yep, a lot of references in the 40 yr. Old Virgin. 👍
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is another really good Steve Carell film. I think you guys would appreciate it :) Also the film Tag with Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, and Jeremy Renner!
I'm not sure if it's an abstinence movie in disguise, but I do think the main message is to always be truthful to those you love. Every character who lies about something to their partner or prospective partner gets nothing and everyone who gets it on is telling the truth.
It shows both sides of it I think. Andy is very lonely without any human connection but the guys cheat on their girlfriend, obsess over an ex and lead an empty life of debauchery. I like that by the end it's not just Andy who changes. They stop cheating, stop obsessing over their ex and Seth at least finds a partner instead of going to horse fucking shows. It's like yeah no sex is no fun but going too far the other way leads to a different kind of emptiness.

Y’all killing it with these thumbnails 😂
I love this movie, Judd Apatow did a really great job of mixing crude humor with heartfelt sentiment. Another great one he made is Knocked Up, if you liked this movie then I highly recommend Knocked Up.
I watch probably 10 reaction channels. You guys are my favorite. Your chemistry is perfect.
There’s something about the emotional reaction movies that I like. But when you both laugh hysterically it cracks me up.
Great reaction. The movie itself is funny, but George laughs in the right moments added something... 😂😂😂
The end was a parody of the musical/movie "Hair" from the 70s.
This is Steve Carell's best movie
Yeah, I brought up "Best in Show" after your "American Pie" reaction, but now seeing Jane Lynch in this film, who also stars in BIS with Jennifer Coolidge is just a sign from God that you really have to watch it. You don't want to make God mad, now DO YOU??
Best in Show is unbearably funny. Can't get through it without laughing hysterically.
I love Best in Show.
Fred Willard nearly steals the whole movie. RIP
Yes!! Best in Show Waiting for Guffman, and A Mighty Wind! I’ve been waiting for at least one reactor to react to one of these movies….
YES!!! They need to watch Best in Show!!!! HILARIOUS
@@adriancastillo1957 Waiting for Guffman is SO funny!!
22:12 I've never seen George chuckle this much before - he almost wet himself laughing!
this one always reminds me of 'grandmas boy'
I'm pretty hairy. I tried to self wax my shoulders once which was a disaster, I also shaved my legs which made the rest of my body look absurd. Now I'm just hairy and I'm fine with it.
@@-M0LE true dat.
Not to be vulgar but I've have found more then a few over the years.
Wow! That was my favorite reaction of yours so far! I've never heard you two laugh so hard or so much!
I haven’t seen this movie in years and I forgot how funny it was. But George’s reaction really makes this video!
Old Virgin. 👍
OMG ! This was flawless !
22:11 we might have a new record for breaking George with laughter
Y'all are the reason I love discovering a new to me reaction channel. I have watched like ten videos in a row!
Jonah Hill got heat stroke in the dance scene at the end. Wearing a heavy Mexican pancho. Great movie!
LOL Simones face when Andy says "bag of sand"😂😂
Ooh, Simone with the burn right out of the gate.
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is another really good Steve Carell film. I think you guys would appreciate it :) Also the film Tag with Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, and Jeremy Renner!
Such a beautiful movie. Underrated, & another reason not to take critics seriously
You never have to touch yourself, your body will take care of itself in your sleep..... the thing I miss most from childhood.
Speaking of Battlestar Galactica, ya'll should watch it.
I would possibly die of happiness if they did watch BSG.
I don't know if I've ever seen George laugh so hard! 🤣🤣🤣
I keep rewatching this reaction. Why? What the hell is wrong with me? I guess you two are just that good ❤️
He does the U Can't Touch This slide at the end as a nod to the fact that he played MC Hammer in The MC Hammer Story
"tidy up before the maid comes" is the funniest thing Simone's ever said 😁
Please do another Steve Carell movie like "Crazy, stupid, love". Think you guys would really enjoy that one.
Every time I get to the end of this movie I have to put on my Hair soundtrack or that earworm will last for days. Lol
I do not think I have ever seen you guys laugh so so much, I love your reaction, was awesome & funny!
1:30 at 0,25x Simone's reaction = GOLD haha love you guys
I love the scene where he has to cover for his friends speed dating cars. Bitch is run in’ wild man.
She was a ho....for sho.
13:08 You use electric clippers without a guard then use shaving cream and a blade. Be sure to have plenty of quality aftershave lotion.
