My friend Robbie got bit by a rattlesnake on that trail 2 years ago. He almost didnt make it. I seen on the video the spot where it happened. You guys need to be safe out there
Thanks for sharing . I'm planning a trip from Scottsdale to Roosevelt dam. 4Runner should be OK. AZDOT said Apache Lake Marina to SR188 still under contraction for paving.
Its pretty narrow in some spots, but there are plenty of wider spots too. If you look at about 11:10 I see a vehicle coming down so I pulled over in one of the wider spots so he could pass.
I drove this yesterday. I kept thinking how we drive that road for fun but in some countries roads like that are the only options and get tons of traffic.
Hey mate, from where the trooper is (or the porta potties), how long is the deive to Roosevelt dam? We did stopped by Roosevelt dam last year but the apache trail was closed I'm from Houston Texas and would love to go back again. TIA.
I can't believe it's been shut down for 5 years. And I couldn't fix all the stuff that was wrong with it like taking a Blade and grating it. But I love how you entered through the gate and it's a highway patrol officer sitting there.I've never seen a highway show officer on that road
Yes, at the bridge on the bottom people will oftn hike into the creek. There is also a cav e up on the hill down there I have seen people climb up to as well. The drive from the overlook to the bottom, maybe a mile?
I saw on the news that they supposedly recommend a “High Clearance 4x4” vehicle for some sections. Was this true at all? Anything I should look out for in a Subaru Crosstrek? Thanks!
at the time I recorded this on 9/20 it was just a smooth dirt road. I'm sure over time it will get more bumpy as it weathers, I did it in 2wd no issues.
Definitely the first video I have seen on this. Looks like you could drive it in a Cadillac now.
It is an awesome Trail thanks for posting.🚗
Its pretty smooth, I'm sure over time it will get broken in.
Good seeing you out there today Craig!
Same, nice to meet you. Was a good day to be out on the trail.

should be easy going and yes they are paving that part at the other end.
The road doesn't look wide enough for two vehicles to pass... would one have to back up to a wider spot to let the other pass?

That is true, crazy to think about things.

From what I've heard from others they are keeping an eye on it to keep trailers off. There was one at the other end too when I was turning around.
Where can you hike down in to creek bed? At bridge? How far is that from the overlook? Thanks!

great video thanks for sharing. i think we’ll be ok in a stock gx470
at the time I recorded this on 9/20 it was just a smooth dirt road. It may change over time, but yeah should be just fine.

Can you ride a quad or sidexside there?
Yes, you just need to park your trail before going through the gate at the top of the hill.
