    Brian Lee Durfee is criminally underrated. He only has the warrior angel trilogy, but its SUCH a great series!! Personally; I think more people need to be talking about David Estes. His fatemarked series, and Kingfall series are phenomenal.

    I also discovered Abercrombie and Hobb this year. I have only 2 books to go to finish The Realm of the Elderlings. I read the Servant of the Empire a couple of months ago and absolutely loved it. I'm planning on finishing that trilogy soon. 💜

    Just picked up curse of the mistwraith, and I'm so excited now. I'm a few books into Malazan and suneater and love them, so your description has me ecstatic for janny.
    Hobb is a master, and Fonda Lee and Ken Liu were my other favorites from this year.

    I am miffed that I put down Going Postal by Terry Pratchett the last time I went book shopping now... Super pumped to get to Joe Abercrombie, more Hobb and Christopher Ruocchio next year 🙌

    I discovered many new fantasy books even Abercrombie and Hobb, many indie and SPFs because I want to try different types of books , work and next year I will continue the series which I started this year and also I know I will discover new authors. 😊

    Rangers Apprentice is awesome!
    One of my favorite series as a child and can absolutely be read by adults looking for a nice easy read.

    I hope you love Empire. The audio books are great too, trying those for re read 4.
    Have to say I can be a bit of a snob at times, if fantasy book tubers have not read Hobb, Wurts, GRRM and Rothfuss I do find it hard to take their top 10s seriously 😊
    I can’t read physical books, haven’t been able to all year, it’s driving me nuts, but have discovered some great audio books.
    You’ve had an amazing year !

    Joe Abercrombie's age of madness trilogy is amazing. Only read them this year and they're def my top reads of the year.

    You really need to read “sons of the black sword” by Larry Correia. It’s an amazing series so far. 4 of 5 released. Unique magic system, corrupt political system. Hero with humble beginnings. I’ve devoured all four of them and can’t wait for the fifth. I accidentally purchased two copies of the first book though so if you want one let me know and I can send it to you.

    I haven't read beyond Empire of Silence but sounds like Ruocchio drew a lot from Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun... another one of my favourite SF series.

      @SpacedOutReads it's Wild. Unlike anything I've ever read. A lot of people try to lump it in with Malazan, they're not that similar at all.

      @@SpacedOutReads its understandable but puts an unfair expectation and add more gatekeeping to those series. Personally I got more out of Malazan because that was the more emotional journey of the too as BotNS was more intellectual and wild.

      @ I have very high expectations for The Heroes, I found BSC to be a good step up from the first trilogy and everyone says The Heroes is better.

    You had to leave Memories of Ice in the middle? It's a really great book, one of the most epic fantasy stories. Hope you get to start it soon and don't forget a lot of it.

      @@Codyleitner Hey man, Red Rising comes first to mind, though I want to give the warning that book 1 isn’t as good as the rest of the series. Even then it reads fast and is filled with action.
      The Bound and the Broken is a mix of Eragon and The Faithful and the Fallen is you want some classic fantasy written in a modern way.
      And if you just want to have a ton of fun, I highly recommend Dungeon Crawler Carl!

    Yeah... I'd never recommend doing Malazan and Wars of Light & Shadow at once. At least not on a first read of both.

    can you recommend some epic fantasy series with good romance subplots? even if its like 10-20% of the story, doesnt have to be a central theme, just there and good

      @@overchipz I’m not the most well read at Romance, but the relationship in Sun Eater is pretty cool. The ones in The Faithful and the Fallen are nice, but very in the side. Ummm actually, The Gael Song Saga has some great romance, that was a great trilogy right until the end of book 3
