He abused the power of the court, He violated that young girl's rights, he's likely broken that girl's trust in the system, And I think there needs to be LEGAL repercussions, not just a slap on the wrist.

Learn what contempt of court is technically she is a criminal she was going to be held for contempt of court. The new station left that fact out. Once again educate yourself and learn what contempt of court is basically it's just disrespecting the court and it's up to the judge to say what is being or how you were being disrespectful to his court and that is by law. You mean to tell me that he wanted to mentor the teenager after publicly humiliating, and traumatizing her so he can continue to be abusive to her! He has lost his mind. Sensitivity training doesn’t fix that. He deserves to never have authority over someone else again.

I'm watching this mother and I am actually crying along with her. He is no more qualified to be around young girls than Charles Manson.
I am really shocked and disappointed in Judge Kenneth King's behavior. Instead of making an inquiry as to why the student was sleepy, he "assumed" she was being disrespectful. This brings me back to my youth when a classmate of mine would often fall asleep in class. He told me he was tired because he and his siblings would go to the bus stop which was several blocks away from his home at 1:00 am every night to walk his mom home. She was a single mother with a low paying job, no car and worked until midnight to provide for her family. When the neighbors found out, they all pooled their money together and purchased her a used car. Perhaps the Judge should spend a little time in a jail cell to reflect on his insensitive and pompous nature.
Sometimes when people are successful in their careers, financially, in business, or in their education endeavors, they become arrogant and full of pride. They think that they are better than those less fortunate. Removing the judge was and is appropriate. He should not be put in power or appointed as a "judge" again.
Or maybe the mother in this story and the mother you're talking about should have never had kids in the first place. Why do you and other people think that having a child is a game. Guess what bringing life into this world is not a game it's serious business and should be treated seriously

How about the mom who sent her kid on a field trip to court when she can't stay awake? She wasn't sent there to sleep.
The teen would refuse his mentorship, too, and rightly so. Jail isn't the way to mentor people. And, for falling asleep? It's a field trip. This wasn't a trial. Even during an actual trial, for falling asleep? He just wanted to put someone in jail, and she was the easy target. Not everyone should have power.
The judge should be put in handcuffs and prison clothes.... This was a summer program for learning. This child's situation and taking a nap doesn't warrant this judge to treat this child as a violent criminal... Not only should he be removed, but all of his past rulings need to be analyzed to see what other injustices were committed by this unhinged judge.
When you go into a court of law, whether you are a defendant or a spectator, you are expected to show proper respect at all times. That was a LARGE part of the point for this field trip the girl was on. If you don't understand that you are as much a part of the problem as this girls mother is.

You should learn what contempt of court is You're so dumb you probably don't even know that is against the law. And dummy a judge can put you in jail for contempt of court even if you are not a plaintiff if you're just in a courtroom that is open to the public and you do something that the judge declares as disrespecting the court you can go to jail for that but you're not smart enough to understand that. This girl could have very easily legally been put in juvenile detention. Yes she fell asleep and the judge woke her up and said young lady don't disrespect my courtroom like that Don't ever fall to sleep again in my courtroom if you're tired walk out of my courtroom and go to sleep on one of the benches in the hallway. And that young lady chose to stay in the courtroom and when the judge gave her the chance of not being put in jail for contempt of court she should have listened and done whatever it took to not fall asleep or disrespect that courtroom again. Nobody was forcing her to stay in the courtroom if she was so tired that no matter what she could not stay up she could have freely chosen to get up walk out of the courtroom and sleep on the bench in the hallway and she would not have gotten in any kind of trouble then. And this judge really did nothing to her have you ever even been to jail if you think making this girl going to a restroom by herself and change clothes is a bad horrible thing you're just weak. Because if she had to do that in jail they don't let you change your clothes in a restroom by yourself they tell you in front of around say 50 to 100 other inmates to get naked bend over spread your cheeks and cough in front of everybody. So this judge was quite lenient to this young lady he could have easily made her go through that situation. God forbid this judge try to teach this young lady response ability and to be afraid of breaking the law. If anyone screwed this young lady's life up it was her mother for not having this girl's father a part of her life.

Yeeeeah, you may want to go back and watch his many, MANY dockets. He livestreams everyday (or did) and deals with bullshit defendants day after day after day. He is a very good judge who made a dumbass mistake. This would be no different if Judge Simpson (MI) or Judge Stevens (TX) pushed too far. Good judges eff up from time to time. They’re human. I’m serious about watching Judge King’s daily dockets. He is good, fair and reasonable. Should he have done this? Hell no. Did he mess up? Sure did. Does that make him a bad judge? Nope.

When a judge tells you don't fall asleep in my courtroom or I will hold you and contempt of court for disrespecting my courtroom the first time she fell asleep she should have done whatever she needed to do to not fall asleep again.
