Perfect phone for me. Plastic back - great. Big battery - great. Flat screen - best feature. Just what I have been looking for. Good price too. Smaller form factor than my s9plus so easier to hold. What’s not to like.
High quality is better than glossy glass. other reviews have said that the FE's plastic is pretty good, so I think that the plastic is a big win for the FE.
I wouldn't go from a glass backed phone to plastic if I can avoid it. Sorry but once in a while I like to pull phone phone out of it's case and give it a good kiss on the back
This is exactly why I don't understand why people are complaining about the absence of a glass back on the Note 20. Don't get me wrong when I buy an expensive product I expect premium materials but wouldn't you want your ultra expensive phone to be better protected against drops right off the bat? Plastic is an objectively better material when it comes to shatter resistance, it's gonna be in a case anyway.

The telephoto camera of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE should be superior to the S20 / S20+: Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ does not have a real telephoto camera. According to notebookcheck it has a zoom factor of only 1.06x, while the S20 FE has a zoom factor of about 3.0x. The S20 has a telephoto camera with 64 MP, an f/2.0 aperture and a sensor size of 1/1.72-inch. The S20 FE has a telephoto camera with 8 MP, an f/2.0 aperture and a sensor size of ~1/4.5-inch. So if I use the S20 / S20+ in 3x zoom (i.e. cropping into the sensor), there should be 1/9 of the original sensor size and pixels left (a bit more because of the small real zoom factor). So you end up at 64 / 9 = 7.11 MP with a sensor size of 1/16.0-inch. In conclusion, the S20 FE should have significantly less noise starting at a 3x zoom than the S20 / S20+.
I got the 4g version, I live in Adelaide so extra money for 5g is a waste, and I am really loving this phone. I had the Huawei Mate 10 so this is quite a step up. 120hz screen is really a big difference, and although it doesn’t have the Snapdragon it still feels very fast to me and battery life so far has been really good.
@@mikechrist9699 after having used it for six months now, I can confidently say that the battery life is an issue with this version. Also, it does get pretty warm with heavy usage. I wouldn't recommend it for heavy gaming.
@@astralinfinite9995 I haven't done an all out scientific test or anything. I normally watch a lot of TH-cam, listen to a lot of podcasts and browse internet. With constant use, I'd guess four to five hours will about kill it. Samsung recently started putting the Snapdragon in the 4g version as well as the 5g version, so that might help.
I ordered the Cloud Navy. In Australia all the S20 lineup is exynos, older phones don’t drop in price with time for some reason. Also in Australia if you preorder the FE they take a 150$ Aussie off and give you free galaxy buds live. Sweet deal

If I were you I'll just wait for the S21 that will presumably launch around March next year (6 months, it's not that much) and go for it, as the new Exynos seems to be performing better than the new SN.

In user forums (XDA, etc) the S20FE has Major Touch Ghosting on most devices. Latest SW fix updates didn't fix it. Be sure to check. No modern brand phone has this issue but somehow Samsung managed it on an S20. THIS is major.
I have this phone and it's amazing, but if you're paying full price for it I would recommend the A51 or the A71 over it. I didn't pay full price for it and it's worth every penny of what I paid for it (200 dollars). It's not worth 700 dollars though.
@@lifeventure10 I had the 3a and I didn't like it because I don't like stock android. The 4a has a better camera than the A71 but I would pick the A71 if I were to choose between those two phones. I'm probably in the minority here, but I actually like One UI and I think it's a better OS than stock overall.
Nice addition with the new camera! Personally I, if I haven’t ditched Samsung for good, because of Exynos already. I would have bought the FE only, in an Exynos region ,this is the only way to get a snapdragon version. So I’d say ,this is the only Samsung phone with any value in our region from this year. Sadly,they are once again a whole year behind Apple ,so I just switched and not planning to go back.
I havent heard anyone mention trade-ins. They value an S9 at 300 USD, so I paid about 420 including taxes. I have to believe many other people are in the same situation. $70 in store credit is a nice bonus too.
Trading in my S8+ for a decent bit from Best Buy. They’re also knocking $250 off the phone extra since I’m activating it on my network at Best Buy. I’m paying literally a few dollars more than you and I’m trading in an older device by a year. Not too shabby for a 5G phone.
Overhead shot is great mate , i also liked the green table mat with yellow grid lines , so many reviewers/unboxers have a background for displaying tech that is horrendously terrible without giving some contrast to the devices being displayed or the background is so bright it outshines the sun . However for just a suggestion , if you wanted to step it up even a tad further , you could have the grid lines numbered across and down in inches or metric(your choice) so when you set a device down on the mat , viewers instantly can see the measurements of the device . As a techy enthusiast , i find it amazing not one unboxer reviewer gives any viewed numbered reference to the measured length/width other than what is read on the spec sheet , and that is fine( maybe i`m just too old :) ) , but it gives no visual reference to compare it too on the tv screen . I will say it was nice the way you set the phones out for comparison , but i would have slid them up a tad so the bottom of the device`s rested on the thick yellow line ( picky bastard arent i :) ) . Nice job you are doing already mate .
Yeah I just check on malaysia news website that it has snapdragon only and it has 256gb + 8gb ram. That is why it is quite expensive than the regular s20.

Nice to have the flat screen, and the Snadragon CPU. Those curved screens are a total nightmare, I don't understand why companies still do it. They break easily, almost impossible to add a screen protector, issues with accidental touches, light reflects on the sides, impossible to select screen elements/text on the edge, and with the Note series, I can't even draw/write on the curved part. Seriously, why doing it, when it only has drawbacks?
Right now, im not suprise if samsung suddenly stop using curve screen. Even their latest phone, the s20 and note 20 series, the curve is already not so curvy like it used to be.
Great reviews! Top angle looks great. Besides removing the left pole, I think you can capture more of the viewer's attention with a less cluttered background. Also I would remove the mat entirely, I think the natural wood desk looks perfect.

Great question! I can't imagine why anyone would complain about the Exynos/Glastic-backed version. If anything, color me impressed that Samsung put almost as much into this device as the standard flagship for a much lower price.
I'm buying it for 2 reasons 1. Even though you can get an S20+ for the same price used, I want dat Snapdragon. 2. I also wanna endorse Samsung using the Snapdragon in the UK. I feel like if this version sells a lot as the S10 lite did, they might finally give us at least the OPTION of the processor going forward. I'll support them if they support us.

I did mine is the 4g version though I think but I love it 🥰😍 and for the price its perfect. For me the plastic back doesn't matter much you're gonna put a case anyway. And the screen and gestures are so smooth. Not to mention an amazing camera 🥰 I recommend
I was going back and forth between this and the Pixel 5. I have a Pixel 2 XL and figured I'd give Samsung another try for the first time since having the Galaxy S3. I returned it within a few days because some core things just did not work the way I wanted them to. Autofill, Smart Lock, general shortcuts, etc just didn't work out of the box (or with a ton of messing around) how I expect them to. Anyways, returned it and I'm picking up the Pixel 5 tomorrow. Maybe that's a boring decision, but sometimes "it just works" is the most important thing.
Awesome video as always! Loving the new camera angles too 😃 I had the ultra and then went to the Oneplus 8 pro. I wish the FE was out beforehand as I probably would of gone with that one. But one major issue with Samsung now for me is the irritating Bixby integration and the abundance of duplicate apps and crapware! Get rid of that and I could be persuaded back.
The setup looks clean but one note though, maybe move the pole to a place where it isn't visible when you're on the front/face camera or whatever lol. That way it'll look even cleaner whenever you want to have your face in the shot and the pole won't mess with the background or anything
Just bought an orange S20 FE 5G! The trade-in promos and bundled pre-order goodies were too good to pass up. The phone is $350 as trading in my cracked S10 gets me $350 back, but the bundled $70 Samsung Store gift card (I used it on the Galaxy Buds Live, cutting them to $65) and bundled Spotify Premium and TH-cam Premium subscriptions combine to slash the effective price to $180. So I'm basically paying $245 for everything I mentioned, which is actually less money than the $250 it costs to replace the screen on a S10!
Well, it's on pre-order in the US for $599.I think that is a great deal which is hard to beat! Of course only 5G with the snapdragon 865 sold here. Samsung should make this price permanent to have monster sales in the US and worldwide!
I really liked the top down view. I think it was a bit blurry at first compared to the straight on shot of you but only in the first shot. Great video. I'm feeling a lot more comfortable about making the FE my next phone.
I would consider the S20 FE in a few months time, when the price will drop. Here in the UK, the Snapdragon means better performance and battery life, plus 5g future proofing. As Tom mentioned, no pointless macro and depth sensor cameras, plus being Snapdragon, Gcam might be ported. Best value and performance S20 in Exynos territories.
Get over it. I can't believe people are still obsessing over the headphone jack. I have an S9 and the last time I used it was a war ago trying to find the difference in sound quality on my Bluetooth headphones.

i'd reccomend to buy the S20 because if you have a flagship buy another flagship and you still have that premium feel, if you from mid range phone user then yes FE edition is reccomended, but its all up to you tho

Overhead is nice. I am getting the s20 FE in purple. Premium look isn't important to me. It doesn't have a curve which is nice plus it has the most important features. Solid battery life, bright 120 hz display and a top of the line processor to keep this going for a while.
It has flagship specs, so to lower the price, they had to do it. Plus, when I tested the Note 20 with the same material, it essentially felt like normal glass unless I really examined it. Makes it a bit more drop-resistant too.

It's actually a better deal in asia for a Samsung phone because it uses a Snapdragon processor for 5G model and not just Exynos.

Great reviews! Top angle looks great. Besides removing the left pole, I think you can capture more of the viewer's attention with a less cluttered background. Also I would remove the mat entirely, I think the natural wood desk looks perfect.

Great question! I can't imagine why anyone would complain about the Exynos/Glastic-backed version.
If anything, color me impressed that Samsung put almost as much into this device as the standard flagship for a much lower price.

I'm buying it for 2 reasons
1. Even though you can get an S20+ for the same price used, I want dat Snapdragon.
2. I also wanna endorse Samsung using the Snapdragon in the UK. I feel like if this version sells a lot as the S10 lite did, they might finally give us at least the OPTION of the processor going forward. I'll support them if they support us.
But there is little differences between Snapdragon and Samsung processors though. (for regular use)

I did mine is the 4g version though I think but I love it 🥰😍 and for the price its perfect. For me the plastic back doesn't matter much you're gonna put a case anyway. And the screen and gestures are so smooth. Not to mention an amazing camera 🥰 I recommend

I was going back and forth between this and the Pixel 5. I have a Pixel 2 XL and figured I'd give Samsung another try for the first time since having the Galaxy S3. I returned it within a few days because some core things just did not work the way I wanted them to. Autofill, Smart Lock, general shortcuts, etc just didn't work out of the box (or with a ton of messing around) how I expect them to. Anyways, returned it and I'm picking up the Pixel 5 tomorrow. Maybe that's a boring decision, but sometimes "it just works" is the most important thing.

Awesome video as always! Loving the new camera angles too 😃 I had the ultra and then went to the Oneplus 8 pro. I wish the FE was out beforehand as I probably would of gone with that one. But one major issue with Samsung now for me is the irritating Bixby integration and the abundance of duplicate apps and crapware! Get rid of that and I could be persuaded back.

The setup looks clean but one note though, maybe move the pole to a place where it isn't visible when you're on the front/face camera or whatever lol. That way it'll look even cleaner whenever you want to have your face in the shot and the pole won't mess with the background or anything

Plastic or glasstic or polycarbonate with wireless charging is much better than any glass with any gorilla coating .So a point here for the FE

Just bought an orange S20 FE 5G! The trade-in promos and bundled pre-order goodies were too good to pass up. The phone is $350 as trading in my cracked S10 gets me $350 back, but the bundled $70 Samsung Store gift card (I used it on the Galaxy Buds Live, cutting them to $65) and bundled Spotify Premium and TH-cam Premium subscriptions combine to slash the effective price to $180. So I'm basically paying $245 for everything I mentioned, which is actually less money than the $250 it costs to replace the screen on a S10!

Well, it's on pre-order in the US for $599.I think that is a great deal which is hard to beat! Of course only 5G with the snapdragon 865 sold here. Samsung should make this price permanent to have monster sales in the US and worldwide!

It's a good phone for the price. Don't like the flat screen though.
I would consider the S20 FE in a few months time, when the price will drop. Here in the UK, the Snapdragon means better performance and battery life, plus 5g future proofing. As Tom mentioned, no pointless macro and depth sensor cameras, plus being Snapdragon, Gcam might be ported. Best value and performance S20 in Exynos territories.

Get over it. I can't believe people are still obsessing over the headphone jack. I have an S9 and the last time I used it was a war ago trying to find the difference in sound quality on my Bluetooth headphones.

I got the Galaxy S20 FE 5G a few days ago. It's a huge step up from the Google Pixel (first one) that I had.
I've got the s10e so for me this would be a good upgrade for a decent price. £30per month. Id would get it in red.

i'd reccomend to buy the S20 because if you have a flagship buy another flagship and you still have that premium feel, if you from mid range phone user then yes FE edition is reccomended, but its all up to you tho

Overhead is nice. I am getting the s20 FE in purple. Premium look isn't important to me. It doesn't have a curve which is nice plus it has the most important features. Solid battery life, bright 120 hz display and a top of the line processor to keep this going for a while.
Honestly it's not reasonable to have a plastic back on a phone that costs more than 500 dollars!!

It has flagship specs, so to lower the price, they had to do it. Plus, when I tested the Note 20 with the same material, it essentially felt like normal glass unless I really examined it. Makes it a bit more drop-resistant too.
If you know anything about polycarbonate it's stronger and durable than that glass back you want that will break if you drop it.
Like the white color. Is the camera good at capturing moving targets (cats, toddlers) mostly blurry free?

@@parthoomphy7214 Big phones are overrated. One handed use makes my hand very tired after a while and it's not comfortable in the pocket. I'd much prefer the size of the regular s20 or iPhone X to this behemoth

Gorilla glass 3 was used in Galaxy S4 in 2013. Disappointing that the same is used in the FE
Gorilla glass 5 on the regular Note 20 had the same drop resistance as Gorilla glass victus (7) on the Ultra.
