You might have mentioned this in other videos. But when I bought my EP3 in 2005 Honda offered a performance driving tuition, to get the best out of the car whilst staying safe. I spent half a day ragging it around Wales with a qualified performance driver. Still got the certificate...and the car.
Yes, same here - late 2003 pre-facelift, still have it here when I moved down under. It was the Honda Motor Appreciation Course (MAC). My instructor was an ex-police performance/pursuit driving instructor, so I had a great day out!
@@jonctrthat's the one, MAC! My instructor used to train government personnel drivers how escape and evade when shit hit the fan, J turns et al. Great guy.
This was such a throwback to when i was 20 years old...I miss mine every day. There simply just aren't that many of them left in the US these days. Been watching your videos since then, absolutely love what you did with yours!
That is wild! Thanks for watching for so long! It is a shame that it wasn’t more popular in the US as there would have been way more parts available if it had been. Appreciate that you rate what I did with mine 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
The exuahst tunnel not being there makes sense if they made it 5 seats but with it being only 4 seater I would've preferred for my exuahst not to risk scraping 😂
Just picked up my EV1 today. I feel like it's the best and worst of all worlds. The utility of 5 doors, the chassis of the EP2, the engine bay of the EP3 and the performance of the EP3 Si. I love it so much
Civic si came standard with the sun roof. I was able to purchase cigarette lighter and ash tray on Ebay. For my 2003 civic si. Never came here in the U.S. One thing i always hated was the Big Usdm front and rear bumpers we have. Good amount of new info thanks👍🏼
Oh wow! I thought it was an option for the US cars. Surprising that it didn’t come with those other bits though! Yeah, it think that might be one of the reasons it wasn’t as popular in the US. Definitely doesn’t look as good as the UK cars
On my jdm ep3 it came with a factory fitted gathers navigation system and front gathers speakers with the Honda gathers user manual. so that looks like an optional extra too
@@OllyRossI think it had that weird TypeR seat with the airbag in the side. If you look at the parts list all TypeR seats has the mounting place for them (they share the frame with EP1/2 seats) but only Canadian cars have the bags installed.
I have a 2002 Ep3 SiR which was just a canadian version, pretty identical to us spec, one thing I've noticed is that my car doesn't have the VTEC decal even though I've seen pre face lift ones with it
@lamesamelame they all have sunroofs to my knowledge. I haven't had any issues with mine but when you close it the windows closes halfway, then to close it the rest of the way you have let go and then hold the button again.
Great video Olly. I enjoy watching your videos and happy to be an ep3 owner in the cosmic grey. I can't believe the US option had cruise control that would have been really cool to have in the UK. :)
I thought it was an option for the North American cars but it looks like it was standard part. Wild that it wasn’t offered as an option here if Honda had all the parts to do it already
That would have been added by the previous owner. No lights would have come tinted from factory due to the reduced light output and having to meet regulations
I owned vk56ulu that was featured in this video in 2020. . I was second official owner but initially it was a dealer pre reg from Honda in Worcester. Was sub 60k miles when I sold it. Should have kept it in hindsight. And interestingly the number on the plaque was earlier than my 55 plate I owned at same time 😂
As a US watcher of this video, It continually makes me sad of American Honda's poor decisions witht he EP3 here. That darn RSX Type S had to steal the show....
I don't think I have the paint code but it is Rays Gold. I have a video on the whole process that shows the paint in it though so you could check that one out to see?

@@OllyRoss I had a fully built and tunned RSX Type S and I did love that car. I had both the EP3 and RSX S at the same time. My EP3 was my commuter and my RSX was my hobby. My EP3 was bone stock but I would love an EP3 with a K24 no VTEC and just a nice tune focusing on zippy low end. @@OllyRoss Yes and that's why I like the way Honda options things...it's all based on trim levels. Another designation on some models was the "EX" trim that also came with the moonroof standard.
The a3 and the 5 speed is horrible. The full type s swap should have been the way the car came from the factory. The 6 speed makes it way beyter to drive

USDM EP3 Si was sold with a sunroof. I don't believe there was an option to not have one, possibly through Honda's HFP program.

Definitely more practical than an EP3 with those rear doors! It does seem to be a blend of a few cars into one doesn’t it! Haha

Ace watch I’ve a pre facelift jdm car in the 🇮🇲
The police had a fleet of Accord type R’s and there’s also pics from the launch at the TT grandstand!

Good video. On my Preface JDM it’s got the Original Gathers Honda touch screen satnav. Yet to see another one like it

Did they do an EP3 with a forged engine?
Do you have any information about the blacked out pre-facelift headlights? My EP2 has them and saw a few other EPs running it.

Is that a real mugen grill?
The carbon one isn’t real because Mugen never made a carbon one. The other one I have new in the box is a real Mugen one though 👍🏻
Is it true the jdm headlights are glass and not plastic?
I am not sure on that one. I doubt it as they were all made in the UK so they must all be the same. I could be wrong though

Yeah in the states we all had to swap to A2 or K24 if we want to go fast. The A3 suuucks
Fun fact: ALL US Si have moonroofs whether it is a Civic, Prelude or CRX.
