  • The Honda Civic Type R EP3 has so many aftermarket performance parts available, sometimes it can seem a bit overwhelming when you are first starting out. After owning an EP3 for over 7 years, here is some advice that I wish I could have told my self back when I first began.

    Olly runs through some of the things he has learnt along the modifying journey of his Honda Civic Type R EP3. This is hopefully some good advice that can be learnt from so that you can make the best decision for you when modifying you car, whether it is an EP3 Type R or something else. The EP3 has so many options when it comes to modifying. Keeping it Naturally Aspirated, adding boost by a Turbo charger or Supercharger or even going with Independent Throttle bodies. Olly will run through parts needed for a basic N/A build and will also share various info on the wheel specs as well as other useful tidbits. Olly then runs through his list of regrets and things he would have done differently.

    Revo shifter is worth it, got mine with solid mount bushing on shifter and gearbox forks.
    Probably at the same time change your cables with detent springs and selector springs. The only thing I wish I changed but plan to in future.

    Out of exhaust options, I picked up mugen twinloop exhaust and it sounds amazing while being actually not that loud and giving 3 inch diameter to let the engine breathe more easily :)

      2 & 1/4 or 2.5 inch is fine for n/a four bangers.
      3 inch doesn’t give enough back pressure (which n/a requires).
      If going turbo eliminate all back pressure entirely.

    Good video mate
    I fitted the short shifter with the Teg solid bushes at the same time I was having work on the Trans done. I had the mech fit the HR detent and HR stiff selector springs. Wht a difference, the first month the car was feeling like a race car banging into gear and locking in tight. Overtime it has settled a bit but not loads. Locks in nicely and if you have 2nd gear synchro's and gear fixed the shifting is satisfying.

    Always loved these cars, I just wish they got the k20a2, or something high revving like the 8th gen si.

    google states that you need a larger throttle body for the tegiwa intake? is that actually true? or can you just run stock?

    • @OllyRoss
      @OllyRoss  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, this isn't true. Google may be referring to when going for more power but in my personal opinion, a larger throttle body isn't worth the money if you are staying N/A. I still have the standard throttle body with mine

  • @JONACAN
    @JONACAN 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The spoon exhaust system will be a good upgrade for a standard engine though?

    • @OllyRoss
      @OllyRoss  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends on your end goal with the car I guess? It sounds great (it is loud) but if you are chasing power, you will need to switch it up like I have. If you aren’t worried about the numbers then it’s great!

  • @TRWM735
    @TRWM735 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Awesome. Nerdy Engineer question; Do you find performance differences because of the weight difference of the Carbon Fiber components? Or is it 100% cosmetic?

    • @OllyRoss
      @OllyRoss  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In this case, purely cosmetic because it looks sick. The stuff that is usually lighter is the PrePreg carbon. that stuff is crazy expensive though so there aren't any parts for the Civic. They do exist for the S2000 however and it's like £2000 for a boot lid.

    • @TRWM735
      @TRWM735 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@OllyRoss Wow fair enough. £2000 is pretty steep when I guess there's so many other performance improvements you can make for that price

    I’ve got the Revo shifter, along with Acuity bushes and ‘road spec’ Vibra Technics engine/transmission mounts.
    The difference is staggeringly positive. Everything feels tight and direct. Though the t took a while to get used to it and I was paranoid about making a ‘money shift’. Maybe it was me getting used to it or maybe it needed breaking in, but it’s terrific now.
    Threw on a heavy skunk2 shifter knob to assist in positivity too.
    Olly, Did you ever do a derlin steering rack slider replacement?
