4:34 I ignore the critics when they say they’re slow. Yeah they’re not obviously as quick as the hot hatches of today like your Golf R’s, 140’s, S3’s etc… The thing is with modern hot hatches, is you put your foot down, and then boom… You’re already at 100mph in a matter of seconds. I’ve had high powered cars with over 300hp. Just recently sold my stage 1 330d with 320hp to get an EP3 again and I had more fun in my EP3 last Saturday night than I did in my 330 in 6 months. The thing is with the EP3’s, is they’re just so much fun. You’ve gotta proper rev the car out to get up to speed. Also the K and B series engines are the best sounding 4 pots ever made in my opinion. People who have never driven an EP3 or any vtec Honda, will never know what it’s like. They’re not quick like I said… But stupidly fun. I don’t regret selling my 330 for my EP3 at all.
I have the same car, same colour and similar mods. When my wife drives it, she gets people people putting thumbs up ect. She finds it funny because shes not into car at all. 😂 K20 is a great engine love the VTEC !!!!
Had my EP3 for 7 years with all the usual mods in cosmic grey. Absolutely loved every minute of it. The car was flawless all those years, just the usual maintenance here and there. I’ve now had my DC5 over 5 years and thats even better!! Both make great daily’s, weekend blasters and are still easy to live with, affordable to maintain and practical.
I'd always wanted one and finally got the chance a couple of years ago. Cosmic grey, stock throughout and now 47k miles. I intended to do the usual mods (similar to yours) but I enjoy so much as it is that I haven't bothered.
@@ismailkartout4844 Nothing much. Intake on which is a must and had various exhausts over the years but that's back to standard. Had rust cut out and sorted at the rear arches a year or so ago. Needs some sorting and underseal soon though as they do suffer and it's getting on now.
I have in my garage a 2006 Black Type R EP3 Civic with 55K..I have air cooled garage with this and a MK2 MR2...these cars are iconic in their own right A great car the Civic and my god does it love the revving..I took it for a service and the mechanics all wanted to drive it..I let one with me in it and his eyes lit up changing gears like a kid in a sweet shop 👍🤜🏽
Enjoyed this video 👏 My favourite car to date was a humble 1.7 Puma coupe. Not fast but revved well, sounded good and handled superbly. More fun than much faster cars I’ve owned and driven inc the ST170 which I also think will he a future classic and is very underrated as the paper stats don’t tell the story not by a long way, actually prefer it to the EP3 as the steering and chassis are a lot better plus the brakes are amazing
Really great vid, accidently watched half of it in 360p and what a blast I like ur take on the ep3, had the chance to find a first owner mint garaged stock EP3 and the only way to really understand the ep3 is to just have one, not just drive and smash once. No matter how long you would talk about it and explain how it would work She my baby, owning her for 3 years as a daily I got myself a 2nd car now for the winter, Don't want that machine to change into a rust bucket I would regret it so much. Car is just amazing to use as a daily but started to feel irresponisble of driving such a great car just for daily commute, not that it ever gets boring on the way. But I would die if I just used up such a gem of a car for just driving distances. Ofcourse it aint the best car, or even the best hatch. I don't think there even is a best hatch, it all just depends on what a person seeks from a car. The golf r32 back then is also a mind blowing car, just then it just drives like a regular german car with a bigger engine, great story on its own, or many other cars. But the ep3 and the 2.0l NA era is bliss. Car is for sure a classic on its own. No other car feels or drives like this, just like a miata is a miata on its own, no other car can copy that, just the same for that civic. They really nailed it back then in the 'spirit' of civic culture and what type R means. Affordable car for everyone and then they gave us that k20, there is so much history to this car already for the people that are into the culture of it, be it UK or JP. Cheers
I’ve got the same year ep3 and colour Honestly like you said it’s the best car for the back roads, I use to daily my mine for nearly 2 years and that was b roads two and from work around 40 a day, it was so much fun, If you had a bad day just blast it home and by the time you get home you are smiling Mine has similar mods on as well but I’ve got a skunk 2 ultra inlet manifold to go on and a 4kg flywheel to be done soon also mine is stripped out I always tell people you might think there slow but they are little rockets and b roads or track are where they belong, I’ve kept up with all sorts of cars and honestly it shocks me, Power to weight ratio is a lovely thing
I bought my EP3 off my ex's, sisters other half for £450 in 2021 with a rotten sill, neglected paint work, trashed alloys and an intention of selling it on once I'd done the work. Fast forward to now and the cars been totally stripped down to a shell, not because I want rid of it but because I love it. The combination of noise, smell, vibration, how much it engages you, how much it just wants to be limit bashed, it cannot be beaten. I have always been on 2 wheels, from 125s to 1000cc race bikes and I honestly thought the EP3 would be a little bit of fun but boy was I wrong. This car is so under my skin, it's intoxicating. Long live the K20A2 and the EP3 chassis combo. Honda really did make a car for the British B road. My brother and I love ringing it's neck. It's not the prettiest car in the world, it's not the fastest car in the world but it doesn't matter, i just ended up with a silly grin on my face everytime I drove it.
I thought i recognized those roads in the opening shots. Nice to see another local EP3 about. Had to change my undies a few times flying over those humps in the road up by Dick hudsons!
I have a facelift (2004) EP3 with aircon, I can honestly say I've never used it in 6 months ownership 😄probably says more about British weather than the usefulness of A/C 🙃 I will be doing a 6 month cost breakdown on my channel soon 🙏 Agree that this car isn't designed to be the fasted on the road, Its all about how the power is delivered and how enjoyable that it. Great video btw, audio and video quality could be improved but a fun watch nonetheless
Loved the video. Couldnt agree more! Must you be visiting zolder om your journey give me a shout. My mates and I have some ep3's and em2 kswaps driving near it. Till then! And keep it fun 💪🏼

I have a modded fn2 with hks induction kit miltek exhaust engine remap VTEC at 4500 is such a lot of fun ! The people that don't like these have more than likely never actually driven one !!
People who say that a ep3 is slow are stupid. These cars are from 2001 and had a NA 2.0 liter engine with 200hp. At the time, only a Audi s3 was a tiny bit faster. Ep3's are great cars and have a lot of NA potential. My ep3 is on 260hp'ish and it's as fast as my previous Leon Cupra 1P stage 1 with 300hp and 430nm. Not slow at all :) Greetz from Holland!
Exactly what I say! Slow compared to a 2024 (insert fast car of your choice). But at the time it was quick and the fun factor is really difficult to match!
Brilliant car, had a 30th Anniversary from 2002 - 2020, it went through all evolutions ending up a full caged track car that had done 43 laps round the nurburgring. Unfortunately the entire floor rotted away. Would need to be a JDM import if i was to have another, as they are the only ones left that aren't rotten :).
Missed the point of being stupidly reliable. I owned mine for 6 years then sold it to buy a boxster and then a r53 cooper s and as soon as I heard my old ep3 was possibly up for sale I bought it back. I won’t be selling it again. Ideal daily and b road basher. Always reminds of old 2 strike bikes that need to kept in the power band to get the best out it 👌
Definitely….. I purchased a spanking brand new Black EP3 in 2004 when I was contracting on the Rails up in London at 34 years of age. Sold that in 2009 and had a couple of your standard Honda family hatchbacks up until 2019 and then came the divorce. Now I own a white FK8 and it’s about as fast as you’ll ever need.

I like the look of the fn2

Both incredible cars had ep3 & got fn2 such fun 🙌🏻

I have had my Canadian Ep3 brand new since 2002. Love this car. In the process of doing and JDM k24a swap with 4piston Ported head. 😃
DUDE, you deserve more subs!! Im currently putting my EP1 back on the road with half the power!
Thanks mate! Appreciate the love. Getting there slowly but surely.

Great to meet you too mate! Car is epic now. New lease of life. How was your drive back? Enjoying the car even more?

Amen to that. I would like a bit more power in mind in fairness....maybe a remap later down the line!
I've always been a big ep3 and k20 fan but I prefer my midrange torque over revving the nuts off the engine

Nice, but reving the nuts of it would become tiring, a Leon Cupra r 225 would be nicer..
original ford puma 1.7vct, its technically a coupe but being based on the mk4/5 fiesta is close enough, its not fast, but heaps of fun
