After 30 years parked in a junkyard withe the windows down and the spark plugs out the old 289 V8 that was in this 64 Galaxie Country Sedan station wagon was not salvageable. So we are swapping in a 5.0 302 engine out of a Mustang GT that we hopped up with a complete valve train from Comp Cams, a Weiand intake manifold, Holley 650 carburetor, and Hooker headers. This is an original V8 stick shift manual that was converted to floor shifted back in the 70s with an old Hurst shifter. Can we finally get this old wagon running again after 2 years of us working on it? Lets find out!
Here is a list of all the parts used in this build.
    35-421-8 Comp hydraulic roller cam
    986-16 Comp double valve spring
    89311-16 Comp Evolution lifters
740-16 Comp retainers available at compcams.com
2135 Comp double roller timing chain
    611-16 Comp locks
    503-16 Comp valve stem seals
    0-4777SAE Holley double pumper carb
B-F101 Scott Drake pulley set. available at holley.com
6861G Mr.Gasket finned aluminum valve covers
    6901HKR Hooker headers
    120-155 Honey air cleaner
    8202 MSD Blaster 2 coil
    C5ZZ-7A531-LM Scott Drake equalizer pivot
    12-801-1 Holley fuel pump
    51243NG Mr.Gasket alternator

I’m 73 and I love your family. Watching every member getting involved and everyone pulling for the win is hart melting. Mom and dad are roll models for all of us. Your oldest daughter is still an intricate part of the family and not yet in her own world.
I have 2 sons and 9 grandchildren. Im so proud of every one. The family unit is still the most powerful influence for todays morals. I commend your family and hope your example encourages others to follow your lead.
The church basket ball game is just one example of what is important in this world.
Sorry if I’m sounding preachy, but our country needs more family values today more than ever.

I remember when I was a kid in 1973 I worked for a retailer that was similar to Home Depot. I worked in lumbar. A customer came in to pick up a load of lumber and backed his 1963 Ford Country Squire station wagon in for me to assist loading it. He told me this 10 year old car was brand new. It smelled new and the odometer had less than 500 miles on it! He said he bought two identical cars in 1963 and stored one of them. And he just recently had pulled it out of hibernation. I’ll never forget that.

Great to see the old 64 running around the field! As a Ford Wagon guy I am thrilled that you are going to really fix this one up. My brother - in - law had a 1964 Galaxie 500 convertible back in the day, Red with a white convertible top. It had the 352 V8 2 barrel carb and three speed column shifter, no power steering or brakes. He converted it to a Hurst floor shifter due to the column linkages being worn out. I was just a boy Ralphie's age when he owned that car and still remember how he struggled to steer it at slow speed and that the clutch always chattered in reverse. Keep up the great videos and take care guys!

The motor sounds radical. I love the sound of a healthy cam!!! Strap that battery down, fix the brakes, and make a sweet wagon.👍👍👍

I'll throw this in too. TDC (Top Dead Center) can be found by using a piece of wire.
You go to the point of the wire stops and starts moving again and go for the middle.
Mark the balancer where the wire quits moving and make another mark when it starts moving again. The center of those two marks is TDC.
