I have the new Model 3, and have to agree with you on the improvements. The suspension is leagues better, and the car is far more refined, yet still very sporty. I love mine. Last Tesla I had was a 2020 Model Y, similar to yours. It’s tough to compare the two because not only is the 2020 without your custom suspension, and the heavier weight than the 3, very uncomfortable on bumps, but as you pointed out, the whole UI is much snappier. Looking good Ryan Reynolds.

After 4 years in beta, the latest FSD is still a Level 2 assistant that requires *100* *percent* supervision.
That is not what Elon promised, 8 years ago.

I have a question. I took delivery of my model 3 Performance 2 weeks ago and full self-driving just became available on the 24th. I've noticed that it accelerates in a fairly aggressive manner when in autopilot. I don't mind that so much when merging onto a highway from a standstill into a 55 mph zone, but it isn't necessary all the time and maybe putting unnecessary wear on my tires.
Is there a way to set acceleration characteristics for autopilot? I've tried putting the car in chill mode, and that doesn't seem to affect the dynamics. Are there other settings I haven't found yet?
I don't really want to drive around and chill mode all the time because I want to have the potential of the acceleration available in case I need it I just don't want to be using it all the time. When in full self-driving or autopilot I really want the experience to be very Serene and when you're on a 30 mile an hour Mountain Road with very severe turns that hard acceleration is not serene. If I want to go quick I'll drive.
I'm getting some video to show what I'm talking about and I'll post it here if you want to see what I'm talking about.

v11 runs on the highway. That weird thing where it slowed down to 40 just to change lanes on the highway has been happening to me at a couple of places on the 101 since v11 came out. I'm hoping that whenever v12 gets pushed over to the highway stack it fixes itself. There is a specific spot on the 134 in Los Angeles where it stays in the HOV lane late and then will break from like 70mph to 40mph just to exit the HOV lane and then it guns it back to 70mph. It's the worst. I never thought that city streets would become more comfortable than the highway, but in my case that is exactly what v12 did. I'm currently on 12.3.6 i think, and the city streets drive is way more comfortable than when it switches to v11 for highway

    • @aa72on
      @aa72on 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@sludogI don’t know what you mean. Are you asking for a timeframe of when the highway stack is updated to v12 FSD? No one knows when the highway stack will be updated, I would assume that’s very low priority as the current v11 is pretty stable.
v12 (12.3.6) is the version that almost everyone is on, I don’t think any cars at this point would be on v11 unless someone has been intentionally refusing to update to the better version. So the answer to your question is, it’s already released and has been for months now.
Or are you asking about the update to the infotainment that is coincidentally also a v12?

I don’t understand what buying FSD service is supposed to achieve. Until it works 100% without fail, it doesn’t actually help because you now have to monitor it like a teenager you’re teaching to drive. It will get better, the fans say. Sure, but you’re paying $100/month to train a billionaire’s company’s product how to drive, just to have the pleasure of experiencing it? Kind of like a ride at Disney? I can see the appeal of it from that perspective - pay $100 for the ride, but then what? You said it in your video - it doesn’t actually save you time to do anything else (right now).
A much better usage of all this fantastic tech would be to make the average driver into an above average driver. Help me merge lanes safely by using the tech to make sure I have the ability to get over. Help me avoid accidents by detecting the moron next to me that is trying to shave while driving encroaching on my lane. Tell me that traffic on the freeway is stopped just ahead so I don’t rear-end the guy in front of me and the guy behind me doesn’t do the same to me. Help me back out of a busy and crowded parking lot safely without hitting anyone or getting slammed by the guy doing 40mph through the lot.
Those are things worth $100/month. Not party tricks.

@@DerekDavis213 Serious mistake is not defined. I can only judge what I have seen: I have watched video of variety of drivers. There are known issues like parking lots and highway is still the old version. It will drive where people would do it differently and they should intervene as they are responsible when they aren't comfortable. One incident in 20 hours would last 10-20 seconds so would be a tiny percentage. What matters is reliability and finding the known edge cases needing training like school buses, sudden gravel at dusk, more parking lot, and highway is still old hard code. Waymo which is operating driverless has had issues and is under investigation. It's a battle of finding edge cases and training.

I did a little FSD this morning in my new X. Home to the Costco on the west side of Tucson. About 11 miles. Car wandered from the left side to the right side of the lane. Would be indecisive about what lane it wanted to be in. On a left turn, got in the right turning lane of a dual turn lane knowing it was the right lane that would go away after the turn setting up a conflict with the human drivers who were in the left lane and do not want to be cut off. It’s a long way from being ready. Also v12.3.6.

I got a new long range Model 3 Highland a month ago with a 30-day free trial of FSD. I am most impressed by the technological achievement FSD represents, even if it never improved further. I did not use it as much as I should have for the simple reason that it deprived me of the enjoyment of driving the car myself! I don't do a whole lot of driving so, unless Tesla find a way (which should not be too difficult) to charge according to the amount of use, I can't justify even the reasonable monthly rate. I would definitely take it when going an a longer trip.

Nice Video, I have owned 4 BMW's and then instead of replacing the BMW with another BMW I replaced it with a Tesla Model Y. Yes FSD was a major reason I considered the Tesla. Every long trip to the daughter's house makes me enjoy it! Even work which is a 72-mile round trip. I agree that with 12.3.6, let it get you close and take over. I also know that entering the Interstate can be tricky so I usually take control and get the car into the HOV and turn it back to FSD. Sometimes if traffic is lighter I let it exit. I find the right lane can be dangerous with people merging, and stopping for no reason so I prefer to stay out till I'm close enough, sometimes FSD wants to ride in the right lane far too long for me.

1.35 million people die every year due to car crashes. Each day, over 500 children die in a car accident. Car crashes are the leading cause of death among young people aged 15 to 29, and many of them are caused by drunk/distracted drivers. Full self driving is absolutely something that benefits the world in massive ways. If it ever became so autonomous that you could be asleep in the backseat, that would be such a game changer for society. I don't agree with your comment about "fixing other things first". Plus, we can get drunk wherever/whenever we want without worrying!

Been using FSD daily on my commute the last few weeks and has been woking great. Awesome on highways although sometimes it rides the passing lane a little long when passing slower vehicles and I'll have to move car over with blinker when cars are close behind. Another grip I have and this is the same with auto steer is that when traveling on roads without center median divider you cannot adjust a set speed limit like on highways. FSD is a bit better than auto steer because FSD will keep pace with cars around you but its not consistent. Im guessing this may be locked in because of safety if your or another car crosses over center line.

I tried the FSD on our 2023 MYP when it was free for a month, driving in the Palm Springs area. It did amazing well in some pretty tricky traffic situations, very few mistakes. Do I need it, no. I won't be subscribing to it.

Palm Springs? Try it in LA during rush hour, or up north in San Jose. Lots of mistakes, human interventions are required.
