I love bestiaries they add so much depth to a games' world. It makes the biomes you visit feel rich and alive and I love reading bios about how the monsters act and also react to other monsters in their environments
Fact. For almost an hour, I marched Celes and Locke up and down the island, just to have one evade me. Once the first one loaded in though, I swear every third fight was a Brachiosaurus, and walking alone solo to max out EXP and Espers was no longer an option
I remember in the original back when it was new how I grinded up Terra in the end by playing with her alone in the Dino forest. The brachiosaurus showed up regularly.
Ghost Ship in FFVII - only fought in the aquarium tunnel of Underwater Reactor or Battle Arena. Actually a really amazing design and I'd love it back as a boss fight
I'm confused: which game is representing Movers? Except for Crisis Core Reunion, each of the other games mentioned, including 5, which is where they originated, are used to highlight other monsters.
While Crystal Chronicles wouldn’t have too many weird and obscure enemies-particularly due to most of its designs coming from FFIX-I do like its own take on Armstrong and the monster house archetype. Rather than redo FFIX’s design, CC’s Armstrong built onto it to be its own thing, particularly fungus and other biological growths taking over a building to become a grotesque and equal merging of the two. A perfect boss for Tida, an ultimate representation of the decay the once bright town fell into after its demise.
Hey dude, great video. Regarding Pupu's. . . Back in the day when Mobius Final Fantasy was up and running they hosted events with Pupu's in all different colors. I remember you could get all sorts of cards based off their elements and whatnot. I miss Mobius 😭😭😭
We got Torgal 😊. Also, Carbuncle's name made me look up what a carbuncle is and...I really wish I hadn't 😂. To anyone who is also curious, you will be greeted with images of festering wounds. Don't do it 😅
Every time I think of suplexing the train, I think of some tester back in the day yelling to his other tester, "yo check this out, you'll never believe it" Other tester comes in, sees him suplex the train, and spits out his coffee laughing.
Ooooh. THAT Unknown in XIV. I don’t know how I didn’t see the connection from V’s but it makes sense of a boss. Especially that it’s fought ‘underground’ in…. Uhh Akademia Anyder?
Anamnesis Anyder (I looked it up). I never realized that boss was a reference to anything, but now that I look at it again it does kind of resemble the weird fleshy blob things. Underwater dungeon, so that tracks as well. Plus, the boss clones itself partway through the fight so even that may be a reference to the two identical-looking "Unknown" enemies in FFV.
I did not remember Mover's being in FF9. But it looked like it was at the endgame which I don't play very often and its been a few years since I gone through 9. Like everyone I remember them from 7 as I used them to lvl up Materia lol. Final Fantasy has so many iconic and just plain weird monsters. Part of why the games are so fun. Also I never knew Lulu from 10 had a Pupu doll weapon, or maybe I have only seen it like once lol. Thats a cool little easter egg.
@@veghesther3204 Ah I see. Possible I never seen them either or if I did it was only once. Like I said I have played FF9 multiple times but I don't often go to the final dungeon as I usually stay out on the world map doing all the other stuff lol.
PuPu is also in 14, Endwalker's Manderville storyline. The wayvh is UFO mount carries you is a direct reference to how it appears in 8 the first few times.
I remember dropping that train 1st time lmao. The Unknown were also in FF7 in the sunken Galiki sub. And I can't remember the monster but wasn't the skeleship in more than 1 FF game? You needed to steal an item for the underwater materia to fight S.Weapon.
on the note of unique 'dungeon' bosses, FFXIV's p10 8 man raid is pretty interesting ^^ wont say more past that for those who do want to experience the raid tier story though
I will forever love the rouge tomato along with it's other variant looks. It makes it funny and almost sad if your favorite food is tomato only to see swarms of rouge tomato walking with fangs ready to smack you.
If you play the Final Fantasy 6 mod "A Brave New World" for SNES, you get a message "Achievement Unlocked: Suplexed a Train!" for using suplex on it rofl
I remember in Chrono Cross near the end there was a little blue alien with a glowing antenna like Pupu who you could get into your party. I wonder if the 2 have anything to do with each other.
Who remembers Lone Wolf the Pickpocket? I can only think of 2 games he was in, and I don't think you ever fought him...and then he just....stopped. Kinda like Gogo. I wonder what happened to Lone Wolf?
I know something you dont. Feels so weir. PuPu has a cameo you didnt mention. Didnt see it in comments either: FFX-2 The fiend hunter side quest. Iron Giant. When you complete his story it turns out PuPu was controling him and it breaks down so he escapes i his flying saucer.
It being mobilized by a bunch of cats really adds to that 😂. It sounds adorable. Frightening at first, like a lot of Ghibli things can be, but once that mask is removed, things usually turn out to be friendly.
I always thought Movers were considered kinda iconic so I didn't expect that to appear in an "obscure monster" video Though considering I recently talked to an FF fan who played all main line games but didn't remember what movers are until I started describing them I guess it is kinda obscure?
No love for 4 in these 🥲 I'd say the Mech Dragon. It's only in a small area in a one time-only dungeon that the game sort of hurries you through. If you don't look for it you'll probably miss it, and I can't think of many other robot dragons in the series.
Regarding 4, I would throw my bid to the Flan Princess. Only in one room in the final dungeon, and only a 1/64 chance to spawn, and then the fight itself is really weird as they start dancing and change the battle music to Chocobo music
I was never sure if Doomtrain was supposed to be a reference to the Phantom Train or not. Wouldn't they just call it "Phantom Train" if it was? Maybe it started off that way, but because it was a Guardian Force they didn't want it to simply be a vehicle, but more of a fearsome monster (hence the creepy face on it). I suspect something similar about Yojimbo in FFX. It feels like this would have been either Odin or Gilgamesh in another FF game, but perhaps they felt those didn't suit the tone they wanted for an aeon so they came up with something more Japanese-inspired. Yojimbo even comes with a little sidekick companion, like Gilgamesh has with Enkidu. And without spoiling anything, in FFXIV Gilgamesh and Yojimbo have an interesting connection as well.
Correct and once you END disc 2 they never show up again but I kept Enc non used at that point on disc 2 despite having Rinoa lv 99 all others still at lv 100.
Hi-Low Suit.......that fucking attack animation is so damn long and annoying. Whenever I would encounter " Christopher and Ghihee", I would just run. Not worth the hassle, the Experience and AP yields they give aren't worth shit at that point in the game.
Why run? Their attack isn't THAT bad, and they fall down pretty easy. Then again, I use the final dungeon as a playground by that point in the game, to level up everyone and everything to the max.
I named the Rogue Tomato "Tomato Juice". Some would call it Ketchup or Pizza Sauce. At least, some that i've met. My friends and i were weird back then. Probably still are.
How about Apanda from FFT? They only apear in 2 stages in the whole game, one being at the end of Deep Dungeon, and I don't think they apear in any other FF as a random enemy? I think one apears as a boss in some other mainline FF, but my memory on it is fuzzy right now.
I think they might appear in FF XII (French version), it's a palette swap of the big enemies with horns and a big sword. I wouldn't be surprised if this enemy appears in the Pharos of Ridorana
No offense meant, but you guys have been referencing Final Fantasy seven and it’s been off a whole lot more than usual lately. Maybe a little bit too much. Again no offense meant.
My country is currently experiencing a nationwide wireless cellular service network outage. Okay I love this channel, but one thing is driving me kupo nuts: You are mispronouncing "via" EVERY time you say it, as in... very often. It's an "ee" sound. "Vee-ah." (Though I suppose in REALLY proper Latin, it would be a W sound instead of a V. But omg please at least get the vowels correct.)
The Rogue Tomato in FFXII actually does have teeth. They come out when it attacks. You can see the teeth in the footage.
The Pupu is also the save icon for FFX-2 on the PS2 memory card. :3
I love bestiaries they add so much depth to a games' world. It makes the biomes you visit feel rich and alive and I love reading bios about how the monsters act and also react to other monsters in their environments
Correction for Rogue Tomato: it does show teeth ingame, but only during an attack animation.
Brachiosaurus in FF6. It took me forever to spawn him and he almost one shotted me. Thank God that i have overleved Celes and Terra.
Is this a joke?
It does have 1/16 chance to spawn so bad rng could make it take a bit.
Oh that thing was so hard to get to spawn and I HATED it.
Pupu is also central to a quest line in the later patches Final Fantasy XIV's Endwalker expansion
PuPu is also in the Hildebrand Quests of FF14
Was just about to say this. 😂
There's that one guy in Rocket Town that could use help with PuPu. He's stuck in the bathroom for 3 discs.
I posted this before I saw you did lol
if you confuse the hockey player enemies in ff8 they skate in a silly circle backwards around each other. it's great.
Ghost Ship in FFVII - only fought in the aquarium tunnel of Underwater Reactor or Battle Arena. Actually a really amazing design and I'd love it back as a boss fight
3:58 is that a neo Armstrong cyclone jet Armstrong cannon? It has a high-quality finish.

I love how the Tamato is one of several specific ties between the MMOs and the single player MMO
Ragtime Mouse from FFIX. That one was a roaming type of monster that would show up every other time when exploring the world. Either that or Yans.

FF8's Castle Bosses were all pretty unique and memorable. The Krysta and Trauma come to mind first.
One of the best final dungeon ever👍👍, i dont remember their name but the. Red Béhémoth and the ''thunder-mosquito" 😂
Red behemoth - Catoblepas
Thunder mosquito - Tri-Point
Every time I think of suplexing the train, I think of some tester back in the day yelling to his other tester, "yo check this out, you'll never believe it"

I wonder if the rogue tomato was inspired by the movie attack of the killer tomatoes?

In FF9 movers are even rarer then in FF5 and 6 so rare that in FF9 I NEVER fought a SINGLE one IN ANY part of the final dungeon at all

PuPu is also in 14, Endwalker's Manderville storyline. The wayvh is UFO mount carries you is a direct reference to how it appears in 8 the first few times.
7:38 Pupu is also a character and entire race of characters in FF14 Endwalker featured in the Hildibrand sidequests

It is either, actually. Regional pronunciations may vary, but either way of saying it is acceptable. Since FFU is British, v(eye)-ah is more proper.
V-eye-a is also correct. It's not nearly as bad as a video I saw a while back where the guy kept saying "Midger" instead of "Midgar"
