My brother and I, we stood up against Yazmat (FFXII) back in 2007. We had to actually rotate between us during the fight so one could sleep while the other fought it. It took us almost an entire day, that's right, we started the fight after lunch and we won against this boss early morning the next day. That was the best moment of RPG gaming in my entire life, to this day we remember how hard it was to keep healing and paying attention to every single detail of this fight just so we could survive while killing him. Also, we did have only one character lvl 99 (as far as I recall) and with no BiS gear at all. It was perfect.
This is closer to how I remember it being. When the fella in the video said "This fight can take up to an hour" I was like "What? MAYBE there's some crazy fast way to win that was found by FF maniacs but for the average person, this fight took an eternity".
Easy way to kill this boss is I had vaan, ashe and Fran at time and I got all gilgamesh armor and weapon, put it on vaan, made ashe my tank and Fran my range and item user. Plus kept her close to entrance so I could easily return to Crystal to refill. I threw berserker stuff on vaan, and he just went to town on him. Set a gambit on Fran to cast berserk on vaan. And healings when needed.
Yeah I think the absolute fastest you can do in the original is about 50 minutes. And that requires grinding to Lv 99, getting a second Masamune, menuing while constantly running just far enough from Yiazmat to avoid some attacks on your Decoyed character without going so far that Yiazmat can't get to them and starts hitting your attackers, and some luck to not get KO'd too many times by its potential instant KO regular attacks. I remember trying this strategy myself, and I think it ended up taking 3-4 hours. It can be done much faster in TZA, though. Part of that is due to each character being more specialized but stronger overall, the damage limit being removed, and the game's 4x speed up.
I always feel like Seymour atop Mt. Gagazet is a nightmare to most Final Fantasy X casual and first time players. Yes, obviously the Dark Aeons, Nemesis, and Penance are more difficult, but they are optional and require sidequesting to even attempt. You can be plugging along in X, thinking to yourself "man, this game is great! It's not that hard!" and then you meet Seymour. I know how to take him down easy now, but "Pitiful mortal. Your hope ends here!" has been etched into my brain!
Agree. Imo the toughest fights without prior knowledge are him and Yunalesca. The difference between them is when you know Yunalesca’s strat she’s so easy… but Flux is still a douche 😂
15:42 My friends from FFXIV just let me know you used my footage for Bahamut Ultimate. I'm honoured you put my footage out there, still a bit of a shock! I play with all effects on so apologies if it was hard to find good shots to splice 😅
UCoB is way outshined by other ultimates. Even some of more recent savages can be more difficult since they have both mechs and dps checks, while UCoB has basically no dps check these days.
Totally agree. Exdeath and Neo Exdeath can be beaten with a good leveled team, jobs and gears. But Omega needs specific setting to stand a chance. Besides, Omega is quick and highly punitive. And, well, Exdeath is not, definitely.
i remember seymour battle on the mountain path on my first playthrough on ps2 year's ago, that felt so hard back then and i levelled up for ages before i could get anywhere but yeah yunalessca was challenging aswel, but when i played the ps4 remaster i had the experience and it was alot easier compared to my 1st try on ps2. it also reminds me of the grinding to get past trema and major numerous on ffx-2 remaster, so many hours to that.
I don't remember much from that game since I played the first & only walkthrough in a loonnngggg time but damn, it has some tough bosses. Next after next and another. Grinding back and forth, repeat.
Kefka: Lvl Sabin to Lv 99 maxing his STR. Equip Him with Gengi Glove + Offering (Master's Scroll) and you can attack 8 times. But if you use the spell "quick" you can have two turns at once. It means 16 attacks dealing 9999 damage each, killing him in just one turn. :)
Honestly, that stage of the fight, he's only got 60k health. By that stage it should be fairly trivial even without the more extreme combinations or rare Relics or high leveled characters.
@Baiken In Final Fantasy II there's barely a world left to save. And judging by how the world looks like in Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus, you might as well say Sephiroth won also they don't use Mako energy anymore. Barret in his quest to save the environment had the world switch to oil and coal.
Bless you. I've been saying this too for so long. It's so annoying when FF6 fanboys/girls or Kefka fans try to act like Kefka's the only one that's succeeded. Not to shit on Kefka, but I guess people just forget that Ardyn technically won even MORE than Kefka did. Ardyn's victory can't be truly reversed, the Lucii bloodline is fully dead. Kefka's victory was able to be recovered from.
This is the same video that thinks Adamantoise is a harder boss than Omega, same mistake Gameranx made years ago, seems they just don't do any research at all...almost as if they've never played the games they commentate on.
@@Chelaximbut Sephiroths goal wasnt chaos or destruction, he wanted to be a god and rule over the world. While he became some sort of god in the end of FF7, it was only for like half an hour and he never got to rule over anything.
In FFXIV as I know it's either Dragonsong Reprise (Ultimate) or The Omega Protocol (Ultimate) are much more harder than Unending Coil of Bahamut (Ultimate)
Correct. The Omega Protocol (Ultimate) is absolutely monstrously difficult compared to UCOB. It makes UCOB look like a regular extreme difficulty raid in comparison
@@LightbladeRiulo Yeah, when WatchMojo said they were only focusing on mainline games and then said that I facepalmed. I guess all they did was a brief google search of what FF14 players considered the hardest boss of A Realm Reborn when it was current content (the popular pick seems to be Turn 9 in Coils, aka Nael van Darnus) and they somehow got it in their head that UCOB was the same thing.
Omega in FF15 was nightmarishly difficult and very difficult to deal with, especially if you enraged him. He had immense defense and several attacks that could wipe the party in one hit. Adamantoise was a joke. It had a ton of HP, but was pretty inert otherwise, and you could even one-shot it with the ring of Lucius.
They took bosses from the Originals Games without DLC or bonus dungeon, i agree Omega was harder but i was more impressed by the Adamantoise because I run all the game thinking it was just a random mountain and then arrive the final contract and you learn that the mountain you saw a thousand times is alive and angry 😂😂😂
I love FF9 and done well over 15 play throughs. I have defeated Ozma in disk 3 in 1 try, I have also spent 17+ tries on fully maxed characters in disk 4. The randomness makes it difficult
He straight-up cheats. When you put in a command, his ATB bar fills completely, and he gets his turn off before yours does. The only way to get around it is to input your commands during his spell animations.
He is literally a "pick your poison" fight, if you make all immune to statuses or elements, all you do is increase the odds of his unique version of Meteor. yep, his Meteor is NOT the same as Vivi's, if you survive with MP Absorb, you'll see his 2 MP cheaper, proving its not the same, the difference is he will not have the random miss chance and has higher damage rolls.
MageMaster in FFVI is WAY harder than Kefka, mainly because you are limited to magic attacks and because he casts Ultima upon his death. There are also no save stations in the entire dungeon, so you lose all your progress. The only way to know about the Ultima spell is to hear about it from someone else or by reading about it in a walkthrough. Kefka is easy peasy by comparison.
@@noahmaas1670 Omega's attacks are brutal and can wipe your team very quickly, Yiazmat's are much more managable, it's just that the battle is very long - but that is not an issue since you can leave the battlefield anytime to save, heal and buy more items. In terms of difficulty, I'd put him behind not just Omega but also Zodiark. But that's just my opinion.
@@Erredupizer Maybe it also has to do with the fact I went against Omega with an almost capped level party? Reverse and decoy tank, while foebreaker withered his attacks, and then it was pretty smooth sailing. Perhaps I was also getting unlucky with deathstrike from Yiazmat's physicals too, though? Just seemed much more sketchy than Omega for me. Only trial mode 100 left for the platinum, we'll see if the grind isn't too exhausting!
I was faced against War Mech on my very first run on Floating Castle...I was underprepared, but managed to make it to the last room...only to get myself a brutal series of 4 R.Hydras encounters, almost one at a tile. And, when I finally made it to Tiamat's door, IT SHOWED UP!! Needless to say, War Mech wiped the floor with my poor party...
I feel like Emerald and Ruby weapons in 7 should be tied, because yes there are strategies people can use to beat them, but it doesn't detract from the fact both are tough in their own ways. 7:39 to be fair, you can acquire a Materia that removes the time limit from that fight.
@@crypticchaos6813 when you consider the rewards, Emerald is worth challenging since you get a master magic, a master command and master summon materia, but Ruby isn't since some of the strategies that involve fighting Ruby weapon employ knights of the round, and to get knights of the round you would need a gold chocobo...which is the reward you get for beating it.
yeah i know about the knights of the round it took me for ever to get the right breed combo to get a gold chocbo this was befor the internet i had to wait on a magazine lol so i was told you get pandoras box when finishing ruby wepon is that true and whats it for? @@dethtroy2185
15:38 speaking from perspective of ffxiv bosses as a whole and not just ultimates/savages/extremes, I would say Nael. Her normal raid encounter was so hard back in 2013 that it spawned a lot of memes and even was acknowledged in Endwalker, when WoL remembers her as the most traumatic experience in their life that gives them nightmares still.
Thanks to a one game streamer, Emerald Weapon can now be easily defeated. But if you are looking a challenge, put max materias on your team. It's extremely difficult but it can be done. And getting Underwater-materia from Ghost Ship removes that timer.
@@bigstopowens No, i'm talking about SourceSpy91. Check out how EW is done. It so easy that you want to laugh how Watchmojo ranked EW to be hard. If you don't know how to defeat it......then yes, it's painful boss fight.
@andrewmiller5126 plus you can mitigate Emerald Weapon's timer with materia. Coupled with W-Summon and Knoghts of the Round, it goes down pretty decently. As for Omega Weapon in FF8, it scales with the party's level, it's not at level 100 at the start.
Kefka may have caused an apocalypse, but he absolutely did *not* achieve his goal. He wanted power, yes, but he also wanted to destroy hope, create nothing but despair and sorrow, for everyone to just give up on life in a devastated world. . The very fact that between 3 and 14 people showed up to stop him is proof of his failure. Also, Omega is from 5, and so is Shinryu, both of whom are much harder than Neo-Exdeath, but I guess it's hard to get out of that "just pick the final boss" groove.
Err, Penance was released in Europe in the original version, not the HD remaster. As I faught and killed penance back in about 2006. The HD remaster contained penance for all to play later.
same here, remember to defeat him 2004. Zanmatou failed so I had to to fight around over 30 minutes. was first try but only because I did have back there the guide book from piggyback
Discounting end game OPTIONAL BOSSES: FFIV Baigan when you come out of the sewer and he appears right before Kainazzo, has 3 parts and catches you completely unaware. Had to restart the whole game. FFVII: if you didn’t expect Carry Armor to be here you probably forgot or grossly overleved. Trapped in the UWR, can’t level up and grind, and if you didn’t prepare correctly you had to restart the entire game.
Oh yes and someone already said Weigraf and I had forgotten to agree with that. Notice that all these bosses have a common motif of putting you in an almost inescapable position where you can’t grind levels and have to start the entire game over. Should be a special move tongue in cheek of them if you don’t have “restart game” resist 😂
FFXV's version of Omega was really an exhausting task, mostly because it's a bugged fight (I found myself endlessly floating in the air after a 30 minutes battle).
Mostly agree with the list. I think Zodiark is way worse than Yiazmat in FFXII with Darkja (with it’s chance of instant death) and palings that nullify your magic and physical attacks. Trying to prepare with dark-absorbing equipment makes it span Darkja even more.
kefka isn't the "only ff villain who actually succeeded in his goals". ultimecia successfully instigated time dilation in ffviii, and yu yevon had things exactly how he wanted them for 1000 years in ffx. you're also wrong about penance, he is *ONLY* in the original western releases of ffx (ffx international is the japanese release with the dark aeons & penance present) so yeah you got that backwards. no new content was introduced in the hd remasters, the changes are completely cosmetic
You'll never convince me that Emerald was a bigger issue than Ruby. Even the eastablished methods to cheese Ruby aren't consistently foolproof, and while Emerald is a powerhouse it is the much more straightforward fight of the two.
I'm going to guess that they were referencing the problem of the time limit and the fact you can't just KotR smash your way through it. That was the biggest complaint I heard when it came out, that spamming summons was a terrible idea if you weren't prepared, and that "wasn't fair".
I agree. I have beaten Emerald in every play through of FF7 I have done, but I am not always able to beat Ruby. I really hope the remakes bring back them back, I would love to them again with how good the remakes look.
Well if you didn't know the more materia you have equipped the more damage emerald does by the 1k. Would make emerald more harder. I had more difficult with emerald first time than ruby. Plus doing the w item trick made things easy with emerald. Megalixir
@@KitsuneSoup If you slot underwater materia on any character the time limit is gone. You also can't just chain summon KotR with Ruby bcuz of it's immunities. Ruby requires way more preparation and execution/strategy than brute forcing Emerald. When I fought Emerald Weapon the hardest thing was watching the KotR animations loop for 10+ minutes straight.
@apachers2807 Yes, that's what I'm saying. They took the time limit and inability to treat it like any other fight as "the hardest one", ignoring that Ruby is much harder.
Note: UCOB is considered the 4th hardest fight amongst it's tier. The 1st/2nd spots go to the Dragonsong's Reprise and The Omega Protocol, which are a whole tier above any previous Ultimate raids before them.
@@frnknstndrgqn This is gonna be a debate for they longest time. First of all if you had no guides. Ruby is way harder due to the status effects that he inflicts to your party and you have to use up 2 actions (unless you use pheonix) to revive your party. If you even include Grinding without limitations Ruby is harder. Cause you can Grind for Overflow Glitch to one shot Emerald weapon. Cant do it to Ruby due to his defence stats. But if you include Guides.... Well you figure out he is not immune to stuns..... Which well Dasers and W Summon Hades with knights of the round is just broken... But if you are at that point anyways in the game I think you would agree that you should be able to take out Emerald weapon with ease. Since you are using guides You should also know that you cant carry more then 9 Materia on you in the fight against Emerald cause of is one move that does 1k damage to you for each materia you carry on yourself. After saying all that unless you are using w-item glitches or farming a shit ton of dazers Ruby weapon is a harder fight.
it only took me a few tries to beat ruby, Emerald sucked cuz of his 9999 attack, I think the only saving grace for me in that fight was final attack. @@holokid
@@frnknstndrgqn all you really need for the fight is hp absord-Knights of the round, Counter- Mimic, Counter-Mimic. then leave the rest of the slots open cause that dumb attack where he deals damage to you based on the materia you have equipped.
The unending coil of Bahamut is not nearly as difficult as it used to be. With job level scaling its become easy to skip mechanics in new patches. The Omega Protocol or Dragonsong's Reprise are much more challenging, ultimates scaled to level cap.
Watching this i knew the comments were gonna call out Mojo on the ones it got wrong, boy was I not disappointed. My turn to chip in, as a current FF14 player. The Omega Protocol and Dragonsong Reprise are currently the hardest fights to date. Do yalls homework a little bit better, Mojo 😂
My friend who has done all of them tells me that omega protocal isnt anywhere near as hard as dsr was and i would agree to that. Dsr is insane and im still trying to prog past the thordan doorboss phase lol ucob is a joke.
If warmech was ff hardest boss, then secret enemies are allowed in this list. With this, ff6 hardest boss is Brachiosaur, the secret enemy of dinoforest. For ff5, i have no idea of how Omega was not here...his battle is an absolute nightmere no matter your party lv, also is the only enemy to break lv 99 being at lv 119.
Yep, seriously thought they were only going to do mandatory or guaranteed encounter bosses that can only be encountered once. Warmech is not only a random encounter but can be encountered multiple times. At that point, it's just a very hard normal enemy.
But its only as PITA to show up take the Pixel remaster under 4x EXP I could hit lv 99 from lv 50 after like 4 to 5 hours AND NOT encounter Warmech even once. Braciosaurs in FF6 are hardest normal enemy to kill even on the GBA version but are still fought more often then Warmech can. Omega/Shinryu FF5 are harder then the final boss and the GBA FF5 has a even HARDER Omega/Shinryu battles post game only though in the GBA version.
Yiazmat isn't hard, it just takes a while, and you can even leave the arena and come back (though it will regain health and buff itself if you're not fast enough). It's even easier in the remaster since you can break the damage limit and he's vulnerable to some debuffs.
Its not a remaster its a HD version of the international version who was released only in japan (yeah a "international" version who was released in only one country )
Late comment but for me Yiazmat was dirt easy, just wither and addle and he will literally do 50 damage an auto and cyclone will only hit you for 400. Pheonix down = any and go make a sandwich, take a dump, walk your dog and come back to win screen
For those Who wants a challenge, ffxii has two options that raises difficulty. Disabling the pause during the side menu view and maxing the battle speed in The menu... try beating zodiark with these configuration
@@marcus1979oz You can tank Trema with enough Iron Dukes, he barely does any damage. I actually had more trouble with Chac and Concherer because they become random encounters in the deeper levels and they can catch you unprepared with your garment grids and dress spheres.
I figured it out: Whoever wrote this list didn't play a FF before VII, hence the older games being almost all final bosses. Also, it looks like they just picked a meme list or "most talked about" instead of "hardest".
You can make a argument the good guys didn't necessarily win in ff7 either. Meteor still did massive damage to everything, the events of advent children, and even in the original ff7 game the ending shows humans seemingly wiped out at some future point when it shows Red XIII. The events of Remake and changing destiny let's you know the original ff7 ending wasn't a good ending.
Caius as well! He wanted Etro dead so Valhalla could merge with the world of the living and free Yeul from her faith. He being the carrier of Etro's heart convinced Noel to kill him, thus killing Etro
My first experience with a super boss was in FFXV and it was with Adamantoise. I know there are like two other super bosses in that game, one of em' being a death machine that was immune to everything except magic, so think, it's been a while now. But Adamantoise took me two hours to beat.
In final fantasy 5 the hardest boss is omega. i just finished the game and beat every boss (even shinryu) but i couldnt defeat omega. Hes too powerfull.
I actually love X-2. But I hated fighting Major Numerus. It just seems like it's almost impossible to beat without using Hero Drinks or invincibility. Matter of fact, I had to pretty much cheese all the superbosses. The game is fun overall. But in order to get Almighty Shinra, I ended up just cheesing him with a maxed out Guardian Beast. Then with Trema I just used Yuna and Almighty Shinra. And for Major Numerus, Mushroom Cloud and Almighty Shinra. The overall concept of creatures was cool, but I just wish you could actually control them other than just changing the star amount. If I was fighting Major Numerus, I usually just put the controller down and did something else lol so i didn't really feel any sense of pride, I suppose.
This video is only 2 months old, so it should be known FF14 UCoB stopped being the hardest ultimate in the game a long time ago. Omega ultimate holds that title proudly
@@ActuallyWoogie I know. I’ve been playing this game since 1.0, since the very beginning. I know what I’m talking about. 😘 I assume you got UCOB (ultimate coil of bahamut, first ultimate raid of FF14 that released during stormblood) mixed up with the final coil of bahamut aka T13 (final 8 man raid boss of ARR).
I know Final Fantasy Tactics doesn’t count, but Cúchulainn the Impure, the boss from Lionel Castle and holder of the Scorpion Zodiac stone, definitely deserves an honorable mention. There are for sure harder bosses than him in the franchise, but how many of them forced tons of gamers to start the game over from a previous save slot, or even from the beggining of the game if they didn’t take the tried and trie advice of keeping multiple saves?
The Emerald Weapon from *Final Fantasy 7/VII* is definitely and totally one of THE Most Toughest Bosses I've ever fought, along with Omega Weapon from *Final Fantasy 8/VIII,* Zeromus from *Final Fantasy 4/IV,* Ozma from *Final Fantasy 9/IX,* Penance from *Final Fantasy 10/X,* Absolute Virtue from *Final Fantasy 11/XI,* Yiazmet from *Final Fantasy 12/XII,* Bhunivelze from *Final Fantasy 13/XIII,* The Unending Recoil of Bahamut from *Final Fantasy 14/XIV: A Realm Reborn,* Adamantoise from *Final Fantasy 15/XV* and Ultima from *,Final Fantasy 16/XVI.* How can we all try taking out these monstrosities from the *Final Fantasy* franchise?!
I agree with most of the list (I never fought Warmech…in fact I honestly didn’t know he existed…). I haven’t personally fought Absolute Virtue…but his difficulty is legendary. Zeromus was never really difficult for me (though I do remember having those ultimate weapons from the optional moon dungeons…so might be a part of a remake?). Emerald Weapon was a bit of a toss up for me…he is ridiculously tough, but I always found Ruby Weapon to be a bit of a tougher challenge (despite the constant time pressure of Emerald). Maybe it’s just me? No contest for your picks on FFX-FFXV…I’ll be in therapy over a few of those lol…Loved the video, btw! 😁👍 Which would be your pick for hardest of the series (including/excluding remakes/spin-offs)? That would definitely be an interesting debate amongst the most dedicated gamers. 😁
@@P3ndaAd3m but with Yizmat you could leave and come back and his HP wouldn't regenerate, so you could whittle him down over time. Omega.... there's nowhere to run
In the original he we would regenerate hp and had his hp nerfed due to how long it'd take. I remember playing the original on the PS2 with multiple zodiac spears, (found an area back when there was no guide in the dungeon in the forest forget the name that would rare drop it) and even than it was a encounter that took so much time. Omega mk was more of a nailbiter with his high attack but with good gambits it was doable

Warmech's a random encounter, not a boss. Omega and Shinryu are both tougher than Neo Ex Death. And Ruby Weapon's technically harder to get over than Emerald Weapon. One could also argue that there are harder fights in VI than Kefka, especially if you play the GBA version's Redux Dragons and Kaiser Dragon. Otherwise, I either can't help but agree, or can't be bothered to care.
Its consider as superboss only in ff1 nes and ps1 because it was even harder than chaos.. remakes like DoS and 20th anniv. make warmech like a normal encounter with high stats, high exp and rare encounter
I don't know why Emerald Weapon is considered the hardest in FFVII, like have you ever tried beating Ruby? That's the real beast because it does a lot more than just hit hard which is all Emerald does.
I remember trying to fight omega weapon in 8. I then received a call from a paramedic that my grandmother was being rushed to the hospital and i had to take down the info quick so i could call my mom at work. I just sat there after the call unable to play. An hour later i got a call from my older brother that she had passed away. I remember picking up ff8 again and beating it at some point, but i never went back for Omega.
I always thought because it can one shot you, that Bounty Dragon you need to fight being the most difficult (First Playthrough) since it's at max level and what was mentioned before. At least I am not the only one to think Ultima wasn't the hardest but probably the easier of the fights to go through.
Everyone always talks about the time limit for the Emerald Weapon fight but. There's actually an item you can equip that removes the time limit letting you take all the time you need. And it very easy to find.
even withou guide not hard to find. The old man in Calm, the one who gives you the golden chocobo as reward for defeating ruby weapon is telling you this. As far I remember
The most difficult optional boss in FF15 is Omega. There are a series of things you have to do before it will appear and then it nerfs pretty much all damage from normal attacks. Adamantoise is considerably easier and a lot quicker to defeat with the introduction of the Ragnarok sword, which came as the same time as Omega's introduction into the game.
oh this must be what the royal edition version i have is about, i hav'nt played ff15 yet but it's installed and updated ready to go lol i'm just playing dragon age inquisition at the moment and this feels lengthy.
@@gazster unless you can find an original copy of the game and not install any of the updates, the Royal version has a whole different end dungeon sequence than the original.
What about elmdor in tactics? And i feel like you must mention culex from mario rpg as he is technically a "final fantasy" boss he just happens to be trapped in the mario world temporarily
The list was fine til VI, Kefka's final boss fight is cool but not hard, by the time you recruit everyone and have explored a decent chunk of the World of Ruin, he's pretty easy. His first boss fight in Narshe is harder.
The list kind of fucked up with FF5 as well. Shinryu and Omega are way harder FF5 bosses than Neo Exdeath. It's not that they're hard to find either. I'm confused as to how they missed that.
Uploader should've done more research if he thinks these are the hardest bosses in FF history. I don't see a single reference to Omega, Shinryu or even Omega Protocol ultimate.
Yiazmat.. even with best preparation it took me 2 hours 40 minutes at best to defeat it (playing PS2 version since 2008) Omega Mark XII... Most dangerous, it could evaporate your party in no time if you're careless Zodiarc... Definitely in my top 5, if you don't have opal rings and absorb dark, game over is waving
@@drcheesecak3 Yes, yiazmat is less dangerous than omega mark or zodiarc, but aside from being a long battle, yiazmat casts growing threat when HP is low which means he doubles his level from 72 to 144, he becomes much tougher, twice faster, stronger and also his attacks has death-touch and your damage is capped to 6999
Adamantoise just had lots of HP, nothing but warp to eye -> do attacks -> warp away to recover and repeat. Leaving out DLC, Naglfar was the hardest Boss in 15.
Agreed Beating Noctis in the Expansion is much harder and so is Omega Weapon (although they're not really hard sadly) Adamantoise is just high health hopefully Square picks up in the DLC for XVI too since nothing challenged me there either
Adamantoise was originally immune to the ring, same for the mega mech that drops the v2 suit (which is another enemy by far harder than the Adamantoise) Omega is probably the hardest boss in the game, although his reward is brilliant. I remember using max str gear with the rare metal and clairvoyant buff to nuke the adamantoise in like 2 mins, on average it was much faster than the R(ing)NG OHKO.
Hm, how very interesting, I wonder what might get added in the Future? Also, I wonder how this would look like if all Games(Mainstream or otherwise) were included?
Yep, because unlike Adamantoise you cannot cheese Omega and his stats are total bullshit. Massive HP pool, extreme DPS and he has complete immunity to everything but Holy but even that is like 90% resis it's such a dumb fight. Even FROM would look at that go "can you dial it back a little?"
Odin was RIDICULOUS in FF16. Especially the final phase. From drawing a tik tak toe board, to turning into a flying beyblade. If it wasn’t for mid battle check points replenishing your health and items he would’ve been a wall for me to deal with. I never felt like I’d lose to Ultima though
I Will never forget me a child defeated Emerald with Cait Sith is limit break, I used to love the cat and after this he became my favorite character of ff7
Playing for the 1st time + Chapter 3 + no possibility of powering your group (getting stuck in this boss), only 2 words and a HUGE nightmare Wiegraf/Velius.
Why is everyone saying that the FF8 Junction System (9:10) is confusing? I find it to be one of the easyer ones. Unlock stat via Summon, junction a magic spell in that stat (Strong magics into MAG, Status spells into the status junction and so on). Pretty easy. I find it more weird, that you can beat the game without leveling at all because the enemys scale to your max lvl character
I remember fighting Omega weapon (ff8) over 20 years ago, and either you had to stay immune to damage with holy war items or die. I don't know if it gets harder than be invincible or die.
i beat Yiazmat after 5 hours of attacking and saving... that stupid dragon doesn't just have a ridiculous amount of HP, but will fooking reduce your damage once he gets weak. 😭😭😭😭😭
I just replayed/finished FF1 again yesterday. Warmech isn't that bad once you get NulBlaze and Protera up. Just have to Healga/ra every turn and chip away at him.
That boss in the tower who casts ultima on death will ALWAYS wipe an unprepared player. Someone had to tell me that Life 3 would kick in after the fight or I would have never beaten him.
on the DS version of ff3, there are optional bosses harder then the final boss. one of them being a sea snake you could not inflict physical damage upon even with the best gear in the game. the second optional boss doesent hit 2 times each turn. it hit 4 times. it has 400k something HP if memory serves correctly. and you need to be dual wielding shields with every party member in order to survive. because in order to win, your job is not to do damage. but to survive through out the fight.
At 6:10 , I have to disagree with your claim that Kefka was a "hardest boss", let alone "difficult" to beat. If you have the Genji Glove and the Offering relics, you are dealing 8x9999 damage to Kefka with ONE toon. And then you just need the Gem Box + Economizer to deal two Ultimas in a row for 2x9999. Kefka is defeated by the end of the first round turn order. These relics are not too difficult to get either. Every other monster you listed, however, I am 100% in agreement with each of them. Great video! :)
1. I liked the way Tifa posed end of battle 2. Penace is 10 times easier than the Chocobo Catcher... 3. I have platinum all FF I-X-2 and Last Mission- skipped XII due to Concurrence. 4. Trying to finish XIII series, but got bored. Now playing MGS Collection until im ready to continue FF XIII
Was there any research done for this video? Emerald weapons 20 minutes is negated by just equpping underwater materia, and without cheesing ruby weapon, that fight is so, SO much harder than emerald. Shinryu is was harder in FF5.
That's why I could never play most RPGs as a kid. Way too hard and took way too much time. I couldn't have done that.
Wut? The hell?
Yep, thank you for saying it.
F that fight with Seymour he's such a pain.
Easily the toughest required boss the first time through.
Agree. Imo the toughest fights without prior knowledge are him and Yunalesca. The difference between them is when you know Yunalesca’s strat she’s so easy… but Flux is still a douche 😂

I was expecting ruby weapon too. So many hours/days I spent in my youth to defeat that damn boss. Only for a downgraded gold chocobo lol.

UCoB is way outshined by other ultimates. Even some of more recent savages can be more difficult since they have both mechs and dps checks, while UCoB has basically no dps check these days.
Actually Ex death (and Neo Exdeath) is not the hardest boss in FFV, that honour goes to Omega or Shinryu.
Facts
Totally agree. Exdeath and Neo Exdeath can be beaten with a good leveled team, jobs and gears. But Omega needs specific setting to stand a chance. Besides, Omega is quick and highly punitive. And, well, Exdeath is not, definitely.
Literally what I was thinking lol
True. Omega just frickin deletes one character and counterattacks everything. That thing was a real menace.
This, Exdeath is a joke himself, easy in my opinion with a good leveled party, even Ghilgamesh is way harder than him.
Ardyn also, technically, accomplished his goals. He only wanted the gods to fail and end the Lucis bloodline.
For FFX, if not prepared or leveled up high enough, Yunalesca would have been a nightmare.
Jecht was way harder in this case

I don't remember much from that game since I played the first & only walkthrough in a loonnngggg time but damn, it has some tough bosses. Next after next and another. Grinding back and forth, repeat.
Kefka: Lvl Sabin to Lv 99 maxing his STR. Equip Him with Gengi Glove + Offering (Master's Scroll) and you can attack 8 times. But if you use the spell "quick" you can have two turns at once. It means 16 attacks dealing 9999 damage each, killing him in just one turn. :)
That was what I did during every run. I loved Sabin with Gengi Glove + offering!
Honestly, that stage of the fight, he's only got 60k health. By that stage it should be fairly trivial even without the more extreme combinations or rare Relics or high leveled characters.
Alternate is Genji Glove + Offering with 2 Atma Weapons at max level, ignores any defense and can drop 80k damage on any enemy in one turn.
@@jeffy210Where'd you get the second Atma weapon from?
Kefka is not the hardest.
FF5: Omega and Shinryu are far more dangerous than Exdeath
FF7: Ruby is harder than Emerald
Ardyn won too just saying, helped end the Lucis line and he was able to finally die. Those were his literal goals.
Caius too
@Baiken In Final Fantasy II there's barely a world left to save.

@@LightbladeRiulo Yeah, when WatchMojo said they were only focusing on mainline games and then said that I facepalmed.

I was very disappointed this wasn't mentioned in the video.
He straight-up cheats. When you put in a command, his ATB bar fills completely, and he gets his turn off before yours does. The only way to get around it is to input your commands during his spell animations.
Unsurprising given how little this video seems to actually know.
For me that someone was my older brother. Don't know where he heard it from. Was there any way to survive that Ultima without using Life 3?

Adamantoise wasn't even that hard of a boss in XV, Omega was harder, also... Dragonsong's Reprise was harder than Unending Coils of Bahamut
Did u fight Omega in 15? He was way harder

Who gets to Penance unprepared? Seymour on Gagazet is much harder or even Yunalesca.
I feel like Emerald and Ruby weapons in 7 should be tied, because yes there are strategies people can use to beat them, but it doesn't detract from the fact both are tough in their own ways.

Thanks to a one game streamer, Emerald Weapon can now be easily defeated. But if you are looking a challenge, put max materias on your team. It's extremely difficult but it can be done. And getting Underwater-materia from Ghost Ship removes that timer.

There's so much wrong with this video I don't even know where to start.
I'm only 4 minutes into the video and I have to agree. From his mispronunciation of melee to his listing Zeromus instead of FFIV's superbosses.

Discounting end game OPTIONAL BOSSES:
FFIV Baigan when you come out of the sewer and he appears right before Kainazzo, has 3 parts and catches you completely unaware.
Gonna take a wild guess and say that this guy has even't played 80% of these games and hasn't fought any of these bosses
I know these are just final bosses that aren't even that hard😂
I feel like this was written by AI
There is an item that allows you to breathe underwater for the Emerald weapon fight, it's a materia I believe. Ruby was way harder.
it took me wayyyy longer to beat emerald weapon ruby was cake compared to that.

Was yiazmat actually hard or just long? Had much more issues with zodiark

Kefka isn’t the only villain that got what he actually wanted, Ardyn as well from ff 15 got what he wanted too in the end

He said ff14 A Realm Reborn….
@@ActuallyWoogie Ucob didn’t come out in a realm
Reborn. Your response is invalid. Ucob came out during stormblood :)
@@elowei9919its literally under the AAR raid drop down…
Edit I looked it up. You are right its from SB
@@ActuallyWoogie I know. I’ve been playing this game since 1.0, since the very beginning. I know what I’m talking about. 😘
I assume you got UCOB (ultimate coil of bahamut, first ultimate raid of FF14 that released during stormblood) mixed up with the final coil of bahamut aka T13 (final 8 man raid boss of ARR).
@@elowei9919 lol yeah this is exactly what I did
I know Final Fantasy Tactics doesn’t count, but Cúchulainn the Impure, the boss from Lionel Castle and holder of the Scorpion Zodiac stone, definitely deserves an honorable mention.
There are for sure harder bosses than him in the franchise, but how many of them forced tons of gamers to start the game over from a previous save slot, or even from the beggining of the game if they didn’t take the tried and trie advice of keeping multiple saves?
I'm one of those!
Nah man. I had to redo the Cúchulainn the Impure once then beat the second go around. Velius on the other hand, wrecked me. A lot.
Which would be your pick for hardest of the series (including/excluding remakes/spin-offs)? That would definitely be an interesting debate amongst the most dedicated gamers. 😁
How is exdeath harder than omega or shinryu in ff5?
He is not.
Came here to see if anyone else caught this. This is a pretty big knowledge deficit on the part of the video.
@@Supersmartandfunnyguy The whole video is a massive knowledge deficit.
Ruby was far more difficult than Emerald! I had to hit him with Knights of the Round like 7 million times! 😂
If you think Yiazmat is harder than Omega MK than you haven't played 12.
Omega is a hard boss but have not the most huge amount of HP of the franchise i understand their choice on this one ^^
@@robwalsh8975 I was going to call bullshit on taht but I looked it up and you are correct. Apparently there is a chest in the Phase 2 Dig sight of the Henne Mines that has a 10% chance to even spawn and there is another 10% chance for it to contain the spear so a 1/1000 chance of you actually getting a Zodiac Spear as long as you ave the Diamond Armlet equipped,
I always love watching these videos, to really see if they have actually played a final fantasy game
These mojo ff lists are always written and narrated by people who have never played a single game in the franchise
I feel like this was written by AI
I remember trying to fight omega weapon in 8. I then received a call from a paramedic that my grandmother was being rushed to the hospital and i had to take down the info quick so i could call my mom at work.
I just sat there after the call unable to play. An hour later i got a call from my older brother that she had passed away. I remember picking up ff8 again and beating it at some point, but i never went back for Omega.
I found Ultima easy in FF16. It was Barnabas who was kicking my ass
I always thought because it can one shot you, that Bounty Dragon you need to fight being the most difficult (First Playthrough) since it's at max level and what was mentioned before. At least I am not the only one to think Ultima wasn't the hardest but probably the easier of the fights to go through.
Svarog was the only really hard fight I ran into personally
@@Malacite that's exactly the monster I was talking about. I died 3 times fighting it. Those were the only times I died playing the game.
That’s because the old fight was heavily influenced by the final boss, and devil, may cry 3
Totally agree! My first playthrough Svarog was the toughest for me to beat. On final fantasy mode Barnabas was the toughest for me to beat.
What another awesome video done by the team at WatchMojo keep up good work guys
Is long gui really harder than the cieth monster vermathorax or whatever?
Not a chance.
Vercingetorix , two Raktavijas , Attacus were way harder - for me personaly
Shinryu is easily tougher that either form of ExDeath in 5.
This. I died to Shinryu multiple times the first time I encountered him I didn't die to either form of Exdeath once.
Everyone always talks about the time limit for the Emerald Weapon fight but. There's actually an item you can equip that removes the time limit letting you take all the time you need. And it very easy to find.
Use morph on the ghost ship to get it.
Very easy without guide 😂
even withou guide not hard to find. The old man in Calm, the one who gives you the golden chocobo as reward for defeating ruby weapon is telling you this. As far I remember
Neoexdeath is the HARDEST boss in FF5? Are you kidding?? Did you try Omega?
The most difficult optional boss in FF15 is Omega. There are a series of things you have to do before it will appear and then it nerfs pretty much all damage from normal attacks. Adamantoise is considerably easier and a lot quicker to defeat with the introduction of the Ragnarok sword, which came as the same time as Omega's introduction into the game.
Was going to say this
was he in the Pitioss Ruins?
@@Aristaios no, it's in the Insomnia Ruins. There are no fights in Pitioss
oh this must be what the royal edition version i have is about, i hav'nt played ff15 yet but it's installed and updated ready to go lol i'm just playing dragon age inquisition at the moment and this feels lengthy.
He said at the beginning that this video is only for the mainline games, and that sequels and spin offs will have a separate video for them.
For tactics I think you meant Velius/Wiegraf. Elmdor wasn't that hard compared to Cúchulainn or Velius.
The hardest one I recall is in Final Fantasy 12 and was Zodiark, Keeper of Precepts.
Yiazmat.. even with best preparation it took me 2 hours 40 minutes at best to defeat it (playing PS2 version since 2008)
Omega Mark XII... Most dangerous, it could evaporate your party in no time if you're careless
Zodiarc... Definitely in my top 5, if you don't have opal rings and absorb dark, game over is waving
@@taroupriapus9760 i personally dont think yiazmat was hard at all, just long, very long
@@drcheesecak3
Yes, yiazmat is less dangerous than omega mark or zodiarc, but aside from being a long battle, yiazmat casts growing threat when HP is low which means he doubles his level from 72 to 144, he becomes much tougher, twice faster, stronger and also his attacks has death-touch and your damage is capped to 6999
Adamantoise just had lots of HP, nothing but warp to eye -> do attacks -> warp away to recover and repeat. Leaving out DLC, Naglfar was the hardest Boss in 15.
I mean...the adamantoise in 15 is indeed hard, but it can be one shot with the ring...so it's also got the potential to be a super simple boss too
not many people knew about the ring until later. If I didn't use a guide I wouldn't have known it myself.
Adamantoise in 15 isn't hard it just takes forever. Time doesn't mean Difficulty necessarily.
Agreed Beating Noctis in the Expansion is much harder and so is Omega Weapon (although they're not really hard sadly)
Adamantoise is just high health
hopefully Square picks up in the DLC for XVI too since nothing challenged me there either
Adamantoise was originally immune to the ring, same for the mega mech that drops the v2 suit (which is another enemy by far harder than the Adamantoise)
Omega is probably the hardest boss in the game, although his reward is brilliant.
I’d say omega is probably the hardest in xv. Adamantoise is easy it just has a lot of hp.
I don’t think ffXVI bosses are hard, rather tedious due to their gigantic amount of health.
Haven't played it yet, but the gameplay video of kefkas fight I saw is ridiculously long. And it's song is 17 minutes long 💀
@@pogethedogethere is a Kefka boss fight in 16?
@@88walka thought he said VI my bad
i love final fantasy 16 so much
Do you even combo?
I Will never forget me a child defeated Emerald with Cait Sith is limit break, I used to love the cat and after this he became my favorite character of ff7
Ff8 being my first introduction to the series. Omega weapon lvl 100 was insane for my first play.
Playing for the 1st time + Chapter 3 + no possibility of powering your group (getting stuck in this boss), only 2 words and a HUGE nightmare
Wiegraf/Velius.
That fight was INSANE.
I find it easy too. Avoiding leveling up through carding and running is hard at first, but the game becomes insanely easy later on.
they skip the tutorial and spam G.Fs all day, that's how
I remember fighting Omega weapon (ff8) over 20 years ago, and either you had to stay immune to damage with holy war items or die. I don't know if it gets harder than be invincible or die.
A video like this really needs chapters.
i beat Yiazmat after 5 hours of attacking and saving... that stupid dragon doesn't just have a ridiculous amount of HP, but will fooking reduce your damage once he gets weak. 😭😭😭😭😭
I just replayed/finished FF1 again yesterday. Warmech isn't that bad once you get NulBlaze and Protera up. Just have to Healga/ra every turn and chip away at him.
Looking forward to when you add rebirth to this list. Some of the hard mode fights are insane
Didn't know penance wasn't in US version, good for them!
Kefka wasnt the only one, ardyn also fulfilled his goals
Kefka? Really? By the time you get to him in FFVI, even in a casual playthrough, you’ll usually be so overpowered he’s laughably easy.
The fact he ignored the Kaiser Dragon is rather disgraceful.
Warmech might just be the first videogame superboss.
1. I liked the way Tifa posed end of battle
I just did the 7777 trick for Emerald. it was harder to get the party to that HP than to actually beat him at that point
Ruby > emerald.
Shinryu > Exdeath
I would never solo fight Emerald Weapon because the AP is so high; you can master a bunch of materia after winning that fight.
One wrong move with Penance, and the dominoes start to fall.
Was there any research done for this video?
Emerald weapons 20 minutes is negated by just equpping underwater materia, and without cheesing ruby weapon, that fight is so, SO much harder than emerald.
Shinryu is was harder in FF5.
