X is a game people love or hate, usually. I'm a fan, personally. I like how you can take time to think about your turns in that game. It's also fun to be a summon, like Ifrit. If you have some time, I suggest giving it a playthrough. The music is excellent, if nothing else.
Loved Rebirth but it's pretty disappointing that they turned Heavy Tank into a regular ole dinosaur. (It's called Maloceros in English. In Japanese it's called Heavy Tank). It's also disappointing that Ghirofelgo isn't in Rebirth either. Shinra Mansion ended up being disappointing overall. But at least they gave us weird Lost Number enemy from the locked safe in the original.
I'll never forget the first time I ran into one of those Demon Monoliths in FFX. I felt pretty strong at that point, my party was leveled up, we were rockin' and rollin' through the game, and then I get a random encounter with one of those. It looks so stupid and I figured easy win. 20 seconds later I had a game over as my whole party was turned to stone. I pretty much ran from every battle with them from that point on.
I remember level-grinding in Gongaga on the Heavy Tanks and summoning Titan over and over to instantly one-shot them. I vaguely remember there was a free healing point nearby, but I could be wrong.
I think the Ragtime Mouse would be a perfect addition to FFXIV’s Gold Saucer. Pit 3 players against each other or NPCs in a Jeopardy style true or false game and winner takes big moneys.
4:20 I am inclined to believe that is a tapir with a lady riding on it. Seeing how eastern folklore often associates them with incense or smoke and the ability to come into dreams it may not be too far fetched to think the rider may be an illusion made of smoke to allure unsuspecting victims so the real enemy, the tapir, can feast upon their dreams. Examples of this can be found in Pokemon with Drowzee, Hypno, Munna and Musharna. As well as in Digimon with the digimon Tapirmon (known in japan as Bakumon). Seeing how it uses skills that damage the player, while recovering itself akin to feeding off as well as it being found within the dreamscape I believe gives creedence to my hypothesis.
Fighting through the wondrous Cave of Life. Eerie music, strange, gigantic plants, an ancient place unseen by human eyes in thousands of--oh look, a brony. "Hi...I'm Christopher..."
One of the best materia in the game is in that burnt out reactor near the triceratank. 2x Cut. It's..amazing. You can do 9999 multiple times with it, and it upgrades to 4x cut eventually. It also turns into the less useful Slash which is an instant battle finisher, but in a game where the damage caps at 9999 multi-hit attacks are king.
That Warning Board in the Shinra Building. Just yells, "Warning! Warning!", and shoots either a gun, laser, or spawns random early enemies. It's the sheer randomness of the big sign with the stop "✋️", in the middle of it like some wet floor warning sign, that sent me the first time I saw it. What a blatant way to realize you are trespassing in a high profile building! 😂 Shinra really installed these giant ass Warning boards in their building on the top floors? 😂😂😂
I'd like to see a top 7 of different boss battles or fights that change the way the story can progress if you win or lose. Like the Chocobo Eater in final fantasy 10 gives different cut scenes and routes depending on if you beat it or if it shoves you off the cliff🎉
Vlakorados from FF7 always springs to mind for me. Found in a very small section of the overworld it is incredibly weak and useless despite sporting 33,333 hp, which when you can first fight it is more than nearly any boss you've fought up to that point. Fascinated me as a kid that some random enemy that barely posed a threat to my midgame level party managed to take more of a beating than anything I had faced up to that point.
Considering its relevance to the story (Zack), as well as having some decent shops, finding the Titan summon, and fighting & stealing from Rude & Reno, and also being a grinding spot for those Power Sources, it's certainly not something you SHOULD skip, unless you're a speedrunner.
@@Nanobot1989 Yeah. I completely skipped it the first time I played the game except for right after Temple of the Ancients. I just didn't know it was even there until then.

That SE executive in FFXV
would be hilarious if Heavy Tank was called Tankceratops and shilled it's merchandise in battle
*sees Tomberry
*screams in terror
I learned a lot. Great list!
I think the Ragtime Mouse would be a perfect addition to FFXIV’s Gold Saucer. Pit 3 players against each other or NPCs in a Jeopardy style true or false game and winner takes big moneys.
I think FF7 is a little played out, but I LOVE this idea. Well said!
Slapper's name in the French translation is Jason.
Love these videos. Keep them up.
The house is just a mimic
Thank you for another great video!!
The best obscure nonsense enemy is FFVII's Christopher, it's just some dude named Christopher.
And his pet goat?
Absolutely!
Ghirofelgo too, that thing is odd, but I suppose in the location of the Shinra mansion, perhaps it makes sense.
Fighting through the wondrous Cave of Life. Eerie music, strange, gigantic plants, an ancient place unseen by human eyes in thousands of--oh look, a brony.
"Hi...I'm Christopher..."
Magic pot is definitely one of the more interesting enemies. Usually have to feed it an elixir in exchange for someghing extremely valuable.
I think Heavy Tank was supposed to be a boss originally. One of Shinra's experiments to guard the reactor.
I think the Rider's beast is a tapir or a Baku. It does look reptile like though.
😂😂😂
A full FFVII rundown would be great
I think the gaelicat was there first attempt for Cait-Sith. With the Cat Sith legends being a Gaelic cat.
Yep. Play on words, Gaelic and cat mashed together, it was certainly their first foray into using the Cait-Sith/Cat-sith/Cat Si folklore.
Fossil Elvoret on the back of the Demonolith - that one blew my mind.
I'd like to see a top 7 of different boss battles or fights that change the way the story can progress if you win or lose. Like the Chocobo Eater in final fantasy 10 gives different cut scenes and routes depending on if you beat it or if it shoves you off the cliff🎉
Suplexing a train makes FF6 the best Final Fantasy.
Lmao I think I've never seen those ice skaters in FF8
SE looked at us Canadians and juste went " HOCKEY PLAYERS AS ENEMIES"
FF12 also kind of had a demon wall boss? I remember being stuck on it for ages
Yup. 2 Demon Walls, an OP optional one you can run from or beat if you've power leveled, and a mandatory one that's much easier to beat.
5:05 "She was considered to be too alluring" man the past was something else lmao. Yeah those 3 pixels of midriff are pretty provocative I guess lol.
Wasn't there also a demon wall, or something like it, in FF12?
One optional and one story, yes
Yep, in the Tomb of Raithwall, I believe
It's at the end of the video
Gremlins in FF7 doing BAD MOUTH. Where it literally throw out curse words at you and it'll make you sad.
Who's the redhead when he's talking about interviews at the beginning I feel like I recognize her
It's Hollie Bennett she used to be on PS Access
Ready for the Heavy Dino Tank to get the Hell House treatment for Rebirth.
Tankceratop need to be given the Hellhouse treatment in Rebirth
It just needs to be called Tankceratops
@@arbetor12 Did i miss it? I completed everything in Gongagaga and never found a monster like it.
I never knew Gongaga was an optional area
Only kinda. No matter what after temple of ancients you get sent there. But besides that yea it’s optional.
@@Nanobot1989 i see
Considering its relevance to the story (Zack), as well as having some decent shops, finding the Titan summon, and fighting & stealing from Rude & Reno, and also being a grinding spot for those Power Sources, it's certainly not something you SHOULD skip, unless you're a speedrunner.
@@Nanobot1989 Yeah. I completely skipped it the first time I played the game except for right after Temple of the Ancients. I just didn't know it was even there until then.
Alluring Rider appears to be riding a monsterized tapir. Tapir have folklore associated with dreams. The pokemon Drowzee is designed after tapir and eats dreams
If i recall, demon wall was featured in more games that don't seem like they were mentioned, 2 i can think of off the top of my head are ff12 and ff14
Heavy tank is needed for power sources makes it so easy
Galbadia Garden Canonically Canadian Confirmed!
