Grazie for your perspective on this. You raise many good points. I am in Firenze so I understand what I hear is likely different than other parts of the country, but here, from folks like cab drivers and store owners, I get asked once a day “But what is wrong with the Americans that they could support such a man?” That said, given the rightward trend in Italian politics, perhaps your prediction is correct. As has been shown with support for Meloni and the Fratelli d’Italia, hostile anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ, and neo-fascist rhetoric is sadly resonating here with far too many people. At the same time, Italy also has a strong tradition of anti-fascism and governmental support for public services (healthcare, transportation, education, etc). I think if Italians knew more about Trump’s actual ideas, many would think differently. Case in point: Would Italians want to give up our national healthcare system for a totally private one? I think not! People are already worried about the costs of newly imposed co-pays for some services. I’ve lived under both systems and when I explain that in the US we pay hundreds of dollars each month just for the insurance itself, and that health insurance plans have a pre-set deductable, meaning we have to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket annually (which is non-refundable) before the insurance coverage even kicks in, they are shocked. Another thing that I don’t think would be popular here in a country that is relatively safe and which has very little gun violence is Trump’s support of widespread and uncontrolled gun ownership. And how about retirement pensions - would Italians want their pensions privatized, totally at the whim of the stock market? Again, I think not. There’s much more but these are just a few examples. But as I said at the start, my fear is that the current anti-immigrant frenzy would cloud judgment and might take precedence. 😢

However, as I meet and speak to people, from every ethnicity, in the inner cities whose taxes are going out to others that were let into the country, and have been highly effected by the high cost of living, by enormous high rent hikes, groceries, and monthly bills they are voting for the man.
I am not voting for either one but Jill Stein instead. I agree with the one gentleman who said he wished America had stronger leadership. I wish we did too but we have weak or mediocre leadership at best in my opinion. Our choices in America are not that good. It’s like picking the lesser among evils.
It's an Italian and generally a European complex, thinking that using the first name is diminutive. Has to do with their classist system, with land owners calling peasants by first name, while workers would address their landlords by last name. It does't make sense everywhere, but Italy was a kingdom until receent times and it makes sense to their feudal minds
It's not only in Italy or even Europe. Many people in America had made the same observation, that women politicians are more likely to be referred to by their given names, and that is belittling.
False. During his presidency, Trump launched airstrikes on Syria under the claim of taking down ISIS. He escalated hostilities with Iran, ordering Iranian General Soleimani to be wiped out. Moreover, during the Trump presidency, Putin had already invaded Ukraine, illegally annexed Crimea and de facto started the war with Russian troops on Ukrainian territory, killings of Ukrainian civilians by Russian soldiers and shelling of Ukrainian cities in the Donbas region by Russian forces. Trump said nothing about all this. He was fine with it.
From a non voter of the italian democratic party, I'd like to know when such party leader said that they wanted to delete borders or that they wanted to open the borders for any immigrant. It never happened, this is a very personal picture of Italian politic. Which is a total mess for sure. But this analysis is very, very, very personal. BTW, the treaties with Libia to stop the ships of immigrants was an idea of minster Minni ti, democratic party.
As an Italian man 74 years old I would vote for Trump. But not owing to right or left that mean nothing today. The real struggle is between globalism and localism, real interests of people and interests of few oligarchs who call themselves philanthropists. Trump isn't perfect, but his alliance with Kennedy (and Tulsi Gabbard and Elon Musk) is very good and promising as for striking globalism, eternal wars, wokism, gender fluid theories, transhumanism and health totalitarianism. Kamala is an ally of this garbage with friends such as Bill Gates or Soros. The battle is ideal and philosophical not only political or economical and so this election is very important for the future, not only of USA or the western world.

I deeply respect the contributions of the Italian people and the Italian country, however Italians should probably focus more on results rather than perception. Trump got results. NATO became more self-sufficient and stronger while he was president. Ukraine and Israel were at peace while Trump presided. I am glad Italians feel secure because of the American fleet in the Mediterranean, but the United States is already almost $36T in debt. If Italians want to continue to feel secure, they must do more for their own security. If Italians want to be more of an equal partner to the United States, they must correctly place themselves as our equals. I would challenge your statement that your press "follow the American elections with a tremendous level of accuracy", rather I would ask the Italian people to consider that perhaps your press is suffering from the same myopia that infects our American press because of their hubris, elitism, internal pressure for group think and unhealthy desire for control and power.
I really respect your point, seriously. I genuinely think, tough, that Italians would seriously need the Americans to stop protecting us. For decades have been used to the fact that we do not have to think about our security, our role in the Mediterrean and we were just keeping us busy with our aperitivos. Now History is knocking at our door step and we better wake up
Luca, mi piacciono sempre moltissimo i tuoi video!
I don’t care about what happens in America because I don’t live there or intend to visit, but I care what happens around the world and if Trump is willing to stop the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East I would vote for him.

This, with all due respect, is a very standard italian comment. We do not get the geopolitical aspects of the world. @HowtoItaly-2004 assolutamente. Ti rispondo in italiano che faccio prima. Sono bilingue dalla nascita. Seguo tutti gli outlet. Italiani, britannici e americani (i maggiori, almeno). Potrei andare avanti all'infinito.

As I drive along university towns in my state, I see the support for the woman candidate.

I kind of agree with you
It's not only in Italy or even Europe. Many people in America had made the same observation, that women politicians are more likely to be referred to by their given names, and that is belittling.
Vote for Trump, with him there was a period of peace with Russia which ended with the Democrats. Europe does not want war with Russia.

I think many americans have a similar vision.

I think the answer to the question depends on who you ask.
That is for sure
Now History is knocking at our door step and we better wake up
The B R I C S currency should be supported, in my opinion

Luca, mi piacciono sempre moltissimo i tuoi video!

Here in Italy the media (rai, sky and la7) fail to give a fair picture of the US election. They are all on Kamala's side, no matter what.
@@danielknight-r4z do you think so?
@HowtoItaly-2004 assolutamente. Ti rispondo in italiano che faccio prima. Sono bilingue dalla nascita. Seguo tutti gli outlet. Italiani, britannici e americani (i maggiori, almeno).
Potrei andare avanti all'infinito.
