Was a great draft for us, not perfect but for content go ahead and pick it apart. We got Thunder & Lightning in the backfield , picked my favorite wr in Corely, and grabbed a QB that can heal and learn behind Rodgers and Taylor. The UDFA from Miami is a beast.
The good part about Travis is that he improved every year from the year before. He played 6 years, seems mature and was also a team captain. Contrast that from Zach who was a bit immature, and was not a team captain. Also the level of competition for Travis was much higher than it was for Zach coming out of BYU
To me, the loss of JFM and Bryce Huff demonstrates some of the poor choices of JD and Saleh. If we hadn't invested a lot of guaranteed money in Lazard, Cook and other guys to appease Aaron Rodgers we could have a least afforded to restructure JFM. JFM agreed to a restructure with the Broncos but the Jets couldn't work something out? Also whey did we overpay for Kinlaw instead of resigning Jefferson? The defensive line was the bedrock of the Jets defense but with the failure to resign guys from last year it is definitely weaker heading into training camp.
It sucks losing JFM, but I don’t think he would’ve taken the same pay cut here for a reduced role. At least in Denver he can start and showcase his ability. They basically made him a rotation player when they got Kinlaw and Reddick. Kinda like Philly and Reddick, rather than cut him and just get the cap space, get a pick, even if it’s in 2026. They’re gonna have some tough cap decisions in the coming years unfortunately.
Favorite pick: Allen Least favorite: Malachi Grading this B- because it’s hard to believe we have two 4s and two 6s we couldn’t trade up to the second round?.. I graded Malachi lower he has a running back body and not to mention the conference he played in. I see him for special teams and although I wanted Milton I’m fine with Travis. Would’ve been nice to see us pick another OL and edge ❤ LGJ
Also I dont know if the aiyuk talks pick back up, with the 49ers taking Pearsall in the first, maybe they are open to moving him. We picked up an extra 3rd next year which could help us make that trade. Idk how realistic that is, and I like Corley, but Wilson, Williams, Aiyuk, and Corley would be a damn good top 4 recievers and we wouldn't even have to break a sweat thinking about lazard playing snaps. Idk maybe the jfm trade was to open cap space for that. Probably not
maybe with Allen, they looked back historically at the backfield of Green and Thomas. Green beat the hell out of everyone and then Thomas, also a ferocious runner, would explode... and in fact they often switched the order , case in point Green exploding through the line for 50
Green was awesome UNTIL he was the feature back. But as the second option behind Washington and/or Martin he was constantly busting out in 3rd and short for 20+ yard runs.
I’ve been accused of being an eternal optimist when it comes to the Jets, and particularly this regime, so it sucks to feel pessimistic about this draft, but I think it has the potential to be a major setback for the franchise. It’s not that I don’t like the players they selected in a vacuum, but rather in the context of this roster and the consequences of not capitalizing on the draft’s strengths aligning with the team’s needs. I just think the approach and process to the selections was awful. Anyway, I liked the Olu pick as the board fell. Beyond that, Corley’s lack of refinement, length, definable role, elite contact balance, and experience against top competition makes me think boom or bust, and there aren’t really any examples of players like him having much impact. (I think the Deebo comps are inaccurate for the reasons I listed above, and I think if he reaches the level of a Quincy Enunwa, it would defy my expectations.) If they really did have him as their WR4, that would concern me as much as anything considering how unrefined he is and how talented this class was. Jordan Travis doesn’t have the arm to play winter football in the northeast, so him flashing in September and October could be more detrimental to the org than him just settling in as a career backup. False hope has sabotaged the Jets far too often in my lifetime for me to not worry about how bad that situation could get. Taking two RBs in a weak class while not adding another WR and/or OL in a strong class bothers me. Where that decision leaves them beyond 2024 bothers me. Not taking a TE when there were quality options on the board bothers me, especially after letting the TE depth conversation fester around the Bowers rumors all offseason. On top of all of that, as much as I understand the JFM trade for money/negotiation reasons, they arguably left the draft in worse shape than when they entered it, and while I can see Olu making that statement false or simply a wash, I can definitely say they left day 3 as a lesser roster than when the day started. Picking up the 2025 3rd wasn’t a bad move in a vacuum, but I think most of us would’ve rather seen them attack this draft and this coming season. There were a few vacant roles on this team, and not only did they fail to fill most of them, but they either clogged the roster with guys who likely can’t fill those roles or just simply threw away draft picks from my perspective. To be clear, there’s nothing I want more from this than to be proven wrong, but this is as pessimistic as I’ve felt immediately after a draft, and that’s saying something considering some of the bad drafts I’ve seen. And while I’m typically averse to making much out of stuff like this, Saleh’s demeanor at the press conferences was very telling in this instance when coupled with the vibes I got from the limited clips coming out of the war room. I just didn’t like the approach at all, and I think they missed on a major opportunity. I really, truly hope I’m wrong.
I dont really feel like jfm is a huge loss. It seems like Reddick replaces jfm with mcdonald replacing Huff. I think the Edges will be even better this year. The compensation could have been better but I like to imagine this is Douglas' way of saying thank you for giving me a draft pick for zach wilson. The jets and broncos made 2 trades, 1 left broncos fans scratching their head and the other jets fans lol.
and as for Izzy unable to beat out Cook? How do we even know anything about that.. This is the single most inept Offensive staff I've witnessed since 1979, that includes that Middle school level coach Adam Gase.... so it is hard to know how to judge Izzy..
If they wanted JFM they would have kept him. If he was such a valuable player we would have gotten more than a bag of Doritos for him. You guys are overrating him greatly.
Love the recap and everything you guys do!

I can’t not waiiiiiiiiiittttttt for the season to start!!!
Love the addition of They’s new big backs. Can’t imagine them not playing well with Rodgers!!
Jets draft was awesome.✈️✈️✈️

Wished they would’ve used those 4ths on Allen, Travis and Tampa/Hicks.
Allen looks like a fighter, teams aim gonna wanna fight the jets, when Rodgers is healthy!!
i agree ... more accurately if LM Perrine and burnt out Cook merged their skills.... it is I Davis

Corley seems a bit like if Mecole Hardman could tank defenders.

Good points, that 3rd round future pick is for a trade this year.
Lazard is the one holding a very important spot that needed replacement. But they’re keeping him for Rodgers.
I think they traded JFM just to sign their draft picks. It would take some crazy cap gymnastics to fit another high end player
Can’t be making conclusions this early. The roster is not set as yet. We need to see who else is brought in after the cut down.
Would love to see a year 2 jump from McDonald like we got from jj. Could jj be a top edge this season? I think soo!!

Will better have one helluvah year
I bigger dose of McDonald is a prescription I’m gonna enjoy taking

I went to min 1:10:10 for grades.
don't withhold judgement dude... Davis is what your first impression yielded for you.. pedestrian... D 3 back up
Josh Allen is a Running Back! If he were a QB, Diggs would still be there. 🥹. You guys 😂😂😂
We're going to need to rebuild after this year anyway how are we losing JFM for nothing right now?
McDonald better step up.
This is a business, not a video game! They drafted the kid, so now he has to play. Clemons will be fine.
Clemons sucks
@@spendsshanks6050 you’re not sure of that
@@josephipattersonh6933More sure of him than you thinking he’ll be fine. Watch the tape
Their run defense was awful last season
I agree, once we lost that tackle (I forget his name) it was over, teams ran all over the jets.
and as for Izzy unable to beat out Cook? How do we even know anything about that.. This is the single most inept Offensive staff I've witnessed since 1979, that includes that Middle school level coach Adam Gase.... so it is hard to know how to judge Izzy..
They big back look like they will die for Rodgers!!
If they wanted JFM they would have kept him. If he was such a valuable player we would have gotten more than a bag of Doritos for him. You guys are overrating him greatly.
These 2 guys sure know how to sell their topic. Nania crapping on the importance of Day 3 picks for 10 minutes. No wonder why they have 1K views.
JFM is not a huge loss.
Good player replaced by a better player 🤷♂️
I agree I just don't understand the pre June 1st trade. You save more if you wait?
You guys can't even get the kids name right he will play and if he don't great.
