Breece Hall rushes for 2k this year if he plays 17 games and the o-line stays relatively healthy. They can afford Smith to play 12-14 games. They do need AVT to stay healthy though. The defense might be a little weaker than last year but their field position and time to rest will be improved significantly. They also have a easier schedule.

I thought his main point was "safety is a question mark". And the Jets defense has had the philosophy "good front 7 + cornerbacks = safety doesn't matter that much". Which seems to have worked out, although it makes Miami a bad matchup for the Jets, because their offense is built on the QB throwing immediately after a three stop drop -- he doesn't even hitch -- and lightning fast receivers. You kind of need a complete secondary to deal with that: you'd put the corners in press and have the safeties guard deep -- elite corners aren't enough. Sauce is great, but he's not Revis: he can't neutralize speed by having a nose for routes like Palumalu had for snap counts, and just run at cruising speed in front of the faster player, what I called the "double-wide on a two-lane highway" technique.
